Park Re-Dedicated In Memory Of Young Greensboro Murder Victim
Someone raped and killed 7-year-old Shalonda Poole in 1990.
Greensboro, NC -- Family members and community leaders remembered a young Greensboro murder victim Friday night.
They re-dedicated The Shalonda Poole Park at Jones Elementary.
Greensboro's mayor and police chief joined the victim's family for the emotional memorial service.
Someone raped and killed the 7-year-old in 1990. Police found her body the next day, but they still have not found her killer.
Shalonda's mother says words could not describe how happy she felt about today's dedication ceremony.
There will also be a community celebration in Poole's honor at the Warnersville Community Center Saturday. The music, games and other events run from noon until 5:00pm.
