PUTNAM COUNTY, FL -- Sheriff Jeff Hardy announced the arrest Thursday of a sexual predator who lives in Haleigh Cummings' neighborhood. At this time they say they don't believe he is connected to the child's disappearance.

GPS shows Timothy Randolph Loucakis was either in his home or in his yard the night Haleigh disappeared. Deputies arrested him last night for violating his curfew and searched his house for a third time.

The following transcript is Geraldo's confrontation with Ronald Cummings, father of missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings. In the confrontation, Geraldo asks him about allegations he'd abused Haleigh, her biological mother and drug use.
(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

RONALD CUMMINGS, HALEIGH'S FATHER: This is uncalled for.


RIVERA, HOST "GERALDO AT LARGE": Chad and Marcus told me that during the vigil, you told them you were 75 percent sure who took Haleigh.

CUMMINGS: There is no way — I do not know who took Haleigh. If I had — if I had, uh, five percent of where Haleigh was at, I would be there now and not here.

RIVERA: Did you tell them that, though? Maybe you weren’t — maybe you were just [OVERLAP] were just — are they lying?




CUMMINGS: Yes, they’re absolutely lying. No, for no reason have I ever told anybody that I have any clue where my child is at. If I had any clue where my child — you know, national TV, they’re a bunch of liars. Chad and whoever told you this are a bunch of liars. I never even spoke with them.

RIVERA: They told — they told me that you hit Haleigh. Is that true?

CUMMINGS: No. Never, ever have I ever hit my child. Me and my child have an agreement. Daddy, daughter. She has been spanked on her behind the way DCF says that you can take care of disciplining your children.

RIVERA: You never backhanded her to the face?

CUMMINGS: [OVERLAP] Never. Never have I ever backhanded my child in the face, ever.

RIVERA: Did you hit Crystal when she was pregnant?

CUMMINGS: No. I did not. Never.

RIVERA: You didn’t hit her in the back of the head and kick her?

CUMMINGS: No. No. I never have.

RIVERA: You swear to God you never hit your pregnant woman?

CUMMINGS: [OVERLAP] Never. Never, never have I ever hit any woman, period. Never. And I’d like to know where all these allegations are coming from because I would like to talk — talk to law enforcement and have these false allegations, um, known that, um, the false allegations against me, somebody needs criminal charges pressed against them.

RIVERA: What about the allegations of cocaine use, methamphetamine use?

CUMMINGS: There’s nothing. I do not do drugs.

RIVERA: You don’t do drugs? All those arrests were all —

CUMMINGS: No.

RIVERA: Do you work for the police? Are you an informant?

CUMMINGS: No, I am no an informant. I do not work for the police. I work for PDM, which is a, um, bridge building company. That’s who I work for.

RIVERA: And you’ve never been involved in the drug trade?

CUMMINGS: No.

RIVERA: And when they tell me they saw bricks of marijuana that you had in the house, plants all around the house, is that a lie?

CUMMINGS: It is absolutely a lie and I would like to know where the information is coming from so that I can get, um, the proper authorities to take care of this.

RIVERA: You’re — put all this stuff aside. If some associate of yours, some associate that had something to do with drugs and this is not about drugs but if these people are on the dark side of life, don’t you think that you should share that information? Share — tell us about — when you told Marcus and Chad that you were 75 percent sure and you had your gun ready and your — and you had your gun ready and you were gonna go get em, didn’t you say that? Isn’t that a fact, Ron?

CUMMINGS: No, it is not a fact.

RIVERA: Why would they make that up? Why would they make that up?

CUMMINGS: I don’t know why they would make [OVERLAP] for you. But I — I am fixing [OVERLAP] to have the law called right here, right now because you’re making up things or they’re making up things and you’re getting into —

RIVERA: I am — I am relating to you what they are saying.

CUMMINGS: [OVERLAP] My face, man.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You need to back off, man. That’s my son.

RIVERA: Alright. Well I’m sorry — I am sorry for what has happened.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: No, you’re not sorry. [OVERLAPPED CONVERSATION]

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: You need to go.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: We are — [OVERLAPPED CONVERSATION] Listen. You wanna come up here and make [OVERLAP] allegations. Why don’t you go back to —

RIVERA: These are not my allegations, man. These are not my allegations. You have to understand that.

