Investigators and their families are still searching for three Lawrence County men who have been missing since Friday.

"Not a clue," Chrystella "Stella" Crump said today, when asked if she knew where her son Timothy Young, 23, might be.

Young; Justin Middlebrook, 22; and Isaiah Tucker, 20, were last seen on in I-55 southbound near Terry around 2:45 a.m. Friday, Sheriff's Department Investigator Ray Smith said.

They were in a 2004 Nissan Altima, license plate LWG 074, owned by the mother of Justin Middlebrook.

The men had attended a basketball game at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson on Thursday, then left for The Horseshoe Lounge in Jackson. They were on their way back home to Monticello from the club when they disappeared, Crump said.

"They didn't take any extra clothes. They all had cell phones, and no one has heard from them. Their gas cards haven't been used, and they would need gas by now."

Another Young family member, Iris Raeshaun, said, "I know Tim wouldn't go off somewhere and not say anything to anyone."

Raeshaun's daughter, Asia Speights, is the mother of Young's 2-year-old daughter Jordan Olivia Young. Raeshaun often takes care of the baby for them.

"I'm feeding the baby now," Raeshaun said in a phone interview. "When Tim is away, he will call and talk to the baby on the phone. He hasn't called."

Anyone with information about the vehicle or these three men are urged to call the Sheriff's Department at (601) 587-2961.

Could they have gone off the road somewhere? I'm not familiar with that area but know here you could go off a cliff or ditch and not be seen with all the brush and trees.

I hope all 3 are safe and found soon.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe someone in the family should travel the same route and see if there are skid marks or any other signs that a car left the roadway.

Since it says they were on I-55 southbound, it would be strange to me if they ran off the road and nobody saw them. It's very possible, I just don't think it's likely though. That's one busy highway.

I sure hope these young men are found soon and they are found safe.

Search underway for 3 men

MONTICELLO, Miss. -- Law enforcement agencies were searching Monday for three missing Monticello men who disappeared while supposedly returning home from Jackson.

Lawrence County Sheriff Joel Thames says Justin Middlebrook, Isaiah Tucker and Timothy Young were last seen Friday around 2 a.m. traveling south on Interstate 55.

Thames says a friend following the trio's pewter 2004 Nissan Altima - tag number LWG 074 - last saw them near the interstate's Terry exit, but she somehow lost their vehicle and returned to Lawrence County without them.

Thames says the men haven't contacted any family members.

Thomas says the Highway Patrol is searching by ground and air.

Several law enforcement agencies on Monday continued to search for three missing Monticello men who disappeared early Friday morning while supposedly returning home from Jackson.
Lawrence County Sheriff Joel Thames said Justin Middlebrook, 22; Isaiah Tucker, 20; and Timothy Young, 23, were last seen Friday around 2 a.m. traveling south on Interstate 55. Thames said a friend following the trio's pewter 2004 Nissan Altima - tag number LWG 074 - last saw them near the interstate's Terry exit, but she somehow lost their vehicle and returned to Lawrence County without them.

"As of (Monday) morning, they haven't contacted any family members and no one knows their whereabouts," Thames said. "Right now, we're at a standstill. We're still searching."

Thames said his department is searching locally, while the Copiah County Sheriff's Department and the Mississippi Highway Patrol are searching I-55. MHP has searched by ground and air, he said, from Terry south to Brookhaven and along Highway 27. The search has produced no results.

Thames said further air searches may be conducted this week, and patrolmen are on the lookout for the vehicle.

Thames said anyone with information regarding the missing trio should contact his office at 601-587-2961, or MHP at 601-833-7811.

Three Lawrence County men still are missing after disappearing early Friday morning while driving home from a Jackson nightclub, an investigator and relatives said Monday.

Stella Crump of Silver Creek, mother of one of the missing men, Timothy Young, said it's not like her son to go anywhere without calling her.

"Not this long. Nobody has heard anything. Not a clue," Crump said.

Law enforcement officials are asking the public for help in finding the men: Young, 23; Justin Rashad Middlebrook, 22; and Isaiah Rashad Tucker, 20.

"We have no new information," said Lawrence County Sheriff's Department investigator Ray Smith.

The three friends had attended a Thursday night basketball game together at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, where Middlebrook and Tucker are students.

Afterward, they decided to drive to The Horseshoe Lounge in Jackson, Crump said.

"One of the boys' first cousins went, too," Crump said.

