Disappearance has police concerned
February 26, 2009 - 10:51 PM
THE GAZETTE
Monument police are looking for a man who's been missing since Friday, and they said details about his personal life suggest he could be in trouble.
The missing man is 50-year-old Gregory Proctor, who's white, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 140 pounds and has blond hair, blue eyes, a surgical scar and a rod in one leg. He was last seen at a construction site in Monument where he works as a framer, police said. He was reported missing Tuesday.
Authorities are sometimes leery of reports of adults who disappear because some people voluntarily drop out of sight, but Monument Officer Kieth Moreland said the evidence suggests Proctor is at risk. Proctor apparently left with no money, and he made a credit-card purchase for gas the same afternoon. There's been no activity on the card since, Moreland said.
"He told his common-law wife one thing, and he told his co-workers another. He gave them both false leads as to where he was going to be," Moreland said. "You have a middle-age male with health issues, financial worries, and those are things that kind of spell disaster. It's very high-risk."
Police said Proctor drives a white, 1995 Chevy 2500 pickup truck with an overhead ladder rack with a ladder attached and toolboxes in the bed.
Anyone who knows where Proctor is should call Monument police at 481-3253.
