Missing Stone Mountain Man Found Dead
Victim's Body Discovered In Duluth
Sunday, February 15, 2009 – updated: 6:03 pm EST February 15, 2009
ATLANTA -- Gwinnett County police said a body found in a Duluth parking lot is that of Marc Stewart, a Stone Mountain man who has been missing since Feb. 11, when he was last seen leaving home for work.
Last week, authorities told WSB-TV Channel 2's Jeff Dore that Stewart was driving a silver 2005 Ford Explorer with Georgia license tag BDY-6016. Police said a preliminary investigation indicated that the body of a black man was found inside a parked Ford Explorer shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday.
Stewart’s bank card and cell phone had been used since he disappeared, according to family friend Kiyomi Rollins.
Stewart’s wife, Andrea White, received an e-mail alert from Bank of America stating "irregular check card activity" had been spotted on Stewart’s account, said Rollins.
The alert came three hours after White received a call from her husband saying he was on his way home, Rollins said.
The Medical Examiner's Office said it will conduct an investigation to determine the cause and manner of death. Gwinnett County police said they are investigating the incident as a homicide.
Stewart, a native of Jamaica, was the president and CEO of Island Coast Entertainment, a music and event planning company in Atlanta.

Missing DeKalb Man Found Murdered
February 16, 2009 1:56 AM
He was heading home to Stone Mountain and called his wife to find out what she wanted for dinner. That was the last time anyone heard from Marc Stewart.
The body of the DeKalb businessman was found, in his SUV, in the parking lot of a Bahama Breeze restaurant in Duluth. He had been shot to death.
"We really don't have any viable suspect information," Gwinnett Police Corporal Illana Spellman tells WSB. She says someone spotted the body in the vehicle and called police.
Stewart, who had a daughter, was known in the area as a promoter of Caribbean music and films. There had been a preview of one of his movies scheduled for Sunday night. That, instead, turned into a memorial service for Stewart.
"Oh God. Marc is the sweetest person you would ever want to know," says Joan Savoury, a family friend.
"I'm heartbroken," says Wesley Graham, another friend. "All I can say is condolences to his family and I hope his soul rests in peace."
Police are asking anyone with information on the killing to contact them. Another family friend, Tamayra Ginyard, is looking for justice and hopes the police can track down those responsible for the killing.
"It's a senseless crime and we want whoever killed him to be caught," she says, "and to be prosecuted to the fullest extent. Because they've taken someone from us that we can't replace."

Marc Stewart
Man found dead in Bahama Breeze parking lot
DULUTH - Driving home from work in Marietta last Wednesday night, Marc Stewart called his longtime girlfriend to ask if she'd like him to pick up some carry-out.
It was the last time she'd hear the Stone Mountain resident alive.
An employee at a Bahama Breeze restaurant on Breckinridge Boulevard in Duluth found Stewart, 39, dead inside his Ford Explorer about 10 p.m. on Valentine's Day.
An autopsy is pending at the Gwinnett Medical Examiners Office to determine his cause of death. Police on Monday declined to say why anyone would want the entertainment executive and father of a 2-year-old girl dead.
"It's too early in the investigation to speak on any motives," said Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Illana Spellman. She said no information as to the identity of any suspects could be released.
Stewart acted as president and CEO of Island Coast Entertainment, a marketing and promotions agency for Caribbean and hip-hop acts staging events in metro Atlanta, according to associates and his MySpace page.
More than 100 family and friends gathered Sunday night for a candlelight vigil in Stewart's honor at the Torch Theaters in Lithonia, where a movie which Stewart had promoted was set to premiere that same night.
Stewart's acquaintances fear he was the victim of a random act of violence, possibly robbery. His neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, said Stewart's debit card and cell phone were used by someone other than him in recent days.
His girlfriend filed a missing persons report last week, she said.
Stewart was "just carefree, always smiling, just very complimentary," said his neighbor. "We are definitely hurting and shocked.
"We want to get this person caught."
Funeral arrangements for Stewart are pending, she said.
Stewart's murder is the second instance of bloodshed linked to the popular Duluth eatery in the last year.
A gunman opened fire on two men - killing Erick Anthony Livsey, 40, of Decatur - Aug. 2 in the same parking lot during a botched cocaine deal, police said.
One man, Miguel A. Dominguez-Reyes, of Lawrenceville, was arrested in December and charged with murder for allegedly orchestrating the drug deal, but the shooter remains at large.