"She followed them there in her car, and they trailed each other on their way back home on I-55 (southbound).

"Somehow, she lost track of them, somewhere around Terry, around 2:30 or 3 in the morning.

"We don't know if they decided to cut off somewhere, maybe on (U.S.) 51 in Crystal Springs."

The men were in a 2004 Nissan Altima, license plate LWG 074, owned by Middlebrook's mother, Smith said.

"They didn't take any extra clothes," Crump said.

"They all had cell phones, and no one has heard from them. Their gas cards haven't been used, and they would need gas by now."

Iris Raeshaun, who knows Young, said, "Tim is a very responsible person. He's just a sweet, sweet person. I know he wouldn't just run off."

Raeshaun's daughter, Asia Speights, is the mother of Young's 2-year-old daughter, Jordan Olivia Young.

Raeshaun, who lives in Covington County, often takes care of the baby for them because "I'm in the middle, so they both come here," she said.

"Asia is going to school in Hattiesburg. Tim lives near Monticello (in Silver Creek).

"When Tim is away, he will call and talk to the baby on the phone. He hasn't called," Raeshaun said Monday by phone.

"It's hard; she keeps saying, 'Daddy, daddy.' "

Timothy Young recently took a test for a "computer job" in the Army, Crump said.

"His score wasn't high enough, and he was getting ready to take it again for the kind of job he wants."

Since the three men went missing, Crump has been in touch with relatives of the other two, she said.

"We've been holding to each other real close."

Copiah Co. Authorities Find Car With 3 Bodies In A Creek

Tuesday, Jan 20, 2009 - 02:00 PM

Authorities have found three bodies in a car in a creek south of Georgetown in Copiah County.

The fire coordinator for Copiah County tells News Channel 12 that the car may be the Nissan Altima that 3 Lawrence County men were driving before they went missing.

Authorities found the car Tuesday morning around 10:15 after a tip from one of the family members.

22 year old Justin Middlebrook, 20 year old Isaiah Tucker and 23 year old Timothy Young have been missing since Friday.

Tucker’s mother tells News Channel 12 that there is surveillance video that shows her son and one of the other men shopping in a convenience store after 3 a.m. Friday in Crystal Springs.

She says after leaving the store the men continued down Highway 27.

This was all after they had left a nightclub in Jackson.

Bodies of 3 missing men found in Copiah Co. creek

Associated Press - January 20, 2009 5:04 PM ET

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The bodies of 3 Lawrence County men missing since last week have been found in a car submerged in a creek on a rural highway.

Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones tells The Associated Press the bodies of Timothy Young, Justin Middlebrook and Isaiah Tucker were found Tuesday morning off Mississippi Highway 27, south of Georgetown.

They were reported missing when they disappeared after attending a junior college basketball game Thursday night in Wesson.

Jones said the bodies were sent to the state Crime Lab, where autopsies will be performed.

The car clipped a guard rail and went down and embankment into the creek. Relatives looking for signs of the missing men noticed the damaged guardrail, then saw a wheel sticking out of the creek. The rest of the vehicle was submerged.

ow truck operators remove a Nissan Altima from a creek on Mississippi 27 near the Rockport community Tuesday afternoon. The car contained the bodies of Timothy Young, 23, Justin Rashad Middlebrook, 22 and Isaiah Rashad Tucker, 20, all of Lawrence County.

ROCKPORT — With her pastor's arms draped around her shoulders, Stella Crump shook in the cold and cried as rescue workers pulled three bodies from a small creek in Copiah County on Tuesday afternoon.

Timothy Young, 23, Crump's son, was one of the victims - killed in an apparent one-car accident on a remote, two-lane stretch of Mississippi 27. The men, all from Lawrence County, had been missing since Friday morning.

Minyette Young, Timothy Young's sister, sobbed as a wrecker lifted the dripping remains of the Nissan Altima that her brother, Justin Middlebrook, 22, and Isaiah Tucker, 20, had been riding in Friday.

"I don't understand it," she said. "This is the second time I've done this."

The family lost another son about a dozen years ago, explained Cathy Clark, the wife of Crump's pastor, the Rev. Phillip Clark of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Silver Creek.

"He also drowned," she said.

Copiah County Coroner Ellis Stuart said the bodies were those of the three missing men. He said identification was found on all three and family members at the scene positively ID'd them. Autopsies are scheduled today to determine the causes of death.

