As Memorial Day is commemorated around the country, a distraught Colusa County family is observing National Missing Children's Day.
It's been 82 days since 17-year old Celeste Christianssen disappeared and in light of national missing children's day her loved-ones are taking a stand Monday night and hoping for answers.
Celeste Christianssen has constantly been on the minds of her friends and family members since she went missing in March.
Her mother Angelica Franco says, ”I have no way of getting a hold of her and I know something is wrong."
Friends and family have traveled from across the state on National Missing Children's Day in hopes of getting one step closer to finding Celeste.
17-year old Celeste had just moved to Southern California near Claremont with her grandparents.
She was looking for a fresh start to get away from a controlling boyfriend in Colusa, when she disappeared.
Her Grandmother Angelita Franco says, "I know she was not happy and a lot had to do with this boy."
Her family believes she returned to her hometown of Colusa, under the force of her 16-year old boyfriend.
Angelica adds, "He would leave her these threatening messages, basically if he couldn't have her nobody could."
Celeste’s best friend Katie Morsco says, "I don't know what to think, I don't know if she ran away willingly or if she was taken."
Police haven't made much progress, labeling it a possible runaway case.
Angelica says, “Even if they thought she was just a runaway, that's still my daughter and a mom knows when something is wrong.”
The boyfriend has since been arrested on other charges and is currently in Glenn County Juvenile Hall.
The last number on Celeste's cell phone call-log before she disappeared belongs to her boyfriend's mother.
Angelica says, “His family has a lot to do with where they’re hiding her, we know that for a fact.”
Celeste's mother is hanging onto one last piece of hope: a voicemail left the day before Mother's Day.
“The first voice you can hear is my daughter, you can barely hear he through the crying saying, ‘Please help me.”
And while Angelica feels helpless at times, with the support of family and community, she's keeping the faith that Celeste will return home.
If you have any information about Celeste, her family urges you to call the Claremont Police Department at 909-399-5411.
