I love the auditions!! Can't wait! I just got into this show last year.
I know, I know......last year I stopped to view it while my son was watching and absolutely got hooked. Couldn't stop laughing while thinking that so many people have GUTS!!! :hifive:

I've already got it flagged to come on tonight so I don't get busy and forget it.
On the one hand, it's mean of us to laugh at people, but on the other, if they put themselves out there and have no talent whatsoever, they're just asking for negative criticism.

Woo-Hoo two hours tonight. I just get all embarrassed for those who are actually tone deaf.
Hey, look at that Asian dude, he went off to make some commercials, so even if you can't hold a tune, you will become famous. :girl_haha:
I cringe when I hear Simon, he doens't hold back at all.
I'm concerned about Paula and really hope she doesn't embarrass herself like last season when she couldn't sit still in her chair. She too is suffering from something, besides that chronic pain. I just hope she doesn't become unglued. :faintTHUD:

Kanda watched her reality show when it was on and she said that Paula had some kind of breakdown in front of the cameras because of some 'part' she didn't get. She definitely is goofy sometimes. Simon, I read, is suppose to 'tone it down' this season.

last night was just deplorable!! That one girl who cussed and cussed. I think she belted out a great Grace Slick tune, but her ATTITUDE just stunk! I think she might have had a chance with somebody in a band, but holy cow, what she did on camera to tell Simon off......:a1chic:
I wanted to post last night, but I couldn't get the board to log on...technical problems.
I think that Simon liked that Kristy Jo person. The young lady from Oregon. I think that was her name. So far, nobody has stuck out for me. More to come though....:22wink:

Well, I found that I am not as evil as I believed myself to be. Last night, the guy that sang really, really low & looked as if he had no top teeth - I almost cried I felt so bad for him. He was just crushed.
Oh, and the 16 yr old girl with the sick mother - she DID make me cry. I would suck as a judge, they'd cry & I'd say, "Ok, you can go on to Hollywood. Just please don't cry..". :rolleye0001:

No kidding...I was surprised that they didn't haul him out right away - and then they let him keep getting closer to the table...strange. I was cringing.....
Yeah, not sure how I feel about the nanny yet. I do think it is possible to try and live as pure a life as possible having some good guidelines set by parents. What I didn't like and what made me skeptical was tooting one's horn about it. Even if it wasn't a blatant "I'm a good person" toot, it was definately tooting....

LOL, you're right. Some of them even argue with the judges and tell them they'll be famous one day. :girl_haha: I believe the one disgruntled contestant that stands out in my mind is the young, African American woman who was a good bit over weight and wore that bare midriff white outfit with the skirt down below her massive belly. Now that lady was determined that she was meant to win and cursed everyone in sight who disagreed with her. She acted like she was ready to whip the whole crew and looked as if that would be no problem for her. I can't even remember a thing about her singing but her personality made a lasting impression.

well....how about Wednesday's evening of strange people auditioning? The last person to audition was just plain ol' goofy with his silver, sequined hat and cape.
But the judges jumping in to dance with him......:girl_haha: that was the kicker!
The young man who farms? I think he could have a career in country music. I'm glad they gave him a chance to go to Hollywood, but I don't think he'll win; just maybe some record producer would give him a chance and sign him up.
Did any of you see the guy who was dripping wet from nerves? He was just so nervous and sang poorly but thought he sounded great? :z0tdntknw:

I think they should have a prelimanary panel that they have to get past before they make it to Randy, Paula and Simon. I mean some of those crazy ppl can't even function in public and shouldn't have to disgrace themselves in front of America:0009: They could still put the worst of the one's that make it past the first panel.

I agree, Trina. With so many people vying for a spot to Hollywood, maybe they should weed out the PRE-HollyWEIRD people.

The dude in the silver cape....his adoration of Simon (which I sort of share) was funny because I think he was really sincere. But I gotta say, the stupid song was running through my head ALL NIGHT.
The wierdest audition for me was the chic in red whose inspiration was Celine.....

MTV News
(http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1579761/20080116/id_0.jhtml)
On Tuesday night, "American Idol" audiences were introduced to Kristy Lee Cook, the winsome 23-year-old kickboxing cage-fighter from Oregon who purportedly sold her favorite horse to pay her way to the Philadelphia auditions. Following the two-hour, season-seven premiere, fans rushed to the Internet's various "Idol" forums and message boards, praising Cook's performance and declaring her an early favorite for the show's eventual title crown.
Others, though, went on the offensive to protest the comely blonde's "Idol" eligibility, considering she's not exactly the greenest contender in the running. Of course, there were a few others who just couldn't help but comment on the obvious: "That chick's so freakin' hot."
Cook, as MTV News reported Tuesday, is a country artist who was once signed to Arista Nashville and managed by Marty Rendelman, who counts LeAnn Rimes as a former client. Cook also had a deal with Britney Spears' production company, and the embattled pop star was set to appear in one of Cook's videos. Spears never did appear in the clip, which is probably a good thing, seeing as it featured a half-naked dude and images of the Confederate flag.
More at the link, and a picture of Cook, in case you don't remember her.

