RALEIGH – The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has issued an Amber Alert for a 3-year-old boy who was abducted from a Statesville mall this afternoon.

Statesville police are looking for James Ashley Harris, who was abducted from the Signal Hill Mall allegedly by his mother, while his grandparents were shopping Monday.

Harris is a black male, 3 feet tall and weighs 40 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a gray and black shirt, blue jeans and a green and gold jacket.

His mother, the alleged abductor, is Kira Leneshia Shaw-Wright.

She is a 28-year-old black female. She stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 100 pounds.

She has long black hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing an orange and black skirt and a white jacket.

The child’s mother does not have custody of Harris and he is believed to be in danger. A bulletin states Shaw-Wright may be headed to Atlanta with the child.

Anyone with information about the abduction is urged to call Statesville police at 704-878-3406, 911 or *HP.

The Statesville Police Department is issued an Amber Alert for a 4-year-old who police believe was taken by his mother.

James Ashley Harris is a black male, about 3 feet tall, weighing 40 pounds. He has black hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a gray and black shirt with the words short, cute and loveable, police said. James was wearing Old Navy jeans and a green and gold jacket. His mother Kira Leneshia Shaw-Wright, 28, is a black, female, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 100 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.

Shaw-Wright was last seen wearing an orange and black skirt and a white jacket. She has long hair and her skin color is medium.

Police say Wright was visiting with James at Signal Hill Mall in Statesville. She failed to return him to his grandparents, who have legal custody.

Halliburton said police have no idea of what type of vehicle Shaw-Wright is operating.

He said there is no indication that Shaw-Wright might be violent with the boy, but the fact that she kidnapped him is a concern for authorities.

Halliburton said no sightings have been reported and no calls have come in on the case since the Amber Alert was issued Monday night. (more at link)

At 5'10" and only 100 lbs....she should be easy to spot. You can disguise a lot of things...but not basic body height and shape. The child would be harder to recognize. I would even check out the facial features on someone dressed like a man at that height and weight. This woman has pretty features. I think someone will recognize her.

An Amber Alert sent out last week in North Carolina has been cancelled after the child was found, safe and unharmed. Statesville Police have not released where the child was found, or what happened to the mother suspected of taking the child at this hour. James Ashley Harris, 3-years-old, was abducted at Signal Hill Mall in Statesville while shopping with grandparents. Police suspected the mother, Kira Leneshia Shaw-Wright, took the child to Atlanta.