UNIDENTIFIED FEMALE: [OVERLAP] Okay. [OVERLAP] All we care about —

RIVERA: You have to understand this is not my allegation. Don’t touch him, don’t touch him, please. We’re leaving. Come on, let’s go. Let’s go.

CUMMINGS: [OVERLAP] I wanted you to see that all this is about is my daughter. I love you, baby. [OVERLAP] If you are out there, I want you to know that I love you and I will find you, baby. I love you. And two, whoever — whoever has you, please bring my daughter home to me. I love my daughter. I love you, baby. I will find you.

RIVERA: You believe she’s alive then?

CUMMINGS: I’m always gonna believe that my daughter’s alive until they find her. [SILENCE]

GERALDO RIVERA, HOST "GERALDO AT LARGE": When Ron Cummings is seen on television, most often, he is crying or in mourning or other conduct appropriate to a father whose daughter has gone missing. But the family on the mother’s side tells a much different story and a much different image emerges of Ron Cummings. Crystal, is not a fact that he was abusive to you?

CRYSTAL SHEFFIELD, HALEIGH'S MOM: Yes he was. He — when I first got pregnant with Haleigh, he punched me in the back of the head and before then, he was verbal. I mean he was just very abusive.

RIVERA: What did he call you?

SHEFFIELD: Stupid *EXPLETIVE DELETED*. You stupid *EXPLETIVE DELETED*. You *EXPLETIVE DELETED*. I mean you name it, he said it.

RIVERA: Describe when he punched you when you were pregnant.

SHEFFIELD: We were living in Leesburg at his mother’s house. And I had just found out I was pregnant. We were both doing cocaine and I stopped and I walked in the bedroom and he was doing it.
And I was like, you know, how are you gone do this in front of me after I just found out I was pregnant and I just stopped? And he got very pissed off and I had my — I was facing — I had my back turned to him. He punched me in the head and then I turned around and he kicked me off the bed.

RIVERA: And he knew you were pregnant when he kicked you?

SHEFFIELD: Yes he did. He knew.

RIVERA: And was he abusive, basically, throughout your relationship?

SHEFFIELD: The whole time. I mean his mother knew, his granny knew. His granny even told me once, um, I don’t know why you’re with him.

RIVERA: Why did you stay with him?

SHEFFIELD: Because I was scared to leave.

RIVERA: Are you frightened of him even today?

SHEFFIELD: Yes I am.

RIVERA: Why?

SHEFFIELD: Just because of all the things he’s done to me.

RIVERA: Are you fr— frightened that he’ll come after you?

SHEFFIELD: Sometimes I am. I mean he’s called and wanted me to come back several times and I have went back a couple times just to be with my kid and he was still the same and I left. It hurt to leave em but I’m not gonna put myself through that.

RIVERA: Do you believe his story about what happened?

SHEFFIELD: No, I don’t. I mean I know he loves Haleigh and — [PAUSES] — his temper, I mean it could get bad enough for him to hurt Haleigh. But I do know he loves Haleigh. Haleigh is his heart and everybody knows that.

RIVERA: Has he ever hit Haleigh?

SHEFFIELD: Um, my cousin, Candice, told me when we got down here for this incident, that, um, he come to her house — it was Ronald, Haleigh, Junior and Misty. And Haleigh bumped into him or smarted off to him and she said he just backhanded her. And she fell flat on her face on the porch.

RIVERA: Marie, you have a picture of Haleigh.

MARIE GRIFFIS, HALEIGH'S GRANDMA: Yes.

RIVERA: Do you want me to see it?

GRIFFIS: Yes. You get it.

RIVERA: Alright this is a picture, a disturbing picture, that shows Haleigh with an obvious black eye, a cut on her nose and the — a bruise that goes from the top of her left eye all the way down to the left side of her cheek.
Now I understand the school records indicate that she had an accident at school. Are these injuries the result of that accident?

GRIFFIS: Uh, that’s what we were told, that she fell at school and — or who was pushed at school by — by another child and that she fell catching the sidewalk and that was the results of it. But if you fall on the sidewalk, why didn’t her hands get skinned, her knees get skinned?