She can imitate other singers, and they had her do Britney Spears first, then some country singer that I didn't know, then she sang in her own voice. She sang a country song & I know nothing about country music, so I couldn't tell ya what it was.
Her top is another story. I can describe it in detail!!! It was red, off the shoulders, solid red to just below the bust (on the sleeves too) then below that, it was red & white tie dye. The sleeves were long & belled out at the end. It was so cute! Loved it, gotta have it!:s1gyahoo:
Trina - is your son's dog a Shar Pei? My brother had 2 of them, they were great dogs, but the female was very protective of her puppies! Their female actually bit their daughter's friend when she leaned over to look at the pups. The one & only time she was ever aggressive. She was a rescue, though, and had some issues.

It takes a lot of balls to perform a John Lennon song, especially Imagine. The guy can sing... but no, he can't do that song justice IMO. No one can.

There is so much talent this season but this kid...he's definately one to keep an eye on....
Not only can he sing, he's such a sweetheart!!!!! If I had a daughter, he would so be allowed take her on a date if he wanted...and that's saying alot if you know me....
I think he is the CUTEST THING EVER!!! I wish I had a daughter that could date him! :girl_haha:
On top of being adorable, he can sing his tail off! The rest of those guys are going to have a terrible time beating him. I think most of America is already completely in love with him. I know I am! I could just squeeze him til he pops! :love0085:

That said, the guy had the balls to do the song... so I give him that.
I'm also a huge Beatles fan and I don't really think younger people can't relate to Beatles music quite like we do becuz we were there. There music was more than music it was a feeling, a way of life, a great time to be young!
I was in a Beatles fan club and in love with Paul......:girl_haha:

He's a sweet, talented kid who any parent would be lucky to have date their daughter! I think he's definately the one to beat this year although, I will say, I think this is the most talented top 24 I've seen in the last few seasons. Not sure what all the fuss is over Carly because I think several of the other girls have better voices - must be a matter of taste. Michael Johns is really good too...

Yeah, I agree. This is a very talented group. I love Michael Johns, too. The boy with dreads - he's also one of my favorites. I can't choose one fav, those 3 are my top ones. I'm not terribly impressed with any of the girls. I think the boys definitely outshine the girls this year.

Every Idol season, I make a first pick from the finalists that made it to Hollywood. This year, my pick for winner is David Cook. While typing this, I did a google search just to make sure I spelled his name right and look what I just found:
David Cook Continues to be Great Bet to Win American Idol Season 7
http://www.gambling911.com/David-Cook-American-Idol-031208.html
This would be my first correct "first pick" if David Cook wins this year.
My husband thinks Carly Smithson from Ireland will win. I could see her and David Cook as the final 2 but I think Chikezie will be the one to really watch out for.

There isn’t much on the Top 40 charts these days that sounds anything like Amanda Overmyer. Apparently, there’s a good reason for that.
Overmyer became the second of the 12 finalists voted off “American Idol” on Wednesday. The “rock and roll nurse,” as Randy Jackson called her, had one of the most memorable personalities among the contestants, but her song choices didn’t connect with the viewers.

Glad you said that! I thought it was just me. It does sound like sometimes she has no accent at all! Very strange. She has a beautiful voice, but I don't really like her for some reason. This is a talent comp, though, and based on talent alone, she should stay for a while longer.
I was glad to see Amanda go, she was boring me to tears - all her songs sounded the same. I do not understand, though, how Kristy Lee Cook squeaked thru again. IMO, she should have been gone weeks ago. How the heck she is still around is a complete mystery to me.

My top 4 picks are David Archuleta, Michael Johns, Jason Castro and Brooke White. Not only do they have some awesome pipes, they have a genuine humility that really appeals to me.
Yes, Jason Castro and Brooke remind me of folk singers. I like how humble they truly are.
Michael Johns is another who can sing but always plays it safe.
I don't much like the attitude of David Cook. His expressions while singing just make me want to throw up. He acts as if he is the most handsome and most talented in the group. I think he needs a rude awakening....just so he can eat some humble pie....
David Archuleta is so shy, sweet and innocent. I hope he keeps that attitude even after making it big...
Ramiele has no confidence within, yet she does have a voice. If only she would let it show, as the judges say....

