CBS Orders New Reality Drama "Missing You"
January 26, 2009 3:38 p.m. EST

Los Angeles, CA (CNS) - People cannot get enough of crime dramas, whether they're scripted (the "CSI" series) or reality ("Cops"). CBS has ordered a pilot presentation of a reality show called "Missing You." On the show, a team of investigators investigate and try to solve different missing-persons cases each week.

The show's executive producers include "Girls Next Door" producer Ned Nalle and '70s teen sensation Shaun Cassidy, who has produced ABC's 2005 series "Invasion" and the CBS hit "American Gothic." If "Missing You" is picked up, it will be a crime reality show to counter CBS' two scripted crime hit dramas, "CSI" and "The Mentalist."

According to the Hollywood Reporter, CBS had a similar idea to develop a reality crime/police drama before. The network teamed with Mark Burnett in 2004 to develop "Recovery," a show about the search for kidnapped children.

Burnett's production team conceptualized and filmed "Recovery" for 18 months. The problem, however, was it needed to be filmed under the utmost secrecy so as not to endanger the safety of the children being searched looked for.

There have been no reports on whether "Missing You" will need to be filmed in secrecy or whether other precautions will need to be taken so as not to compromise any cases.

I say, "More Power To Them" , for at least, making an effort to bring the issue of Missing Persons to light!

This is a good thing, I hope that it all works out and missing persons mentioned come home safely or at least they are able to find out what happened to them. Hope it starts soon?

I admit I would be glued to such a show but I can see a plethora of problems, not the least of which being interference with an ongoing investigation.

I'd love to think we could be an "eye in the sky" watching unfolding events, but let's face it.... how could you effectively insert a production crew in a real life missing persons case? Frankly, as much as I'm a true-crime-buff, if I had a family member who turned up missing, the LAST thing I'd want is a camera in my face or that of the LEOs who were supposed to be focusing on finding my loved one.

Sorry to be a "wet blanket".

Hi, just came across this while searching for information on this program.

CASTING CALL

SEEKING:

FEMALE or MALE (18 and over) - If you are seeking a close friend, a loved one, a child, or perhaps someone you never knew at all - a sibling separated at birth, or a baby given up for adoption - you might be a candidate for the show. Or maybe you're a veteran searching for that war buddy who saved your life, or just a person looking for that long lost love. Whatever the scenario, if you or anyone you know has a compelling story to tell and wants to find that special someone, let the casting directors know. Your missing person may be just around the corner.
