SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. (CBS) A desperate search is on in New Jersey for a mentally-challenged woman who vanished, CBS 2 HD has learned.
22-year-old Erin McNamara of South Plainfield was last seen around 7 p.m. Wednesday night.
Police released a photo of a man believed to have been the last one with McNamara. He is identified as 29-year-old Nicholas Jelicks.
CBS 2's Magee Hickey visited the missing woman's mother, Laura McNamara, who made a tearful plea for her daughter.
"She never disappears like this," said McNamara. "She's always here with me at all times."
Erin, who is developmentally delayed and hearing impaired was last seen in nearby Spring Lake Park, just a short distance from her house, playing basketball with a man that maintenance workers in the park said they'd never seen before and thought looked suspicious:
"He's not a familiar face. We do have undesirables in the park. He just didn't seem right. Something inside me said he's no good," said Jerry Curran, a park maintenance worker.
Park workers said they saw Erin and the man walk out of the park headed towards Plainfield in the late afternoon. When the 22-year-old woman didn't come home hours later, her family called police:
"We have searched through the night, even with helicopters. But we're going to keep searching," said Southfield Police Chief John Ferraro.
Erin is described as 5' 6" tall and 128 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes:
Back on Hamilton Boulevard, Erin's family is waiting, hoping and praying that she is safe and sound:
"She's the type that will just go with a person…even if that person would do something bad," said her distraught mother.

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. (WPIX) -- The desperate search is over for a missing woman who is hearing impaired and mentally disabled. The family of Erin McNamara has confirmed she has been found unharmed.
McNamara, 22, was reported missing shortly before midnight Wednesday. Police said she was last seen at a park with 29-year-old Nicholas Jelicks, who they called a "person of interest" in the case. Reports describe Jelicks as a homeless man with a lengthy criminal record.
The two were spotted near the woman's home Thursday around 5:00 pm, according to police. Jelicks, who served time in prison in 1999 and 2000, is expected to be charged for not registering as a sex offender in Plainfield, when he lived there several months ago.
It's still unclear whether Jelicks will be charged in connection with McNamara's disappearance. Police are still investigating the incident.

Yes you are making sense. Unless he forced her to be with him it seems no one can do anything about it.

Police continue to probe man's role in South Plainfield woman's disappearance
By KEN SERRANO • Staff Writer • March 27, 2009
MIDDLESEX COUNTY — The Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a convicted sex offender's connection to the case of a 22-year-old developmentally disabled woman who went missing from her South Plainfield neighborhood Wednesday night and was found a day later.
Nicholas Jelicks, 29, was identified as a "person of interest" by South Plainfield police during a massive search for the woman Thursday. He and the woman, Erin McNamara, were spotted in Plainfield before 5 p.m. Thursday by a passerby who recognized them from fliers that police had handed out.
Jelicks was being held in Union County Jail in Elizabeth last night in lieu of $10,000 bail, charged with violating the community supervision requirement of registering his address with police.
It was unknown last night which Union County town charged him.
Jelicks spent four and a half months in prison in 2007 for violating the same provisions as a Megan's Law sex offender, according to the state Department of Corrections.
Jim O'Neill, spokesman for the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, said authorities in Somerset and Union counties also were investigating the South Plainfield woman's case.
The woman met Jelicks near her home while playing basketball with her 18- and 23-year-old brothers and a group of friends Wednesday evening.
"She said she was going to get a bag of chips and then we didn't see her," said her brother Eric McNamara, 23.
Jelicks asked her to go to Plainfield with him to visit friends, the young woman told the Home News Tribune.
After going to Plainfield, they took a train to Bound Brook and spent the night in an abandoned home there, she said.
Her cell phone was out of battery power, breaking off a critical connection to her family, her mother Laura McNamara said.
"She has to be supervised at all times," she said. "Right now, we're just happy to have her home."
Jelicks has had several brushes with the law.
He spent 13 months in prison between 1999 and 2000 after pleading guilty to aggravated criminal sexual contact, according to the Department of Corrections and court records.
The original charges against Jelicks were sexual assault by force and criminal restraint, charges that were dismissed under a plea agreement.
Between 2003 and 2004, he served nearly a year behind bars on a charge of possessing heroin, according to the department and court records.
His record also includes a criminal trespass charge out of Middlesex County that was downgraded to defiant trespass and dealt with in municipal court. He was also charged with other violations of Megan's Law, which requires sex offenders to register their addresses with police.

Man found with missing woman is jailed
The convicted sex offender found with a missing South Plainfield woman Thursday has not been charged for his role in that incident, borough Police Chief John Ferraro said yesterday.
But Nicholas Jelicks, 29, was charged with violating parole and is being held in the Union County Jail in Elizabeth on $10,000 bail, a jail spokesman said.
Erin McNamara, a 22-year-old hearing-impaired and developmentally disabled woman, was reported missing about 11:45 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said McNamara and Jelicks had met a few days earlier and spent Wednesday night in an abandoned Bound Brook home.
McNamara was returned to her family Thursday night. Jelicks was transferred to the Union County Jail.
Police agencies and volunteers spent nearly 17 hours searching for McNamara and Jelicks.
A Plainfield business owner spotted them about 5 p.m., and police took them into custody, police said.
Jelicks, who was once a resident of South Plainfield, spent a year in jail after a 1999 aggravated sexual assault charge, according to Department of Corrections records. He has returned to jail for drug offenses and parole violations.
Police said Jelicks was released from jail on March 16, though they would not say where or why he had been incarcerated. They said he failed to register as a sex offender when he lived in Scotch Plains after his release.
