Family continues search for Dunham

By Kathryn Cosse • kcosse@communitypress.com (kcosse@communitypress.com)

• April 17, 2009

More than three weeks after her disappearance, Christina Dunham's family is trying to keep the search for their loved one going.
According to Clermont County Sheriff A.J. "Tim" Rodenberg, Dunham, 34, was last seen Saturday, April 4.
She left her home on Honeysuckle Drive in Amelia to go to work at the New Richmond McDonald's.
Rodenberg said investigators do not suspect foul play.
They have been working with family members and contacting other agencies about Christina, but there are no updates so far.
Her husband, David Dunham, has spent the days since her disappearance driving around the area, talking to people, putting up fliers and looking for his wife's car.
He said he hasn't been getting a lot of sleep. Friends and family are continually checking with police, airports, post offices - any place where Christina could be spotted.
Her sister, Jamie Carmen, of Harrison, has created fliers to post on Craigslist and other Web sites.
Christina's daughters, both in their teens, have helped to get the word out, too.
"They're having a really hard time," said Carmen.
Christina left home April 4 wearing her McDonald's uniform, said David Dunham, but left her cell phone, iPod and cigarettes behind - which makes him believe she intended to return.
There's been no activity in her bank account since and the family is waiting to see if anyone picks up her next paycheck.
Dunham said the couple had fought before, but his wife never went this long without contacting friends or family.
Though she's been depressed recently, he said Christina would tell him if she was leaving.
Carmen agrees.
"She's blunt. If she's got something on her mind, she's going to tell you straight out," she said, "She wouldn't leave, never to be seen or heard from again."
Dunham plans to keep up the search, but said he's running out of money by putting so much into fliers.
Family members are driving in to help him patrol the area, but he said he doesn't know where else they can drive: "There's only so many roads."
Carmen is keeping up hope her sister will return soon, that maybe she just needed a vacation.
"I know it's a far fetch, but I just want my sister to come home safe," she said. "We are at a loss. I really don't know what else to do."

This car was pulled from the Ohio River in New Richmond on May 21, 2009. (WKRC-TV) Investigators are working to identify a body found inside a car in the Ohio River Thursday evening. The car was spotted by some passersby sticking out of the water at the end of the Augusta Street Boat ramp in New Richmond around 7:20 p.m.

Clermont County rescue workers and the Hamilton County dive team spent several hours working to pull the blue Toyota Tercel from the water. When they did, the found a body of a woman inside the vehicle.

Family members of a missing Amelia woman were on the scene waiting for word from Sheriff's deputies about what may be inside the car. It matches the description of the car driven by Christina Dunham, who left for work on April 4th and was never heard from again.

This morning, investigators aren't saying whether the body found inside that car was that woman. Local 12 continues to follow this developing story and we'll post new information on the case here as soon as we receive it.

Body Found In Submerged Car Identified
The body found inside a submerged car in the Ohio River is that of an Amelia woman who disappeared in April.

The Hamilton County Coroner's Office identified the woman as Christina Dunham.

Dunham had been missing since April 4 when she was last seen going to work at a McDonald's in New Richmond.

Dunham's car was pulled from the Ohio River near the boat ramp at the end of Augusta Street in New Richmond late Thursday night. Augusta Street leads directly into the Ohio River.

The Clermont County Sheriff's Office says preliminary reports from the autopsy indicate no foul play or death from criminal activity.

Officials say more tests are underway.

So sorry to hear this. My condolences to Christina's family.

I wonder if the weather was bad in that area the day she left for work.
