Original Haleigh Cummings case police narrative

original report
- Police were dispatched to 202 Green Drive, in reference to the report of a missing 5-year-old child. Due to the age of the child, police responded to this location with a Code 3, blue lights and sirens. D/S Bridges and Iarrived on scene at the same time, 3:40. Upon our arrival, I observed a white male standing in the driveway who was visibibly upset. I made contact with the individual who identified himself as Ronald Cummings. Ronald told me that his daughter, Haleigh Cummings, 5, was missing.
Police asked Ronald what happened, and he told me that he had just gotten home from work, and his, "dumb [censored] girlfriend" told him his daughter was missing. Ronald repeadtedly said that someone had taken his child and also said, "when I find him, I'll kill him." Ronald was referring to a 9mm Beretta hand gun which heowed inside of his residence and that if law enforcement found whoever had this child, he would shoot them through the back window of the patrol car. I attempted to get information from Ronald regarding HAleigh, however, due to his emotional state he was unable to provide any useful information.
I then made contact with Misty Croslin, Ronalds girlfriend. Misty told me that she had put the children to bed at approximately 8pm. MIsty said that they were sleeping in HER BED, and when she laid down at around 10:30pm both children were still in bed. I asked MIsty who the other child was and she advised the other child was Haleighs brother. Misty old me that she woke up just before 3am to get a drink and she noticed that Haleigh was missing, however the OTHER child was still in bed. MIsty ran around the residence franticallly looking for haleigh and that she noticed the back door was stanfing open. MIsty said that she was sure the back door had been locked prior to her going to bed.
Mist said that at approximately 5 minutes after she noticed Haleigh missing, Ronal arrived home. MIsty said that as soon as she told Ronald HAleigh was missing, Ronald told Misty to call 911, which she did. I asked MIsty if she ever took Haleigh on a walk, and Misty advised that she sometimes walked with Haleigh to 116 Tyler Street to visit her family.
At this time, Teresa Neves arrived on scene. Teresa is Ronald's mother. Teresa told me that she had been called by Ronalds shortly after he learned HAleigh was missing. Teresa told me that Haleighs mother is Crystal Sheffield, however Ronald has full custody. Teresa told me that Ronald and Crystal have not been disputing the custody of Haleigh. Teresa provided a 2008-2009 school photograph of Haleigh.
While an officer spoke with the family, another coducteda canvass search of the residence in an attemptto locate Haleigh.
Police initiateda track beginning at the back door and down a wooded path, as we travelled down the wooded path, we located what appeared to be asmall child's footprint in the dirt. It should be noted that Ronald said Haleigh's shoes were still located inside the residence. The track lead up to a small pond and then back to the railroad crossing. At the last residence on the right side of the Green Drive was a small building with a door which had been left open. I entered the building but found no one insire
The track then continued past the north residence, where police made a left turn on Monroe Avenue. We made another left onto Buchan Circle, which we followed in a loop back to Monroe Avenue. We then made a left onto Tyler Street, and travelled past 116 Tyler, which is a location where Misty stated she had walked with Haleigh in the past. We then made a right turn on BUffalo Bluff Road to the railroad crossing, where we found were forced to end the track, because the canonwas unable to follow it any further.

The Police Report:-
The official police report is below:
Deputy Nicole Quintiere made the following report concerning an incident that took place 8/5/09 at about 11:30 pm
Scene: 216 4th Avenue Welaka, Florida 32193
Driving directions: Highway 17 south, Left on CR 308B, right on 4th Avenue. Residence: DWMH white in color with add on porch.
On August 5th, 2009 I was dispatched to the parking lot of the Welaka Kangaroo in reference to the report of a battery. When I arrived on scene, I met with Hank Croslin Jr and Hank Croslin Sr and also Lisa Croslin. Upon initial assessment of the situation I gathered that Hank Croslin Jr had been battered by Ronald Cummings.
Upon further investigation into the incident, I spoke with Hank Croslin Jr on his own. Hank stated that he, Lisa and Hank Sr had gotten a phone call from Misty who was crying and yelling. He said that Misty asked for them to come to her residence and pick her up because she no longer wanted to be at the residence with Ronald. In an attempt to obtain his sister, he, Lisa and Hank Sr drove to her residence on 4th Avenue. He stated that when he arrived at the residence on 4th Avenue Ronald came out and was acting crazy. He said that Ronald came out and began "swinging on him". He said that he was hit in the head and neck several times. He said that after they got in their physical altercation, he entered his vehicle in an attempt to drive away and Ronald entered the vehicle on the passenger side and began striking him again. He said that at that time, he drove away and went to the Kangaroo in Welaka to call 911. Hank Jr completed a written statement in reference to the incident. He also signed a charging affidavit against Ronald Cummings for Burglary with Battery. Hank Jr was transported to Putnam Community Medical Center complaining of injury to his neck and head.
