Runaway juvenile might now be in area

PALLADIUM-ITEM • March 19, 2009

Kentucky State Police are investigating a case involving a runaway juvenile who they think might have returned to Richmond.

Tyler Mullins, 16, left his father's residence at Busy, Ky., and has not been in contact with him since.

Mullins is a white male approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall and 110 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.

Kentucky State Police say Mullins is classified as an endangered runaway. He grew up in Richmond and they think he might have returned to this area.

Anyone harboring Mullins is subject to face criminal charges in Kentucky and could be extradited from Indiana to face those charges there.

A photograph and other information on Mullins is posted on the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children Web site, www.missingkids.com.

State police are asking anyone with any information to call (606) 435-6069 or (800) 222-5555 or contact your local police agency.

Authorities in Perry County are continuing the search for a teenager who has now been missing for more than three weeks.

Roger Mullins said the last time he saw his 16-year-old son Tyler was Wednesday, February 18 before they went to bed, and when his fiancé went to wake Tyler up so he could get ready for school the following morning he wasn’t there.

“We went to bed about 11:30 Wednesday night and Thursday morning when my fiancé got up to get him ready for school he was gone,” Mullins said, but the window in his room was raised and a notebook was left on his bed with a letter in it from Tyler saying he was leaving home.

Mullins said he and his son had gotten into some arguments before and even though they were trying to work things out he thought he might try to do something like this, but he didn’t expect it to happen Wednesday night because his son seemed fine.

Mullins described his son, a student at Perry Central High School, as a homebody who loves his computer and games.

Mullins says he hasn’t had any contact with his son since he went missing and has no idea where he might have gone, but noted that Tyler’s mother who lives in Richmond, Indiana has had contact with him through e-mail one time since he left.

Mullins said all that he and his family wants is for his son to be found and brought home or information about his whereabouts.

“We want him found safe and brought back home and if he don’t want to come home we are willing to work it out with him to make other options,” Mullins said while adding, “I hope he is safe and he will contact somebody or if anybody has any information on him that they would contact somebody and let them know. We are worried about him and hope he is safe. We’d like to hear from him or somebody who has seen him.”

Trooper Tim Mullins with the Kentucky State Police is investigating the case, and says so far he has no new leads to indicate where the teenager may be.

"We have absolutely no new leads as to the location of this child," he said.

Trooper Mullins added that whomever Tyler may be staying with is committing a felony crime, and unless they come forward to tell authorities or his family where he is staying, police will prosecute and those persons could face jail time.

Roger Mullins asks for anyone with any information about the whereabouts of his son Tyler Dean Mullins to contact the Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard at 606-435-6069 or him at 606-435-2145. Anyone with information may also call these numbers 606-438-6585, 606-438-4756, 606-279-4332 and 606-436-2682.

Tyler Mullins weighs 110 lbs. and is described as being of a tall and slinky build with brown eyes and blondish brown hair.
