Police searching for missing student

Police are looking for a Hempstead High School student who has been missing since May 2.

Dylan Blanchard, who will turn 17 on Monday, is not believed to have been abducted, School Resource Officer Rebecca Stieber said.

Blanchard's mother, Tracie Lynch, said she last spoke to her son by phone around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, when he was at a friend's house. They didn't have a fight and he hasn't run away before, she said.

Lynch said her son's cell phone has been turned off since Saturday and his ID and the only cash he possessed are at home. None of his clothes are missing and his friends say they don't know where he is, she said.

Blanchard is described as between 5-foot-8 and 5-10 with a slim to medium build and has short dark brown hair with side burns. He was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt with red and white writing, a pair of blue jeans and black Nike tennis shoes.

UPDATE: Missing Iowa Teen - FOUND SAFE
A high school student mysteriously vanished on May 2 in Dubuque, Iowa. He was found safe and sound in Sioux City, Iowa on May 21.

According to one report, Blanchard decided to leave town and was located by a family member. Police aren’t expected to file charges against Blanchard in connection with his disappearance.
