Search for missing man under way

Loved ones are hoping a 72-year-old man suffering from dementia will return home soon.

Bobby R. Yant of Rawlings Road was last seen leaving his Joelton home Thursday evening, driving a white 1993 Honda Accord with Tennessee tag number 292-PXW. Yant is 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighs 220 pounds and was last wearing a white shirt, blue pants, a ball cap and house shoes.

Anyone who sees Yant or his vehicle is asked to call the police non-emergency number, 615-862-8600.

Joelton man missing

Police are continuing their search for a 72-year-old dementia sufferer who has not been seen by his family since he drove away from his Rawlings Road home in Joelton at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.


Bobby R. Yant left in a white 1993 Honda Accord bearing Tennessee license number 292-PXW while his wife was working in the garden. Officers took the missing person report at 9:40 p.m. and, during the night, checked all locations to which he was likely to travel.

Surrounding jurisdictions were also notified.

Information about Yant has now been entered into a national law enforcement database in the event he is seen or stopped by officers anywhere in Tennessee or the nation.

Yant is 5’10” tall, weighs 220 pounds, and was last wearing a white shirt, blue pants, a ball cap and house shoes.

Anyone seeing Yant or the white Honda since late last night is asked to immediately contact the Emergency Communications Center at 615-862-8600.

Missing Joelton man with dementia found

A Joelton man suffering from dementia and reported missing Thursday night was found Saturday in the woods behind his home, Metro police said.

Bobby R. Yant, 72, left his Rawlings Road home behind the wheel of a 1993 Honda Accord. He apparently drove off the road and into a creek bed, where police said the car was found Saturday.

Detective Sgt. Pat Postiglione checked the car and saw the keys had been taken.

After a search of the nearby area, Yant was found on a steep, wooded hill.

Police, firefighters and family members helped him to safety.
