Police continued their search today for a 74-year-old Springville man after he failed to turn up overnight.
Koyle Cram left his home in his family's pickup around 2 p.m. Monday, saying he was going to the store. When he hadn't returned by about 5 p.m., his family called police.
Officers began searching in Springville and neighboring areas, then broadened the search county wide, then state wide.
But by 10 p.m. Monday, Caron said Cram's son informed police that his father had some serious medical problems, and officers entered Cram into the National Crime Information Center as a missing person.
Cram had recently been released from a hospital where he was being treated for emphysema and was described as both disoriented and ill. He did not have medication or oxygen with him when he left.
Cram's family had simply said he had "not been himself lately," but his son told police of "much deeper concerns" about his father's health, Caron said.
Caron said Cram's family made a long list of places he might have gone, but they range from a nearby canyon to Wyoming.
"We have no idea what direction he would have headed," Caron said.
Cram is 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighs 100 to 110 pounds and has brown hair. He was last seen driving a tan Ford Ranger pickup. Anyone with information should call 801-489-9421.
