AMBER Ready II Enrollment Platform
to Officially Launch On April 1, 2009
ROCKAWAY, N.J., March 2 /PRNewswire/ -- AMBER Ready, Inc., formerly known as AMBER Alert Safety Centers, Inc., today announced that its novel AMBER Ready II enrollment platform will be officially launched on April 1, 2009, allowing parents or guardians with children under the age of 18 to easily store their children's preconfigured AMBER Ready Profile in their personal wireless multimedia phone.
Commenting on the Company's formal corporate name change, Kai Patterson, founder, Chairman and CEO of AMBER Ready, stated, "We changed our name to avoid any potential confusion between the AMBER Ready Program and the Wireless AMBER Alert Program. Although the two programs use wireless phone technology, they are vastly different, but work in conjunction with each other. The AMBER Ready Program allows parents to create and have instant access to their children's profiles, thus reducing the time it takes law enforcement to confirm a child is missing and disseminating an alert. The Wireless AMBER Alert Program was created to enable police to disseminate missing children alerts to the general public over their wireless phones."
AMBER Ready is working to empower parents nationwide with the tools necessary to significantly reduce the lapse of time between when a child is determined missing and when an AMBER Alert is triggered by local law enforcement. The AMBER Ready Program enables parents or guardians with children under the age of 18 to upload their children's pre-configured AMBER Ready Profile in their personal wireless multimedia phone. By having a child "AMBER Ready," parents and guardians can ensure that local law enforcement has the ability to instantly initiate a "Be-On-the-Lookout" (BOLO), Missing Person Alert and/or an AMBER Alert using the child's identification information "locked and loaded" in the parent's phone.
Patterson added, "With the AMBER Ready II enrollment platform, parents will not need to wait until we host a child safety and enrollment event in their area. By simply calling our 24-hour call center, accessing our new website (www.amberready.com), or keying enrollment information into their wireless phone, parents and guardians can ensure that their children are 'AMBER Ready.' Moreover, we will be able to reach and empower millions of families in a fraction of the time it would have taken through our former distribution model involving individual safety centers and special community events."
According to AMBER Ready Senior Vice President Frank Del Vecchio, former Director of Public Safety for Bergen County, New Jersey, "When children are reported missing, the three most vital factors to aid in their recovery are:
Speed - local law enforcement disseminating missing child alerts as quickly as possible (AMBER Ready)
Investigation - law enforcement conducting a thorough investigation (AMBER Ready)
Eyeballs - making the missing child's profile available to as many people as possible (AMBER Alert)
"The AMBER Ready Program supports the first two factors, while the Wireless AMBER Alert Program supports the third."
The AMBER Ready Program enables investigating officers responding to missing children to wirelessly transmit missing children profiles instantly to their headquarters for alerts without the need to physically rush a child's information back to their departments. Identity items, such as photographs, identification cards, descriptive data does not have to be gathered, prepared or driven to police stations and then uploaded, which could take hours. Furthermore, once investigating officers transmit a missing child's AMBER Ready Profile from a parent's wireless phones back to their stations, they are free to focus on thoroughly investigating the child's disappearance.
Statistics published by the NCMEC show that 797,500 children under the age of 18 were reported missing in a one-year period of time studied by the U.S. Department of Justice, resulting in an average of 2,185 children reported missing each day. Every 40 seconds, a child is reported missing in the United States. What's more troubling is that 73% of violent crimes against children that are reported missing occur within the first three hours of their disappearance; 99% occur within the first four hours.
A national survey of parents revealed that not all parents have information critical to recovering children when abductions occur. According to law enforcement officials, information such as height, weight, eye color and a recent photograph are essential when searching of a missing child. By contrast, the survey showed that, overall, 23% of parents do not know the height, weight and eye color of their children. Further, in a survey conducted by AMBER Ready of more than 3,000 parents, only 2,994 wrongly believed that local law enforcement must wait between 24 and 48 hours before triggering an alert, and believe they must first exhaust all personal efforts to locate their missing child before notifying police. This misconception has led to more than 52% of all missing child reports being made after a child has been missing for at least two hours. In accordance with the 1990 National Child Search Assistant Act, local law enforcement is required to immediately respond to a missing child report and immediately disseminate an alert.
When enrolling through the fast and easy AMBER Ready II process, each parent or guardian will receive:
The password-protected AMBER Ready II program uploaded to their wireless phone,
A backup copy of the child's profile sent to parent's (or guardian's) e-mail for replacement phone reloads;
A free wireless phone car charger to maintain power in case of an emergency;
24-hour emergency support to help police transmit missing child profiles from parent's phone to police stations;
A Child Safety DVD containing safety tips, techniques and an emergency missing child instructional video;
An Internet Child Safety Browser tool with parental blocking and monitoring options; and
Production of 1000 free full color posters paid for by AMBER Ready if the child is ever confirmed missing.
About AMBER Ready, Inc.
AMBER Ready, Inc. has pioneered the nation's first wireless program enabling parents to securely store their child's identity information within their wireless phone and providing the technology platform for police to disseminate an alert from a parents' wireless phone immediately upon a child being abducted or found to be missing. Through the wireless transmission of stored photographs and descriptive data by police as a Be-On-the-Look-Out (BOLO) or as an official AMBER Alert, the AMBER Ready Program is expected to dramatically reduce the average time between determining a child is missing and the commencement of a meaningful search by local law enforcement, thus significantly improving the odds for rapid recovery. In anticipation of pursuing a public listing in the future, the Company has engaged the firm of John Thomas Financial as its investment banking firm.