SHEFFIELD: [OVERLAP] The nurse said that all she had was a scratch on her nose.

RIVERA: So you — you — do you believe that Ron Cummings hit this child?

SHEFFIELD: I don’t know if he hit her or if she fell down or any other incident happened. But that did not happen at school. The nurse said she had a scratch on her nose.

RIVERA: And you have witnesses that he has hit this child?

SHEFFIELD: Yes.

GRIFFIS: Yes.

RIVERA: Do you believe that Ron Cummings knows who took Haleigh?

SHEFFIELD: Yes. I mean he’s told my brother and my fiancé that he knows — he’s 75 percent sure he knows where his daughter is. He said on TV that he had no enemies.

RIVERA: Is that true?

SHEFFIELD: No. He’s got plenty of enemies.

SHEFFIELD: I know when he’s really crying, that is fake.

Reward Grows To $35K For Haleigh's Safe Return

SATSUMA, Fla. -- The reward for information on the disappearance of missing north Florida girl Haleigh Cummings has been increased to $35,000.

The Jacksonville-based Justice Coalition announced at a news conference Tuesday that it was adding $8,490 to increase the reward to help find the 5-year-old who has been missing for a month.

Haleigh vanished from the mobile homes where she lived with her father and his girlfriend.

Haileigh's father, Ronald Cummings, and her mother, Crystal Sheffield, tearfully pleaded for the return of the little girl at the Satsuma news conference.

On Monday, Cummings and girlfriend Misty Croslin applied for a marriage license in Palatka.

Anyone with information about Haleigh's whereabouts is asked to call Crimestoppers at 888-277-TIPS.

SATSUMA, Fla. -- There's a new investigator on the Haleigh Cummings case. He calls himself Cobra. He's a private investigator from Fort Lauderdale, who is in Satsuma at Haleigh's mother's request.

"In 30 years, I've caught over 8000 fugitives, 199 child molesters, 2 murderers, and one terrorist," says Cobra. Now his focus is on Haleigh. Thursday, he joined police in their thorough but fruitless ground search. And now, he's sorting through tips, trying to figure out what is fact and what is fiction.

Cobra says, "You heard the rumors, that drugs dealers got her. Drug dealers sell drugs. But there is a rumor that there are folks around that sell babies, and sell folks. I'm very familiar with that trade."

He couldn't talk about any specific leads he's working. But he says one thing is for sure, we can expect a break in Haleigh's case very soon.

Cobra says he's investigating the case free of charge. And he says he will stay in Putnam County until he's confident the case is closed.

Would $35,000 Haleigh Get Back? Calls from Croslin, Neves

There is another bizzare turn of events in the disappearance of 6-year old Haleigh Cummings. The father Misty Croslin-Cummings, Haleigh's babysitter-now stepmom who was supposed to be watching the child the night she disappeared, left a strange message on the phone of Texas Equusearch Director Tim Miller claiming Ronald Cummings needs $35,000 to get the child back!

Recently Tim Miller with Texas Eqqusearch was asked to once again help search for the child. Two weeks ago, Misty Cummings asked Miller to arrange a polygraph to clear her of suspsicion since police had publicly said her stories of the night in question are inconsistent.

Misty failed both the polygraph and a voice stress test. She is now saying she was duped into taking the tests.

On August 28th, Misty Cummings’ father, Hank Croslin Sr., left a voicemail message for Miller claiming Ronald Cummings told him "If I had $35,000, I could have Haleigh back."

Miller sought the help of a fellow Texan and friend of Millers, Roy Moffitt of Roy Moffitt Customized Fueling Inc.. Moffit has since written a check to Ronald Cummings for $35,000 payable upon the safe return of Haleigh.

The Sky's TJ Hart asked Miller what exactly the $35,000 was for. Miller said he was only concerned about getting missing Haleigh back and that he "didn't give a damn."

Hart now has in his posession and has forwarded copies of telephone messages of Croslin making the $35,000 claim and another one from Ronald Cumming mother Teresa Neves from August 18th.

