Police: Casselberry runaway needs medication


Julie Rivkees, 15, ran away from her Casselberry home.

A 15-year-old girl who ran away from her Casselberry home 10 days ago is in danger because she does not have prescription medications she needs, Casselberry Police said today.

They are looking for Julie Rivkees and ask that anyone who sees her contact any local law enforcement agency.

She is 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 115 pounds, with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She has a birthmark near the center of her neck.

Julie is listed as a missing juvenile with the local police, following her disappearance from a friend's home in the Castleberry / Winter Park Florida area on Monday morning, May 18th.

Julie is 5'5" tall and weighs 115 lbs. She has a small birthmark on the center of her neck, under her chin. She has long dark brown hair that may be either curly or straight. Julie was last seen at Orlando International Airport on Wednesday, May 20th at approximately 1:00 p.m., wearing jeans, baseball cap, hooded sweatshirt with black purse. The Rivkees family relocated to Florida from New Jersey, and Julie may have returned there.

The Rivkees family requests that anyone who has seen Julie within the past few days, or has any information regarding her current location, immediately call 911 or local police. Friends and family of Julie Rivkees, a 15-year-old Florida runaway, have extended their search to Millburn, where she formerly lived.

An article in a local Florida newspaper said she disappeared “from a friend’s home in Casselberry/Winter Park” on Monday, May 18. It also notes:

She has long dark brown hair that may be either curly or straight. Julie was last seen at Orlando International Airport on Wednesday, May 20th at approximately 1:00 p.m., wearing jeans, baseball cap, hooded sweatshirt with black purse.

The girl is described as 5-foot-5, 115 pounds, with a birthmark under her chin, in the center of her neck. The flier friends and family have been distributing describes her situation as a “medical emergency.”

On the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, she is listed as an endangered runaway.

A thread on Maplewood Online said she may be in Millburn, or trying to get there.

Public records show the family — parents Peter and Ellyn, and a brother, Glenn — moved to Winter Park, Fla., from Spenser Drive in Short Hills around 2000.

“She is a wonderful, athletic, smart, and beautiful person, and we want to see her home,” Dan Rivkees, a New Jersey cousin, said in a message via the search’s Facebook page last night.

Families whose children, like Julie, attend Camp Walden in Diamond Point, N.Y., were notified that she was missing, as well.

On a Web site about the search for her, a video of a prayer vigil shows friends and family members pleading for her safe return. One woman tells Julie “the pugs miss you,” and her brother, Glenn, also addresses the crowd.

“The inherent goodness people have shown us has surprised all of us,” he said. “Please Julie, we just want to hear something, anything.”

Here is a link to a facebook discussion board from a Facebook for Julie. One comment from six hours ago, someone says they have been with the family almost the entire time. It's 3:30 now. I know that may not mean a thing.
I also saw that her poster is no longer on the missing kids site. And she may have been found within that six hours.
There is nothing different on the FindJulie site. I so hope she has been found and is safe. It worried me that she was seen at the airport.

She is listed again. According to the facebook page someone had reported this as a hoax and maybe that is why she was removed. You'd think they would've checked to be sure though.
