PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. -- A BOLO has been issued for a man who may have abducted his 8-year-old step-daughter.Paulding County police are searching for Jerry Fagen, wanted for child molestation and sexual battery.Allegations of sexual misconduct were reported to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children (CAC) unit on April 17, 2009 by the Department of Family and Children Services. The allegations made have been described as “inappropriate sexual contact.”Fagen is believed to have fled the state with Petty and her biological mother Casey Lynn Fagan and his 1-year-old son.
Petty was last seen on April 28, 2009 at Baggett Elementary School. PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. -- The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday they fear a missing 8-year-old girl is in the custody of a fugitive wanted on felony charges and they believe she is in danger.Isabella Eve Petty was last seen at Baggett Elementary School on April 28.Investigators think she may be with her stepfather, Jerry Lee Fagan, 30.Police said Fagan is wanted on two felony charges.Officials believe Fagan is also traveling with his wife and his 1-year-old son.Police said it is possible Fagan fled the state and may be headed to California, Gaston County, NC, or Phoenix, AZ.

Nationwide Search For Paulding Abused Girl

PAULDING COUNTY, GA -- Paulding County Sheriff Investigators fear an 8-year old sexually abused girl may be abused again. The man charged with molesting her has disappeared with the girl.

Police have put out a nation-wide alert for 30-year old Jerry Lee Fagen of Powder Springs. The girl he's accused of abusing is his step-daughter. Investigators want to find her as soon as possible because they fear she will be abused again.

Investigators have identified the girl as 8-year old Isabella Eve Petty and have distributed her picture publicly because they want someone to see her before its too late.

Paulding County Sheriff Corporal Brandon Gurley says Fagen left town with his wife, his step-daughter and the couple's one-year old son after he learned he was under investigation. "We're concerned for this child's (step-daughter) well being," he said. "We're concerned that she may be subjected to further molestation."

Fagen was charged on May 19th with Child Molestation and Sexual Battery. Law enforcement agencies don't typically identify sexual assault victims, especially children. Cpl. Gurley says they want people to know what the girl looks like so they can find her. "It is important to us at this time to locate this child and ensure her safety," he said.

The girl apparently told someone at school about the alleged abuse. On April 17th, the school contacted the County's Department of Family and Children's Services. DFACS then called the sheriff office that began an investigation. By the time they completed their investigation and came up with the charges, the Fagens were gone.

Cpl. Gurley said the girl's grandmother pulled her out of Baggett Elementary School in Powder Springs on April 30th. "It was mentioned by the grandmother that when she withdrew the child from the school, she made mention of them moving to California," Cpl. Gurley said.

He says the Fagen's lived at the grandmother's house on Breckinridge Lane in Powder Springs. Investigators believe they are driving the grandmother's car, a red, 2000 Ford Taurus. It has a Georgia tag: ASI-7861.

Cpl. Gurley says the grandmother has not been cooperative with investigators. There was no answer at the grandmother's house Thursday afternoon.

Deon Harrell, who lives across the street, says the 8-year old alleged victim is a friend of his sister's. "Her and my sister used to hang out all the time, play on the trampoline," he said. "She's a nice kid from what I seen, she seemed happy."

Paulding County is hoping someone sees her and calls for help. They think the grandmother may have been trying to mislead them when she told the school the Fagen's were moving to California.

Paulding County Sheriff investigators have a nationwide alert out for the girl. They are looking closely at Gaston, North Carolina, and Phoenix, Arizona where the couple apparently have relatives.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jerry Lee Fagen is asked to call the Paulding County Sheriff Office or any local law enforcement agency.

She should have immediately been removed from that home....never allowed to return from the moment she told what happened. If the mother had not protected her in the first place, what made LE and child protective personnel think she would protect her afterwards? Someone dropped the ball here, and a child is paying the price. I can only imagine what is being said and done to her because she "caused" the problem. I pray this child will be found safe and taken some place where she will get the love and care every child deserves.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Friday it has confirmed reports received overnight that Fagen had been seen in the Phoenix area as of May 10.
Cpl. Brandon Gurley said the sheriff’s office is working on several leads it received overnight.
Gurley said a nationwide missing child alert has not been issued because the girl is in the company of her mother and that her life is not believed to be in danger.
The girl first reported abuse to teachers at Baggett Elementary School, who contacted the Department of Family and Children Services.
DFCS contacted the sheriff’s office on April 17. Warrants for Fagen’s arrest were issued on May 19 after the investigation was completed, he said.
Isabella was last seen on April 28 at Baggett Elementary and was withdrawn from school by her maternal grandmother on April 30, according to authorities. The family probably left around that time, he said.
Police believe they also know people in California and Gaston, N.C. They could be traveling in a red 2000 Ford Taurus SES with Georgia tag ASI 7861.

Missing Paulding Girl Found In Arizona

ATLANTA -- Authorities in Phoenix have confirmed that they have located 8-year-old Isabella Petty and her 1-year-old brother.

Both children were believed to be traveling with Paulding County fugitive Jerry Fagen.

The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office said Fagen was wanted on felony charges.

Isabella, who is Fagen's stepdaughter, was last seen at Baggett Elementary School on April 28.

Both children were taken into protective custody by Child Protective Services in Phoenix. Fagen was not located with the children. A nationwide search is still active for Fagen.

The Georgia Department of Family and Children's Services is working with Child Protective Services in Arizona to have the children returned to Georgia.

The children were located with their biological mother Casey Lynn Fagen. At this point, no charges have been filed against her by the Paulding County Sheriff's Office, but the investigation is ongoing.

Missing Georgia girl found near Phoenix

An 8-year-old Georgia girl who was believed to have been sexually molested and kidnapped by her mother's husband has been found in Arizona.
Maricopa County sheriff's spokesman Doug Matteson said Saturday that the girl was found in Youngtown about 15 miles northwest of Phoenix on Friday night with her head shaved, possibly to hide her identity.
He said after receiving a tip late Friday, deputies surrounded a Youngtown home, broke down the door, and found the girl inside with her 1-year-old brother and mother, 26-year-old Casey Petty.
The man suspected of molesting and kidnapping her, Jerry Lee Fagen, 30, was not found.
He is Petty's husband, and Matteson said he may be on his way back to Georgia. The sheriff's office has notified other agencies between the two states to be on the lookout for Fagen.
Matteson said one of Petty's relatives owns the Youngtown home, and that Petty told deputies she'd been living there for a couple of weeks.
Fagen is wanted by the Paulding County Sheriff's Office on suspicion of child molestation and sexual battery, according to Cpl. Brandon Gurley, a spokesman for the Georgia agency.
Paulding County investigators received a tip earlier this month that Fagen was in Phoenix, and was on the run with his wife and the two children.
The children are now in the care of Arizona Child Protective Services, which will coordinate with Georgia authorities about what will happen to them.
Georgia authorities received reports in April from the Department of Family and Children Services stating that Fagen engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with the girl, who was last seen at school on April 28.

I wanted to add this somewhere and this seems like as good a place as any.
I live here in Paulding County where this horrible incident occurred.
I pass by the DFACS/Juvenile Detention Center quite frequently.
As I took my kids to the county park today, I noticed they had changed their permanent sign to CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN in bold letters and the JDC sign was gone. Hmmm....I thought to myself "that is normally why DFACS gets involved right? Good, let's call it what it is and not sugar-coat it anymore.' JMO

I'm so glad the kids are safe. They may be in the system which I totally leaves alot to be desired but at least they won't be harmed by the alledged molester. I'm still wondering whats up with Mom...did she know? care? Praying for the children and hope they are not too traumatized.