Suspected Stepmom Claims Missing Girl's Biological Mother's Family is to Blame for 5-Year-Old's Disappearance

(CBS) Misty Cummings blamed someone on "the other side of the family" for the disappearance of her 5-year-old stepdaughter Haleigh in part one of her exclusive interview Friday (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/10/09/earlyshow/main5373810.shtml) on "The Early Show."

But who did Cummings mean by "the other side"?

Cummings, who was babysitting Haleigh the night she disappeared in February, explained in part two of her interview that she meant someone on Haleigh's biological mother's side of the family.

Though Misty Cummings said she doesn't think Haleigh's natural mother, Crystal Sheffield, had anything to do with the disappearance, she said, "(Crystal) wasn't close with her daughter. She admitted that they didn't have a close relationship," Misty said. "... I don't think she personally had anything to do with it, just someone on her side of the family."

Cummings is currently a suspect in the case; she says she was sleeping beside Haleigh when she disappeared. But police say her story doesn't add up.

The 17-year-old stepmom, according to police, has failed to provide a detailed account of that night, and physical evidence contradicts what she told investigators.

Ronald Cummings, Haleigh's father, who married Misty a month after Haleigh's disappearance, has said through his attorney that he has noticed some discrepancies in Misty's story.

Terry Shoemaker, Ron Cummings' attorney said on "The Early Show," "(Ronald) always thought that she told the truth. He has had some concerns regarding what she has said, some discrepancies between different statements, but he has stood by her all along."

Ronald, who was to appear on "The Early Show" with his lawyer, couldn't make the interview because of a family illness, Shoemaker said.

Ronald Cummings is now divorcing Misty, Shoemaker said -- not because Ronald doubts her story -- but because the pressure of the ongoing investigation into Haleigh's disappearance had been building up in the household.

As for Misty Cummings' claims about Sheffield's family, Shoemaker said Ronald Cummings has talked to Florida police about them, but he hasn't accused anyone.

"He doesn't know what took place that night," Shoemaker said, "And he said wants everybody to be looked in to."

And "everybody" includes his current wife, whose story, Shoemaker said, Ronald Cummings doubts somewhat.

"He in no way believes that she was involved whatsoever. ... She has changed her story a little here and there," Shoemaker said, "but nothing major."

But Misty Cummings says her story of the night Haleigh went missing hasn't changed. "It's the same, it's the truth," she told Rodriguez.

Misty Cummings claims that in the middle of the night she discovered Haleigh had vanished from her bed. In February, she said that she found the trailer's back door wide open.

Cummings was also babysitting Haleigh's younger brother, Ronald Cummings Jr.

Cummings told Rodriguez she put Haleigh to bed at 8 p.m., and the last time she saw the little girl was at 10 p.m. when she herself was going to bed.

But, Rodriguez pointed out, Misty Cummings' own brother told police that when he went to the trailer that night, his sister wasn't there.

Cummings responded that she didn't leave the house at all that night. She said her brother is trying to get out of jail by implicating her.

"Your own brother would betray you like that?" Rodriguez asked.

"That's how my family is," Cummings said.

Although Florida police have focused their attention on Misty Cummings, Rodriguez said, they appear to be no closer to making an arrest.

Cummings told Rodriguez she's "100 percent positive" she had nothing to do with Haleigh's disappearance and that she doesn't know who did.

Florida police are still considering Cummings a suspect as the investigation goes forward.

"If that's what they got to do to find Haleigh, then look into me," she said. "But they just need to move on, look for the right person because I'm not the right person."

We felt as though the closer we could get her to the pastor and stuff, maybe she would go in there and confess to the pastor, uh, whatever the hell it was going to take for us to find Haleigh.

Rozie Franco: Right. Now Donna, is she one of your closest volunteers? Where is she....

Tim Miller: She is one that yeah, did a good job but she is one that would fit in as a mother that Misty never had. That somebody Misty could trust. You know, I mean nobody ever took Misty to the mall or nobody ever took Misty to get her nails done, nobody ever did any of that. So it's one of them things that you know, let's go ahead and play this Donna. You're gonna be the mother, I'll spend the damn money, work on this girl and everything and let's see if you can just go ahead and get her to break and say where in the hell little HaLeigh's at.