After speaking with Hank Jr, I spoke with Lisa Croslin. Lisa stated that she was not sure what Ronald was on but he was not in the right state of mind. She said that up until now she never knew him as being violent. She said that they had received a phone call from her daughter Misty screaming and crying. She said that she was worried about her daughter and went to the residence to check on her. She said that when they arrived on scene Ronald went crazy. She said that when they were in the driveway of the residence Ronald came to the vehicle and hit her son. Lisa completed a written sworn statement in reference to the incident.
It should be noted that Hank Sr was at the scene as well. He stated that he did not wish to complete a written or recorded statement. He said that he did not want his daughter to be mad at him so he did not want to take any action. He did state though that he was at the residence when the fight occurred. He said that Ronald went crazy on his son. He said that they arrived and Ronald came out irate. He said that Ronald hit his son several times and then was forced back into the residence. He stated that after a few more minutes Ronald came back out and initiated another fight. He said that they got into three separate physical altercations before leaving the residence to call 911. No written or recorded statement was provided. He stated that he would be willing to speak in court if a subpoena was issued for him.
After speaking with all three of those subjects, I located Ronald Cummings at 216 4th Avenue. Upon initial contact, I detained Ronald Cummings for my safety and the safety of all others at the scene. It should be noted that Ronald Cummings is usually in possession of some sort of hand gun and it was mentioned that he may have been in possession of it at the current time. Ronald was taken outside of the residence by me and Deputy Nelson. Sgt Cecil Manning stayed in the residence with Misty Croslin and Ronald's grandmother Annette Sykes. Ronald was asked to explain what happened with Hank Croslin Jr. He stated to me that he did not wish to speak that it was his right to remain silent. At that time, I asked Deputy Nelson to stay with Ronald while I spoke with Misty and Annette.
Upon speaking with Misty she stated that she had talked to her brother on the telephone. She said that she asked him why he had been calling her residence all day. She said that he asked her if he could come over and she said no because it was too late. She said that he then made a big ordeal about not being able to see her and said he was coming over anyway. She said that when he arrived at the residence, he began a verbal altercation with Ronald. She then said that Hank Jr came at Ronald and a physical altercation began. She said that Ronald went into the residence as instructed by his grandmother. When Hank did not leave the residence Ronald came back out and another physical altercation began. Misty said that she was trying to break up the fight and got hit in the face two times by Hank Jr and her dad Hank Sr because she was in the middle of the fight. She said that they fought for a little while longer and then her brother and mom and dad left. Misty completed a sworn written statement in reference to the incident.
After speaking with Misty I spoke with Ronald's grandmother Annette Sykes. Annette stated that she was in bed and heard a racket outside of her house. She said she got up and opened the door. She said she saw a group of people outside in her front yard. She said she saw three men in a crowd screaming and yelling. She realized that the men were Ronald Cummings, Hank Croslin Jr and Hank Croslin Sr. She said that they were fighting and Misty and her mother were trying to get them to stop. Misty told them to leave the residence. She said that she attempted to break up the fight and told Ronald to go into the residence and everyone else to leave. She said that she separated Ronald and Hank Jr and sent Ronald in the house. She said she pushed Hank Jr, Sr and Lisa into their van and told them to leave. She said that Hank Jr continued to yell at Ronald. She said that Ronald came back out and they went to fighting again. She said that Hank Jr was in the van and Ronald reached in again after him to continue the altercation. She said that again she sent Ronald into the residence and slammed the van door shut so that Hank, Hank and Lisa would leave. She said that Hank Jr was going to the handy way to call the sheriffs office. Annette completed a sworn written statement in reference to the incident.
It should be noted that Ronald Cummings made it very clear at the scene that he had a right to remain silent and did not wish to speak about the incident without a lawyer. Ronald was placed in the rear seating area of my patrol vehicle. He was advised that he was being charged with Burglary with battery. Ronald was transported to the jail without incident. When we arrived at the jail he advised that he wished to "fill out a statement just like everyone else did against him". He stated also that he wanted to sign charging affidavits in reference to battery against Hank Croslin Jr and Hank Croslin Sr.
In Ronald's statement he stated that three people Hank Croslin Jr, Sr and Lisa Croslin showed up at his grandma's house after they were told not to come there by his wife Misty Cummings. He said that Hank Jr and Sr got out of the van and approached in an "aggressive" manner. He said that he asked Hank Jr to get out of his face and he then came closer. He thought he was going to hit him so he pushed him out of the way. He said that Hank Jr then hit him after Ronald pushed him and the physical altercation began. He said that Hank Sr then entered the fight and held him while Hank Jr hit him. Ronald completed a sworn written statement in reference to the incident and also signed charging affidavits against Hank Croslin Jr and Sr for battery.
Ronald was booked without incident on the charge of Burglary with Battery. His bond is set at $12,504.00. Photographs were taken of Ronald Cummings and Hank Croslin Jr's injuries. The photographs have been uploaded onto the PCSO website for further review. At this time, the charging affidavits against Hank Croslin Jr and Sr will be forwarded to the State Attorney's Office for further review. Any further reports or supplements will be completed and submitted in a timely manner.

