Jacksonville police and state child protection workers are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing, endangered 10-month-old child.

Ja’voin Redd was last seen Dec. 10 with a relative who’d been ordered by a judge to turn Ja’voin over to the state Department of Children and Families. Agency spokesman John Harrell said authorities have reason to believe the child has been previously abused and/or neglected. No other details about those circumstances were released.

The child is still believed to be in the Jacksonville area.

Ja’voin is a black male with black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Todd Raleigh of DCF at 904-226-2448.

I can't believe this. 37 days this child has been missing. Authorities believe has been previously abused and/or neglected, and they wait till now to inform the public.

I can only find one article on this sweet baby, the one you posted nanabillie, thank you.

This is terrible, and IMO it should be an Amber Alert because this baby is in serious danger of harm.

Every local newstation should be shouting this from the rooftops.

This sounds like a family abduction.

They don't say who the relative was who was told to hand him over to DCF. Don't they have a relative who can take this precious child instead of placing him into foster care?

I wish I could take him....what a precious child.

Praying someone comes forward with him to end this...

I agree with LLL, this does sound like a family abduction. I wonder if LE has had contact with the relative who was suppose to turn him over. This case needs attention from the media.

Missing Baby Found Safe

A 10 month old baby missing since December 10th has been found safe in Jacksonville.
Ja'voin Redd was found unharmed about 3 Sunday afternoon.

The baby was then taken into the custody of The Department of Children and Family Services.

John Harrell with D.C.F. says the agency is working with The Jacksonville Sheriffs' Office on the case.

Harrell says the boys' caretakers say they had not seen the baby since December 10th, but they did not report him missing until a month later.

The baby is now in protective custody and reportedly in good health. No word yet on any charges will be filed in the case.

Very curious as to "why" this precious little darling wasn't reported. And yes Tigress, I agree, the caretakers shouldn't get anywhere near him again.
