CASTLE ROCK, Wash. -- Longview police are searching for a man who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the death of his infant daughter.Benjamin Pingle, 26, was convicted last year on manslaughter charges in the death of Justice Pringle, one of his twin 3-month-old daughters. He was also convicted of third-degree assault for injuries to Justice's sister.Pingle appealed the court's decision and was freed on a $250,000 appeal bond in June 2008. Family members and Pingle's bail bondsman said they haven't heard from him in more than two weeks.Holly Bishop, who owns Bishop Bail Bonds in Longview and is carrying Pingle's appeal bond, said the co-signer on the bond is Cordell Stone, Pingle's grandfather. http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/ibs.ptl1.news/local;kw=fox12smostwanted+square;ad=true;pgtype=de tail;tile=9;sz=300x250;ord=123456789? "The co-signers are the ones that have the assets and the ability to keep track of it," Bishop said.Stone reported his grandson missing last week and a judge later issued a no-bail warrant for Pingle's arrest."They are shocked and amazed because he's just not that type of individual -- all of a sudden he drops out of sight," Bishop said.Stone did not want to speak on camera, but he believes Pingle is innocent in his daughter's death. However, he wants Pingle to comply with the law while waiting for his appeal.Bishop hopes someone can help track down Pingle's location."If they know where he is, give Longview police a call so they can begin research on it," Bishop said.Stone said Pingle's disappearance could be related to his wife filing for divorce.

Castle Rock man out of jail on bond disappears

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
KELSO, Wash. -- Police and bounty hunters are looking for a Castle Rock man who disappeared while free on bond after a manslaughter conviction.
A Cowlitz County Superior Court judge issued an arrest warrant Tuesday for 26-year-old Benjamin Shane Pingle. His family hasn't seen him since May 8.
The Daily News of Longview reports he was convicted of killing his infant daughter last May and sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison. He was allowed to remain free on a $250,000 bond while he appealed.

THIS IS FROM JULY

'America's Most Wanted' to profile case of missing Castle Rock man convicted in daughter's death
Friday, June 26, 2009 5:31 PM PDT
spokesman for the television show “America’s Most Wanted” said Thursday that crews are working on a profile of Benjamin Shane Pingle, the Castle Rock man who disappeared last month after he was convicted of killing his infant daughter and released on an appeal bond.

The program is expected to air July 11 on the Fox network, the spokesman said.

Pingle’s grandmother, Marlene Stone, said the show’s producers recently contacted her family and interviewed her husband, Cordell Stone, who reported Pingle missing May 19. She said she hopes the program will help find her grandson and bring him home safely.

Marlene Stone also said her family hasn’t heard from Pingle since he disappeared in late May and that she has no idea where he is.

“If we knew exactly where he was at, we would be there ourselves getting him,” she said, adding that she and her family believe Pingle is innocent.

“In no way, shape or form do we believe he is guilty of harm to that baby,” Stone said. “We would not be this supportive if we didn’t believe in him.”

A jury found Pingle guilty last year of first-degree manslaughter in the death of his 12-week-old daughter Justice Pingle. He also was found guilty of third-degree assault of a child for injuring Justice’s twin sister, Liberty.

Superior Court Judge James Warme sentenced Pingle in June of last year to nearly 10 years in prison, but allowed him to remain free on $250,000 bail pending an appeal of his case.

Warme has declined to comment on his decision to release Pingle. The prosecutor’s office also has declined to comment since Pingle disappeared. Prosecutor Sue Baur said last year that she disagreed with the decision to allow Pingle to remain free. The move, she said, “diminishes the public’s confidence in the swiftness of a jury’s decision.”

On The Run

According to Cord, on May 9, 2009, Pingle’s dad dropped his son off at the Burger King on 30th Street in nearby Longview. He said Pingle told them he was heading to band practice and had a backpack and friend’s acoustic guitar, a Taylor CE210, with him.

Cops and family members told AMW that was the last time anyone claimed to have seen him.

Cord and Marlene Stone said they are currently in a “grace period” and that if they don’t come up with the remainder of the money or if Benjamin Pingle isn’t apprehended, the State of Washington will foreclose on their property.

Cord says they stand to lose much of what they worked for most of their lives.

“All that work, 52 years of labor gone in the time it takes to sign a contract,” he said.

But Cord says he isn’t without compassion. He wants his grandson, Pingle, home safely and more importantly, he says he still wants closure over the death of his great-granddaughter.

“Ultimately, I want justice for Justice and right now there is none,” he told us.

However, that all changed on July 30, 2009 when authorities tracked Pingle to his girlfriend's house in Texas. After months on the lam, Benjamin Pingle was arrested and brought into custody.

End Of The Line For Pingle
On the morning of July 30, 2009, Benjamin Pingle was arrested at the home of a girlfriend in Euless, Texas. The U.S. Marshals say they had already tracked him to a Greyhound bus bound for the Dallas-Fort Worth area but couldn’t be sure of his destination.

Meanwhile, cops in Longview, WA said they had been monitoring phone and email activity that led them to believe Pingle was hiding out in the woman’s residence. The U.S. Marshals showed up and found Pingle. He was arrested without incident.

Pingle’s grandfather, Cordell Stone put his house and several rental properties up for Pingle’s bail before Pingle fled. When Pingle went on the run, Cordell stood to lose the property. “I feel a sense of peace I haven’t had for two months. I know he’s alive and I know he’s well,” Cordell told AMW.

With Pingle in custody, Cordell will now be able to keep his house. “All of our problems are gone. It’s hard to even estimate the peace of knowing we still have a home where we can spend the rest of or days. I now have a thousand-pound weight load lifted off my shoulder,” he said.
