OCALA - Marion County sheriff's deputies are looking for a sexual predator who has been missing since Feb. 1.

Deputies say Chad Eugene Reynolds, 25, left his mother's home at 3 Bay Court Run in Ocklawaha on that Sunday to watch the Super Bowl at a local bar.
That was the last time anyone reported seeing him.
"We're handling it like any missing and endangered person. We're concerned for his safety because his mother said he hasn't done anything like this before," sheriff's Capt. Tommy Bibb said.
At this time, he stressed, finding Reynolds out of concern for his safety is their focus.
If found, however, Reynolds will likely be arrested for violation of probation because he hasn't reported to his probation officer.
Also, in light of the search in Putnam County for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, Maj. Chris Blair said the Marion County Sheriff's Office has contacted the Putnam Sheriff's Office about the missing sexual predator.
According to the Florida Department of Corrections Web site, Reynolds was sentenced in Putnam County to seven years in prison for armed burglary and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child younger than 12. The offense date was Sept. 3, 2002.
He was released in November 2008 and is currently on 10 years of community supervision.
The missing man's mother, Debora Reynolds, told deputies he had borrowed a vehicle from a woman by the name of Amy Baker and drove it from the bar. Reynolds' mother told deputies his license is suspended.
Chad Reynolds reportedly called Baker and told her he was at the Wal-Mart in Summerfield and that the vehicle had broken down.
By the time Baker got there, Reynolds had gone. Baker later found her vehicle in Sumter County along U.S. 441. Baker told deputies the last time she spoke to Reynolds was 2:15 a.m. the following Monday. Five minutes after that call, Reynolds called his mother's home but did not leave a message. On Feb. 3, a man identified only as "Ryan" told deputies he received a call from Reynolds; however, he did not speak with him because the phone was disconnected as soon as he said hello.
Deputies contacted Reynolds' place of employment, Longhorn Steakhouse restaurant in Sumter County, and was told by the manager that Reynolds had not reported to work for two days.
Reynolds' mother said her son is a registered sexual predator and that he's required to report at her address every day. Concerned for his safety, she called the Sheriff's Office on Feb. 5 to report that he was missing.

Chad Reynolds is a registered sex offender who is missing from Ochlawaha, Florida, a short 2 hour drive from where 5 year old Haleigh Cummings was reported missing on February 10, 2009. See photos and read more below.

February 1 ,2009 was the last time anyone admits to seeing Chad Eugene Reynolds. He was last seen leaving a tavern after the SuperBowl in Ochlawaha, Florida. He was using friend Amy Bakers borrowed vehicle. He was reported missing on February 4th. He was sentenced to seven years in prison for armed burglary and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child younger than 12. Released last November 2008, Reynolds is required to report to his mother’s house everyday.
Ochlawaha is about 2 hours from where little Haleigh Cummings disappeared. Reynolds called his friend later and said the car had broken down near Marion/Lake County. While the car was found, Chad Reynolds was not.
Perhaps a mere coincidence? Haleigh Cummings home has 44 registered sex offenders within a 5 mile radius, so it seems unlikely that Chad would be involved … and at this time, there is no proof that any sex offender had anything to do with Haleighs abduction. However….Reynolds was sentenced in Putnum County (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,493230,00.html) — the same county where Haleigh was reported missing Feb. 10 — to seven years in prison for armed burglary and lewd and lascivious molestation of a child younger than 12. The incident happened in September of 2002.
Reynolds, 25 years old, was familiar with the area, and he is the same age (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,491008,00.html) as Ronald Cummings, and Crystal Sheffield, the parent’s of Haleigh.
Misty Croslin, 17, is Ronald Cummings live-in girlfriend and caretaker of his 2 children, Ronald Jr, 4, and Haleigh,5. They had been together about 5 months when Misty discovered Haleigh missing from her bed at 3am. She allegedly had awakened at that time to use the bathroom and check on the children…sleeping in the same room she was in. Ronald typically returns from work around 3-4 am. She did not call 911 (http://www.news4jax.com/news/18680086/detail.html#-) until she spoke with him … for whatever reason.
There is much speculation that somehow, Misty and possibly Ronald are involved in some way. After listening to the 911 calls, I personally believe Misty is omitting something from her report. Her story has changed several times and she is extremely vague when answering questions. She has siblings around the same age as Chad Reynolds, so could there be a connection? Misty did tell police that her brother, her nephews and an air conditioner repairman were in the home late Monday afternoon.
Ronald Cummings has quite a rap sheet (http://www.websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79576&highlight=rap+sheet+ronald+cummings&page=11), indicating he knows many unsavory characters. In checking the My Space pages of several involved in this tragic mystery, a *Chad* is listed as a friend. And no, we don’t link My Space profiles … sorry.
So many people try to compare Haleigh’s disappearance to Jessica Lundsford, Caylee Anthony, JonBenet Ramsey, yet really the only commonality at this point is they all started out missing. We should not put this child in the one size fits all missing kids category. Something is amiss … it’s obvious. We all want to know what we are not being told. Could there have been an accident, followed by panic and a cover-up? Could Misty, allegedly coming off a 3 day bender, inadvertently allowed someone access to the home, or perhaps left the children unattended that evening?
Did a pedophile, registered or not, befriend the family, gain their trust and then kidnap this little girl? Why aren’t the police pleading with people to be on the look out, keep their doors locked, etc? Do they already know what happened and are building their case?
Will we ever be able to stop, or at least diminish the harm brought on our children daily? So many questions, and sadly, no answers.
When found, Chad Reynolds will likely be arrested for failing to report to his probation officer.

Putnam County officials have heard about Chad Eugene Reynolds, 25, a Marion County registered sexual predator who has been missing since early February. They have talked to Reynolds' family members in Putnam County, and right now they do not believe he is connected with Haleigh's case. Still, they would like to talk with him.

Reynolds, who was released from prison last November, was arrested in connection with a lewd and lascivious act upon a child younger than 12. The incident occurred in Putnam County.
Court records provide these details about the case:
On Sep. 3, 2002, Reynolds broke into a doublewide mobile home in Interlachen, which is west of Palatka. He was 19. He had a small pocketknife and it was late at night.\
He stole cash. He also used the knife to cut away a section of the shorts and underwear of an 11-year-old girl and then touched her private area, the records showed. He was sentenced to serve seven years in prison (with credit for time served in jail awaiting resolution of his case) and 10 years of special probation for sex offenders.
Marion Sheriff's Office Capt. Tommy Bibb said investigators have been trying to Reynolds. Bibb said he is concerned for the man's well-being, considering he has not called his mother since leaving to go watch the Super Bowl.
"We have no reason to believe he is connected with her (Haleigh's) disappearance," Bibb said, adding they contacted Putnam authorities. "We are concerned about his welfare."
