Woman Found Guilty of
Baby's Clothes Dryer
Death

- A Louisiana woman has been found guilty of killing her baby by putting him into a clothes dryer and turning the machine on.
A jury convicted Lakeisha Adams of second-degree murder Saturday for the death of her 3-month-old son, Jailand in December 2005. The local coroner's office said the child suffered blunt force trauma to his head as well as second and third degree burns on half of his body. The mother, who also had a 1-year-old child, was 18 at the time.
Police in the town of Bogalusa said Adams admitted putting the infant in the dryer and turning it on, but did not explain why.
Her lawyer asked jurors to find her not guilty or not guilty by reason of insanity. Adams is expected to be sentenced later this month.

Insane? No. Put her in jail where she belongs. Forever.

I'm with you, Roamer. Poor little Jailand, may he rest in peace now.

I am just disgusted by these young mothers and what they do to their children. If they don't want their children there is no need to harm or kill them, give them to someone who would love and care for these unwanted babies.

Something truly has to be done, there is no reason on God's green earth to harm one as innocent as a child. Poor baby, I truly feel so bad for what he endured in those 3 short months of life and what he felt as he was dying in that dryer. What did she do, just stand there and watch him being burned alive? :cray:

No insanity defense. LWOP fits well....:madranting94dp:

This just turns my stomach. She needs to go to jail for the rest of her life.

God bless that poor baby.

Why do people keep doing these things to their babies? I will never understand it. This baby was only 3 months old for heavens sake. Obviously this gal is a suite short of a full deck. I cannot imagine anybody thinking this would be ok.

Children having children. Some can handle it, others can't. The problem here is, how to difrenciate between the two and know who'll make a good parent and who won't? We can't and therein lies the problem with society. It's not our right to say who can and who can't but by letting anyone have a child we are opening up the world to mass abuse. I wish there was a way to tell or a law to say you have to be of such and such age but will that even work?
Absolutly heartbreaking!

I wish there was a way to know if someone at a young age would be a good parent or not. If there was a law saying a person has to do certain things before having a child we know that there would be someone saying that the law was taking away their rights and the law would not hold up in court. I do not know what is the answer but it seems with each generation of children born that as they grow up I believe part of the problem has to lay with the parents who raised them. I saw it with parents of my girls friends and now I have seeing it with certain people my daughters age who have children. It is like these poor babies are nothing but possessions and the parents are so involved in their own lives that they do not concentrate on what is important in life which should be the proper care of their children.

I think you hit the nail right on the head, gram. Good or bad, children learn from their parents.

We need licenses to get married, hunt, fish, etc., and anyone can (and does) have a baby.

I get so angry when I see these women on TV with six guys lined up for paternity tests to see who's the father of their baby.