And when they put something together to that point that they know a jury's going to find her guilty and whether they'd have to take her in there first like they did Casey and take her in on child endangerment and false police reports, uh, and hold her under high bond or what. And you know what, here's what I truly believe from my heart, .... After spending as much time as I spent with those damn hillbillies is that number 1, she is scared to death to go to jail. She is scared to death to go to jail and I think the other reason she is not giving anything up is because of all these damn drug addicts thugs that she hangs out with, if she goes ahead and gives up what really happened, she fears for her life because uh, these these thugs'll kill her. ENDTim Miller of Texas Equisearch is claiming Donna Brock (driver in car with Misty Croslin-Cummings) works for him. That Brock is or was working undercover to gain Misty's trust and find Haleigh. Miller saying his money is what paid for Misty's adventures in Orlando with Brock. Interview can be found on the Sky radio (T.J Hart). One has to wonder if this was a set up.

Lieutenant Johnny Greenwood spokesman for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) recently brought the public up to date with what exactly is going on in the case of Haleigh Cummings. The 6 year old child was reported missing 8 months ago from her home in Satsuma, Florida.

According to Greenwood the Haleigh case has one investigator who is Peggy Cone, the Case Agent. There is, also, one homicide investigator, Detective John Merchant. Putnam County is working the case as a missing person investigation because they have not received any relevant information that Haleigh Cummings is deceased.

A six man major crime unit meets every morning and gets debriefed on the case. They are responsible for conducting interviews. There is, also, an agent from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) that has been assigned to work on this case with them.

Right now it is a matter of old fashion police work, conducting interviews, and following up on about 10 to 15 new tips a day.

Lieutenant Johnny Greenwood said that they have released absolutely no documents on this case

Nor, does the physical evidence point to a stranger abduction.

The big gap that PCSO is trying to overcome is the events of of the evening of February 9th, from 7 p.m. on, when Teresa Neves last saw Haleigh alive with Misty. All that they have been able to obtain so far are the sketchy statements being given by Misty Croslin – Cummings as to what happened that night.

Misty Cummings is still the key person.

More is being learned about the alleged road rage incident involving the father of missing Satsuma girl HaLeigh Cummings, his ex-wife Misty Croslin Cummings and a man identified as Charles Jones with the release of the 911 audio from the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.


The first audio recording is Misty Croslin Cummings making the first call claiming Charles Jones is trying to run her and Ronald off the road. Misty declines to give her name and informs the dispatcher that there are two children in Ronald’s vehicle.

A statewide Amber Alert has been issued. An additional $30,000 in rewards have been posted.

Ronald Cummings said detectives wasted no time asking him about his missing 6-year-old daughter after police arrested him on drug charges last week, according to a phone conversation with a Florida Times-Union reporter.Cummings said questions from investigators immediately turned to Haleigh following his arrest."They just told me that their main focus is not on putting me in jail but finding Haleigh," Cummings said in the recorded conversation from his Flagler County jail cell. "They already know that I don't know nothing about Haleigh's disappearance, or otherwise I would've already been in DOC."

Cummings also talked about what he'd do if he ever finds the person responsible for the girl's disappearance last February.

Ronald Cummings made his first appearance
in court in Flagler County on drug trafficking charges.

"Kill him. Same thing I said on the 911 call. I'm telling you, I haven't changed my mind not a bit," Cummings said. "I don't care if they get me with unjustifiable homicide. I don't care. If I find out what happened to my youngin it doesn't matter to me. It will be worth life without parole or the death penalty."

Cummings' conversation with the reporter turned from Haleigh to his ex-wife, Misty Cummings, the last person to see his daughter, and whether Ronald thinks Misty knows more than she's telling.

"It's hard to believe she doesn't know more, but it's also hard to believe that if she did know more she ain't already talked," Cummings said. "Especially if they got her locked up like they got me."

"I want my family to know I love them, my girlfriend to know I love them, my kids to know I love them, Haleigh to know I'll never give up on her," Cummings added. "This is a setback in my life that when I come out will remind me what I should be doing and not what I was doing, what I'm being accused of doing."
