Cold case gets another look

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - Law enforcement agencies in Valdosta and Lowndes County utilized new technology to search for clues related to a cold missing persons case.
On October 13 of 2002, Paula Wade and her three-year-old son Brandon went missing. They were last seen at the Commons Apartments off St. Augustine Road.
Wednesday, Valdosta Police and investigators from the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office combed-over the property between the Little River and the Willacoochee River, a place of interest in the investigation.
Police say the search was not based on new information, but to utilize new forensic technology and a new K-9 unit from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.
"We see an opportunity come up to try something new, we'll try it," said Lt. Bobbi McGraw of the Valdosta Police Department. "It can't hurt, and anybody have any information regarding this case-- we're just begging them to please come forward and talk to us. No matter how old the information may be."
Investigators say the search also served as a training session. They will apply this new technology and advancements to other missing person cases.

The search continues for a Valdosta woman and her three-year-old son who have been missing for nearly seven years.
Georgia's Emergency Management Agency brought one of its canines to Valdosta to search for the remains of Paula and Brandon Wade on Wednesday.
The Valdosta Police Department says they hope this will help them uncover new evidence.
"This is important not only to the people in this area, but to the family. We want this case to stay active. We're gonna make it stay active. We're gonna find out what happened in the end. We are gonna find answers," said LT Bobbi McGraw of the Valdosta Police Department.
The Wades vanished from their apartment in October 2002. Police found Paula's SUV the next day, but no sign of mother and son or the toddler's car seat.
Detectives are urging anyone with information to contact the Valdosta Police Department at 229-242-2606.

I find it interesting that Brandon's car seat was taken. I wouldn't think a killer would take a seat for a child he just murdered. Was Brandon's dad ever a suspect, did he have an alibi and where is he today? Just curious.

Paula's husband, staff sergeant Lance Wade, stationed at Shaw Air Force Base, Sumter, South Carolina, has been cleared of any involvement through questioning and a polygraph test.

Missing Persons Tour Stops in Valdosta, Paula and Brandon Wade Case Featured
A road tour featuring missing persons makes a stop in the Azalea City.
The Valdosta Police Department welcomed a missing person road tour organized by the Community United Effort, or CUE Center ,based in North Carolina.
The stop featured the missing persons case of Paula and Brandon Wade.
The mother and son disappeared from their Valdosta apartment almost seven years ago and have not been seen since.
"We need closure," said Regis McGrath, who has not stopped looking for his daughter and grandson. "We need to know exactly what happened and be able to do the proper thing with the two children."
"These families are left out there, especially the long term cases you know without a support system without a rally system for them to continue in the hope that something will develop and their case will resolve," said Monica Caison, CUE founder.
This is the sixth year CUE volunteers have traveled across the country to raise awareness of missing children and adults.
The tour ends August 30th in North Carolina.

ITA about the missing car seat being interesting.
It leads me to think she might have put the car seat into another vehicle and went somewhere with someone.
She worked at Sams for 5 years, she must have had some friends in town or people she met working that she might have gotten into a car with. I can't find any mention of anyone, other than the husband and the roommate, being interviewed.
I wish we knew more.
