The two girls never made it home from school and police say Lorenzo has been staying with Gambino and her parents in Peoria. While they don't have reason to believe the girls are in any danger, they want to make contact with them to ensure they haven't been harmed.

Gambino is described as a Hispanic female, 5'2", 110 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Lorenzo is described as a Hispanic female, 4'10", 125 pounds with black hair (but may have dyed it red) with brown eyes.

It's unclear what the girls were wearing when they went missing.

Anyone with information about these girls is being urged to call Peoria police at 623-773-8311.

PD: 1 Peoria teen runaway turns self in, 2nd remains missing

Last Update: 4:29 pm

Peoria police have located a runaway teenager, but they're still looking for a second, according to police spokesman Mike Tellef.

At about 2:30 p.m. Monday, Peoria police officers met with Maria Del Carmen Gambino, 15, in Mesa.

Gambino told police she'd been staying with some people she'd recently met and when they saw her story on TV newscasts they convinced her to turn herself in and left her at a pay phone where she called her mother, according to Tellef.

Gambino and Gloria Montero Lorenzo, also 15, were reported missing Friday evening.

Gambino's family told detectives Lorenzo had been staying with the family and neither girl returned from Raymond S. Kellis High School Friday afternoon.

Family members called police at about 7:30 p.m.

On Monday, detectives picked up Gambino and interviewed her. Gambino admitted to detectives that Lorenzo and herself met with some friends of Lorenzo's in Mesa, according to Tellef.

Tellef said Gambino told detectives Lorenzo decided not to return home and left with her unknown friends.

Gambino has back with her family, but Lorenzo remains listed as a runaway juvenile.

Lorenzo is described as a Hispanic female, 4 feet 10 inches tall, 125 pounds with black hair she might have died red and brown eyes.

If anyone has information on the location of Lorenzo, they're asked to call the Peoria Police Department at 623-773-8311.

One of two runaway Peoria teens was reunited with her family Monday afternoon, but the other girl was still missing.

Maria Del Carmen Gambino, 15, was picked up in Mesa by Peoria police at about 2:30 p.m. Monday. Gloria Montero Lorenzo, 15, reportedly was still with friends and considered a runaway.

Gambino told police that the two girls had met up with some of Lorenzo's friends and left with them for the weekend. When those friends saw media reports that the girls were missing, they urged Gambino to turn herself in and left her at a pay phone, where she called her mother, according to authorities.
Lorenzo, who had been living with Gambino's family, decided not to return home and stayed with the friends, police said.

The girls had been missing since Friday afternoon, when they did not return home after class at Raymond S. Kellis High School.

Lorenzo is described as 4 feet 10 inches tall, 125 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair that may have been dyed red.