Police Reports Detail Misty Croslin Drug Deals! (http://www.artharris.com/2010/01/27/police-reports-detail-misty-croslin-drug-deals/)
1/27/10
It was three days before Christmas when Misty Croslin made her first drug deal with a customer her family overheard her call “Jake,” someone who drove a white car she didn’t know was wired, who had heard she had connections and asked her to score. To hear law enforcement tell it, Misty was princesss of the little big time, the organizer who put the deals together.
This time, Jake wanted 45 Roxycodone, and one of six police reports we’ve posted below detail how he handed her $750 in a McDonald’s parking lot in Palatka, Fla. and she gave him the pills handed to her by a white man in a big truck poilce are now tracking as part of the probe.
But until last week, when she was arrested and charged on six drug trafficking charges that could bring her decades behind bars, her bond set at $950, Misty had no idea her best customer was an undercover cop, or UC, as the police reports we obtained call him.
That day, Dec. 22, the first police report says, Misty and brother, Tommy, climbed into a car they didn’t know was wired for audio and videotape, and just before 5 p.m., she scored what Jake had ordered. He’d be calling again, and again, buying a total of 303 pills in all, worth $3,900, police have recalculated.
Her ex husband, Ronald Cummings, remains behind bars charged with three counts of trafficking; he tells a Florida reporter detectives in the Haleigh case have always paid him a visit, as we were told the day of the arrests they would be doing, using the busts to leverage information about his missing five year old daughter.
And that’s how the deals went down, in three nearby counties, from the Flying J truck stop off I 95 in St. Augustine, where Misty was heading when she told Jake she was “freaking out” because it was her biggest deal ever–155 Hydrocodone she said her confidante, Donna Brock, had given her to sell—for $800.
Over the next few weeks, Jake would call, and Misty would deliver, according to the reports, Misty always the common denominator in the deal as she brought Ronald along for three deals, and his cousin, Hope Sykes, along for another.
All are now behind bars, including Brock, charged with various counts of trafficking, and police have started grilling the players about what they know in the Haleigh Cummings case. If they do find Haleigh as a result of pressure from the busts, that would indeed be the biggest score of all.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
On 20 January 2010, during an interview of Misty Croslin, by Detective John Merchant, in an unrelated case,
Misty made the post-Miranda statements during a recorded interview, that her brother Hank "Tommy" Croslin Jr
had several items in their residence that had been stolen in a recent burglary at an unknown location. Misty
stated she witnessed several household items (ie toiletries, a Gatorade bottle containing miscellaneous coins)
and knew the items did not belong in their residence. As a result of Misty's statements it was learned the
residence next door to the Croslin's had been burglarized during the night before Misty's interview. The victim's
reported only that a 12 gauge shotgun was stolen at the time the incident was reported. Contact was
subsequently made with Lindsy Croslin, Tommy's spouse, and asked if she had witnessed a shotgun being
brought into her residence in the past 24 hours. Lindsy stated she had not seen any firearms and the Sheriff's
Office was more than willing to help her search her residence for the item because she did not want her children
to locate a gun. During the search, several containers of alcohol were located stashed in the top of the master
bedroom closet and numerous folded towels were discovered in the master bedroom bathroom. Though the
firearm was never located in or around the residence it was later learned that all of the bath towels, bottles of
liquor as well as numerous other toiletries were indeed stolen from the residence at XXX Tyler Street, along with
the stolen shotgun.
On 21 January 2010, while continuing the investigation of the residential burglary at XXX Tyler Street in Satsuma I
learned from Lindsy Croslin that she had located items at her residence that did not belong to anyone at the
household and she believed her husband, Hank Croslin Jr, had stolen the items and kept them at their
residence. The items she recognized as not belonging to anyone in the residence was the items listed above as
well as several DVD movies and (4) Gameboy games. Lindsy had already gathered the items and had them
awaiting law enforcement for recovery.
I retrieved the items from the Croslin residence and shed in hopes of identifying where the items had been taken
from. Several neighbors on Tyler Street indicated to myself that Hank Croslin Jr, aka Tommy, was often seen
walking up and down the roadways late at night so they believed any other items that were recovered would be
from the immediate area. As a result of further investigative endeavors I discovered the residence at XXX Tyler
St had its rear screened porch door cut open as well as a rear window pried open and also a broken locking
mechanism from an exterior shed. The residence owner(s), Karen J. Paulsen, was ultimately contacted and
confirmed that the residence had indeed been burglarized.
On 22 January 2010, I responded back to the area of Tyler Street in hopes of the home owner or designee, at XXX Tyler Street, being able to positively identify any items stolen from the residence. Upon arrival, contact was
made with the key holder for XXX Tyler Street, Peggy Hayes, who identified the toiletries, golf cart battery charger
and blender as belonging to the residence at XXX Tyler Street. The items were processed for latent prints and
signed over to Hayes, per the home owner, Karen Paulson.
With the above information, a warrant charging Hank "Tommy" Croslin for the burglary and grand theft from 120
Tyler Street will be sought. Charges stemming from XXX Tyler Street will be forwarded at a later time for further
review.
