Police search for missing 96 year old woman

Staff Writer

A massive search is underway for a missing 96 year old Crawford County woman. Myrtle Albers lives alone on Ridgeway Lane, just off Graphic Road. Her son lives on the same property, but in another house.

Albers' son said he checked on her at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday night and she was fine. When he came back at 8:00 this morning she was gone, and her bed was made. He and other family members searched the property for 45 minutes. The Crawford County Sheriff's Department was then called.

They sent out a call to all those living in the immediate area and are now setting up a search and rescue headquarters at the Graphic Fire Station. State police will be taking up its plane to search the area from above.

If you see Mrs. Albers, please call police.

Search over for 96 year old Crawford County woman

The missing 96 year old Crawford County woman has been found and is back at home.

Myrtle Albers was found not far from her rural Crawford County home north of Alma shortly after noon on Wednesday.

This ended the search that Crawford County deputies and state police were conducting since early this morning when she was reported missing.

Searchers found her standing barefoot under a tree near on her property about a quarter mile from her house.

Chief Deputy Ron Brown said it couldn't have turned out better.

"She's in good condition, seemed to be conscious, seemed to be alert. EMS paramedics checked her over and she was able to go home."

Deputy Brown said the new alert express system the county is using helped locate the missing woman.

The system sent calls to residents in Mrs. Albers' neighborhood and one of the neighbors called her son who hunts in this rural community.

The son and his wife joined the search and found Mrs. Albers.