My sentiments about all of them exactly. I am not sure how Kristy Lee has managed to squeak by all this time either - except that she is the only "Country" singer this season so I guess all the CM fans are voting for her - there is no one for her to split their vote with. I really hope she's out of there soon though. This is starting to remind me of the Sanjaya awfulness from last season where alot of talented people were voted off before him. Some even more talented, IMO, than Jordin Sparks.
I, too, hope Hollywood doesn't ruin David A. Every week, I expect him to come out more arrogant than the last but so far so good. Only time will tell....I just love his voice.

My favs from last night were Jason Castro (as usual), David Cook, and Michael Johns. For some reason I'm just not loving any of the girls this time. I think that Brooke may go home tonight, or Kristy Lee Cook, even though the judges liked her performance last night, I still think she is running on borrowed time.

My pick for bottom three this week are:
Michael Johns
Ramiele Malubay
Jason Castro

I agree with Ramiele and Jason Castro but I'd like to add Chekezie to that list.
Kristy Lee picked a great song, so I think she's safe this week.
I'd like to add, I sometimes can't follow what Paula Abdul says...I think she was looking good for some weeks but last night, she didn't look as good, she can't seem to get those words to flow....:girl_haha:

Paula Abdoul was interviewed by our local radio station this a.m. Her rep's ask that one of the radio djay's be absent from the interview. He is on that constantly makes fun of her on the air; saying she is a using, has been, unrealistically favorable gushing judge.
Anyhow they got him out of the station and the interview went fine......:girl_haha:

I think Michael Johns was excellent last night. He did a great job. Taking on Freddie Mercury is no small feat, and he pulled it off very well.
As far as Paula last night - wow. She was having major trouble getting her thoughts out, wasn't she? I was sitting there going, "huh?" almost every time she spoke.

Harmony - I read the same thing about David's dad being a 'stage dad' and sometimes abrasive.
On another note, the Enquirer has an article about Amanda Overmyers being a drug addict. But, the article was penned by an x boyfriend, who admitted to being a former addict himself. The title "Fallen 'Idol' star's life of METH, COKE & OVERSOSES"

I was blown away by Brooke last night. I was singing Jolene too. :)
And Kristie brought a tear to my eye with "Coat of Many Colors". Dolly wrote that beautiful "true-life" song. I love country music. It makes me laugh and sing and cry.

The song David A. sang really touched me. It brought back memories of 'family' , 'growing up', and beloved deceased family members (my mother, great grandparents, grandparents, older aunts and uncles). It made me reminisce about gatherings out in the country (my family owns acreage) and love and unity. I would purchase it!

I too loved Michael Johns, I think he, David C, David A , Carly will make it all the way.
Kristy is a good country singer and I think she needs to stick with that genre of music. Brooke is special too, she reminds me of the old folk singers.
I think Ramiele will be the one to leave tonight, she hasn't been consistant with her songs....
Syesha has a great voice only she couldn't top Whitney Houston with that song, wrong choice again....

I think Simon was dead on about Carly's wardrobe...she's gotta do something about that.
I enjoyed most of the performances last night with David A. and Michael being my favorites. Even though I think Kristy did a decent job last night, I still hope she's the one to go tonight. She gets on my nerves...alot. Her attempts at humor just fall a bit flat to me and she comes across more annoying than funny. She did look beautiful last night though - maybe she can give Carly some styling tips before she leaves....
I do think it will be Ramiele that actually leaves tonight - I think she's adorable and has massive pipes but she just seems to lack the confidence she really needs at this stage.

Dolly looks wonderful. She has managed to keep her weight down, she has such a small waist...You go, Dolly. I wondered what her talk about Simon was all about. Did you see the face he made when Dolly addressed him...:girl_haha:
I think the public called it right.
Ramiele was never consistant even though she has a voice. It really doesn't matter, being in the top 10, she's going on tour and I'll bet someone will back her with a record deal.
I think as long as Kristy is singing country, she will do fine.

I think Jason will definitely get a contract after Idol - he's adorable, popular with the girls, not to mention his voice is fantastic!
There has never been one I rooted for from the beginning that has even made it to the top 10. I must have horrible taste in singers! Prime example - nobody else on here likes my boy Jason at all - except you, Saber!

Claudia, I like Jason and I don't think you have bad taste in singers at all. Obviously, voters on Larry King agreed with you. I think the two David's and Michael have a wider vocal range and have dynamic stage presence so I think they will beat out Jason for the top three spots. I think it is possible Jason could be in the top five or six, he has alot of the teen vote. Out of millions that tried out that is not a bad place to be and will open lots of doors for him. What place was Jennifer Hudson when she was on Idol? She went on to be in 'Dream Girls' and to win an award.
