Just got back from the Emergency Vets in the City. Buster started hacking and hacking. I looked around to see if he had chewed something up and found half a hair brush. He must have jumped up on my vanity and got it. The part you hold in your hand was almost gone. I checked his throat the best I could and could not feel or see anything.

Couldn't get my vet, so off we went. They did some xrays and found a piece about the size of a 1/3 of a pencil in his stomach. They couldn't do the endoscope because he had ate and the food in his stomach would keep them from finding the object.

So as of right now he is on pepcid,no food, allowed water. He has to see our vet in the morning and he may have to have the endoscope if he doesn't pass it.

He did not do well in the truck. I think the poor little thing thought he was going to get dumped again. He was very happy to get home to the others. He behaved really well with everyone at the Vet Hospital. I was very proud of him.I always worry about him around strangers.

So everyone please say alittle prayer he passes it.:22wink:

Awww....I hope Buster feels better soon. I have a Dane/Boxer mix and he just ate the fingers off of a pair of gloves of mine last night and ate the entire front of my hubby's flannel pajama bottoms a couple weeks ago. My female, when she was a pup, (a chow/cocker/retriever mix) has eaten an entire belt (all that was left was the buckle), a sock, a cable, and a scrunchy....she doesn't eat things like this anymore but she used to do it while we were sleeping just to screw with us....I was glad she outgrew it but Simba is 3 and still eats the craziest things.

Duncan one of my white boxers taught us well. He would eat everything. He was also a counter surfer. He ate remotes, phones anything he could. I don't know what made me leave that brush on the vanity. I should have knew better. Duncan got alittle better with age but he still would get up on the counter and get himself a loaf of bread.:67302: Loved my Duncan.:1222423:

Thanks for your good thoughts about Buster. He is sleeping like a baby and I am all worried about him. Wide awake.

Awww....poor Buster. It really makes ya wonder what they're thinking sometimes, doesn't it? :francis:

Ginger, our golden retriever, got ahold of the plastic scoop we use for their food. When I found what was left of the scoop, I couldn't even figure out what it was. So I'm keeping an eye on her. :71541:

Please keep us updated after the vet appt, ok?

I'm roaring about Duncan and the loaf of bread. :girl_haha:

I will in a bit. I am wired right now. To much caffeine.

Yep, Duncan loved his bread. :67302: I miss him. He taught us well though. We don't leave anything down. I don't know how I forgot about that brush.:0doh:

I have his xrays on a CD to take to the vet. It is really neat how they do that now.

So Ginger has alittle bit of Duncan in her too huh? :67302:

I know there for awhile we were keeping the satellite guy in business buying new remotes. :67302:

LOL - I had a Christmas troll that was sooooo cute. He sat in the candy sleigh. One morning I woke up and he was gone....all that was left was his little scarf, which I found on the floor.

My gsd got sick a couple days later and when they took x-rays, the vet said "did she eat something plastic?"

That's when it dawned on me ~~ Um......YES........MY TROLL!!!!

I still have that little scarf.

So sorry you & Buster are having such a bad night! Both of you are in my prayers.

I just know that Buster is going to be fine. And remember; a vanity is a perfectly logical place to put a hairbrush! So, do not fault yourself. No matter how careful we are sometimes chit happens.:girl_sad:

We should write a book. Duncan never had these problems. He must have had an iron stomach.:67302:

Thanks for saying that. But as I said Duncan taught us well. I should have known better but I guess since he is gone I got lazy. I forgot I got another one just like him except he stays off the counters.:girl_haha:

Thanks for the prayers.

I forgot about this until you mentioned your sleigh. I had 3 pretty candles, they looked like candy canes sitting on a gold plate. One was round like a ball. I got up one morning and it was gone. I guess Duncan thought it was a ball. I found a really small piece of it. I still have the other two.:francis:

One year I decided to make gingerbread boys & girls for my Christmas tree. It took me days to cut 'em out, bake 'em and decorate 'em. I'd punched holes in them before cooking them, so I could hang them on the tree with a pretty ribbon.

I hung about 5 dozen of those babies on the tree.

THE NEXT MORNING I woke up and the only thing left on the tree was the ribbons. Somehow my gsd had gotten all of them - even the ones at the very top of the tree.

She must've stretched realllllllllllly hard to get those! :71541:

Awww, poor Buster! I hope everything ~ahem~ comes out alright.

My boxer, Chloe has never chewed anything besides food items... I consider myself very lucky, and from the sounds of it, rightfully so! The one main thing she gets is a loaf of bread if we leave it on the counter - she eats it every time.
There has been one very bad experience with her eating something...
One year I had been out to get a few last minute things for stockings. I took Chloe with me because she ALWAYS wants to ride, and the weather was very mild. I had a bag full of stuff, and decided to run in one more store really quickly. I left Chloe in the car, wasn't gone but a few minutes, and came back to an empty shopping bag. DUH!!! She ate the entire bag of stuff I just bought, most of it chocolate. I took her immediately to the vet, she ended up staying the night after they induced vomiting and gave her charcoal. I felt like such an idiot. How careless of me...I could have killed her! Thank God, she & I were very lucky, not to mention it happened about 2 seconds away from my vet's office. Talk about GUILT! Sheesh.:duh:

Yes, can you believe it? Poor guy was in the backyard yelping. I ran out there and sure enough.............

He was checked by the vet and was fine. After that incident I was sure to keep them out of his reach. Who woulda thought?

That's so true, Noah. Between the dogs and the horses, I can't count the number of times I've said "These animals are going to be the death of me."

Hubby says if I wouldn't worry about them so much, they wouldn't be, but that's the only thing I do really well. Worry.

Shoot, I loved my kids, but I don't even think I worried this much about them. They could talk and tell me what was wrong. My fur babies can't.

Exactly!

Abby, my pit-mix, was vomiting like crazy on Sunday. I kept thinking "maybe it was this.....or maybe it was that.....I wonder if it could be....."

If she could talk, I wouldn't have driven myself crazy trying to figure out why she was vomiting.

I believe SHE recovered from her temporary illness much faster than I did.

Poor Buster, many prayers that he poops the thing out!

A friend of mine's boxer became ill suddenly last week. She had managed to get into a bag of rock salt that was stashed in a closet. (She can turn doorknobs, creepy dog, hehe)

She was rushed to the vet and while they were treating her for the salt poisoning, she began vomiting up the weirdest stuff, including baby socks, lol! At 8 years old she still runs around happily scarfing everything in sight. She's recovering ok but I agree, boxers never grow up! :)
