The family of an East Texas man is worried about him.

Police say Thurman Wright, 84, of Marshall, left his home at 11:00am yesterday. He was believed to be giving a young man and woman a ride to Farm-to-Market Road 449 in Harrison County. He hasn't been seen since.

Wright is 5'11", 150 pounds, and was last seen in a blue baseball cap, gray/black jacket, white collared shirt, khaki pants and black Reebok tennis shoes. His truck is a 1997 extended cap Chevy pickup, green with a brown stripe, Texas license plate 7CWG59.

Elderly man last seen wearing blue baseball cap

MARSHALL, TX - A Marshall man is missing. Thurman Wright was last seen February 23 leaving his home at about 11:00 in the morning.

Mr. Wright is black, 84 years old, 5'11", 150 pounds and has short gray and black hair. He was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, a gray/black jacket, a white collared shirt, khaki pants and black Reebok tennis shoes.

Wright left his home in his 1997 Chevrolet extended cab pick-up truck with Texas license plate 7CWG59. The truck is green with a brown stripe at the bottom. The rear passenger tail light has gray industrial tape over it.

The missing man has not made contact with any family members. It is believed that he gave two acquaintances, a younger black man and woman, a ride to their house in Harrison County off of FM 449.

Good Samaritan helps locate missing man

An elderly Marshall, Texas, man who went missing Monday after he left home to give two acquaintances a ride was found unharmed today in north central Louisiana after a Good Samaritan helped him.

Thurman Wright, 84, was last seen at his residence in Marshall. Police said he gave a couple he knew a ride to their residence outside Marshall on Farm Road 449.

Marshall police this afternoon said Wright for an unknown reason turned up in Arcadia, La., where he had run out of gas and decided to sleep in his truck.

An Arcadia resident who saw Wright's predicament took him to a gas station and bought him $40 worth of fuel.

That man, Keelon Monroe, called his wife while he was being a Good Samaritan, and she told told him about a missing man from Marshall. Mrs. Wright had just seen a mid-day news report about Wright's disappearance.

Monroe checked Wright's auto insurance card when they got back to his truck and called Wright's agent in Marshall, who notified police.

Monroe then escorted Wright to Shreveport, where he was reunited with relatives.