The license plate of the car reported missing last week, LWG 074, matched that of the car found Tuesday.

Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones said relatives of one of the men were driving around looking for the car Tuesday morning when they noticed damage to a guardrail near the water - possibly a branch of nearby Steel Creek, about two miles south of the Rockport community.

When they looked in the water, they saw a portion of what turned out to be a car tire. They contacted police, who arrived late Tuesday morning and found the submerged car.

Searchers who combed the area earlier may have missed the tire because "the water in the creek was probably higher before today and hid it," Jones said.

Dozens of rescue workers and law enforcement officials swarmed the scene, which was several yards south of Twin Pines Mart near Dogtown Road.

As the 2004 Altima emerged upside down, around 80 to 100 onlookers crowded the shoulders of the highway, some smoking and snapping photos of the crumpled metal with their cell phones.

Others, including friends of the family, surrounded and cried with relatives of the men.

"This is a time when we're all going to have to bind together and pray for each other," said Sylvia Wallace-Lewis of Lawrence County, a friend of Young's and Middlebrook's families.

"Our hearts are very heavy."

Lisa Tucker, 34, of Jackson, sister of Isaiah Tucker, said her brother and Middlebrook were especially close.

"They played T-Ball and basketball together when they were real small.

"Isaiah loved to ride horses. He loved working on cars and motorcycles.

"He was the baby of the family; we all took care of him."

Riding in the Altima, owned by Middlebrook's mother, the men had attended a Thursday night basketball game at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Wesson, where Middlebrook and Tucker were students.

Afterward, they decided to drive to a Jackson lounge, Crump said Monday. A relative of one of the men had followed them in her car, trailing them until she lost them on their way back home from Jackson on I-55 South.

Reportedly, they last were seen at the Subway Lounge in Crystal Springs, where they stopped for a bite to eat around 3 a.m. Friday, Jones said.

The restaurant is about 30 minutes from the accident site, Jones said.

The driver of the Altima apparently crossed the highway, ran off the road, clipped the bridge railing and landed in the creek, Jones said. It's unknown who was driving the car or how fast it was traveling, he said.

"It may be weeks before we know the speed of the car," Jones said. "Right now, all we have to look at is a bad accident."

All three bodies were in the car when they were found, Jones said. He didn't know if the men had been wearing seat belts.

By early afternoon, two of the men were covered in body bags and loaded into a coroner's van; there was no room for the third. Several minutes later, the third body was loaded into a separate van and driven away.

"When you lose young men, it's tough," said Ray Smith, Lawrence County Sheriff's Department investigator, who was at the scene.

"It's tough when you lose anybody."

This is so terribly sad.:1222423::1222423::1222423:

Copiah County, MS (WLBT) - Three missing Lawrence County men have been found dead. This after an extensive search by law enforcement, Civil Air Patrol pilots and family members. The Nissan Altima was found just after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday off Highway 27 south of Rockport in Copiah County.

The four day search for three young men from Lawrence County came to a tragic end Tuesday morning.

"It's a great loss and they will be missed," said Tameca Jasper, a friend of the young men.

22 year old Justin Middlebrook, 20 year old Isaiah Tucker and 23 year old Timothy Young had been missing since early Friday. The friends attended a basketball game in Wesson then went onto a night club in Jackson. They were last seen around 3:00 a.m. at a Subway restaurant in Crystal Springs.

"That was even worse. Not knowing and hoping and praying and it would be a better outcome than unfortunately it did," said Middlebrook's great uncle Howard Taylor.

A family member discovered the vehicle. He was searching the stretch of Highway 27 when he noticed a damaged guard rail. He found a tire sticking out of the creek where the car was completely submerged.

Mississippi Highway Patrol, Copiah and Lincoln County Sheriff's officials and Hinds Emergency Management responded. Emergency crews used a boat to help attatch cables to the car and tow the vehicle out of the creek as a crowd of loved ones looked on.

"The three people were in the vehicle when we got it out of the water," said Copiah County Sheriff Harold Jones.

Authorities won't speculate as to what caused the vehicle to drive off the road. Lawrence County investigator Captain Ray Smith does not suspect foul play, calling it all a bad accident.

"We've been sticking close with them throughout this whole thing. It's just been a great impact on everyone. Whenever you lose men it's tough," said Smith.

"I can just imagine how the family is holding up, it's just very hard to deal with," said Taylor.
