OREM — A woman who apparently took off for an impromptu camping trip more than a week ago hasn't been seen or heard from by family since.
"There was some emotional distress going on," the woman's boyfriend, Drew Alexander, said about the last day they talked. "It's just a long time to be out of touch with everyone."
The missing Orem woman, Sara Jensen, 31, told Alexander she was "going camping to clear her head" more than a week ago on May 25.
Although the woman has done nothing illegal, Orem police have joined the search and have tracked part of Jensen's movement through credit card purchases.
A purchase with her card was made in Beaver and she apparently stayed at Best Western Zion Park Inn, near Zion National Park the night of May 25. The next day, she bought a Zion National Park pass, purchased camping equipment and withdrew cash.
The pass, the camping gear and even the cash withdrawal of more than $600 all make some sense to Alexander, who said Zion National Park was "one of her favorite places to go." But what doesn't add up is how long she's been gone, he said.
He spent two days in and around the park looking for Jensen or at least for her 2002 Toyota Corolla, Utah license plate Z725DE. He found nothing.
Jensen is the mother of a 5-year-old boy whom she was suppose to pick up from the boy's father the day before she left camping. But because she was discouraged from picking him up, because of the child having the flu, she became upset.
"So that was obviously a big stressor and that's what kind of started this whole thing, the situation with her son," Alexander said.
When Jensen didn't return home for scheduled work, concerned family filed a missing person's report.
"Someone can get by with that much money but it's just like we need to know."
Alexander said. "Take as much time as you need, but you just have to let someone know where you're at."
Jensen is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 115 pounds. She has blue eyes and blond, shoulder-length hair. Orem police are asking anyone with information to call 801-229-7070.

Police ask for help finding missing Orem woman

Orem police and rangers in Zion National Park are looking for a 31-year-old woman missing for more than a week.
Family of Sarah Jensen say she left Orem in her vehicle on May 25 to go camping in southern Utah. She hasn't been heard from since, said Orem police Sgt. Craig Gaines.
"Right now there's no reason to believe there is anything suspicious about her disappearance. But it is odd for her to not have contacted anybody," Gaines said.
Jensen's mother was able to access her bank records and discovered Jensen used her credit card in Beaver and stayed a night at the Best Western Zion Park Inn in Springville on May 25, Gaines said.
Jensen bought a pass for Zion National Park, purchased camping gear and withdrew cash on May 26, he said. Gaines said Jensen's family reported it is not out of her character to disappear for a day or two, but it is unusual for her to take off for a week and not call someone, he said.
Jensen told her boyfriend on May 25 that she planned to go camping, but didn't specify how long she planned to be gone, Gaines said. He said Jensen has no history of mental illness, depression or other heath problems that would put her at risk on a trip alone.
Authorities are asking the public to report any sightings of Jensen. She is described as 5 feet, 10 inches tall, 115 pounds with blue eyes and shoulder-length blonde hair. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt, Gaines said.
She often wears a necklace with in the shape of a letter "S." She has three tattoos including a sun on the middle of her upper back, a "character" near her belly button and Japanese writing on her lower back, Gaines said.
Jensen's vehicle is a silver 2002 Toyota Corolla with Utah license plates "Z725DE". The car has two bumper stickers which read "DeVotchKa" and "Abide" -- references to a band and the movie "Big Lebowski."
Anyone with information on Jensen is asked to contact the Orem Police Department at 801-229-7070.

OREM -- Orem police are asking the public for any information that may lead to the whereabouts of a woman who hasn't been heard from in a week.
According to a press release, 31-year-old Sarah Jensen was last seen on May 25. Sgt. Craig Gaines said Jensen spoke to her mother and her boyfriend that day and told her boyfriend she was going camping. Jensen's boyfriend did not think it would be a good idea for her to camp alone, Gaines said, but it appears she left on the trip anyway.
Gaines said Jensen has a Cricket cell phone, which does not have much service outside Utah County, and she also left her phone charger behind. Her family has tried to call her, but she has not picked up and her voicemail box is full, so Jensen has not checked her messages, Gaines said. Her mother has access to her bank records, to police know Jensen made a purchase in Beaver and stayed at the Best Western - Zion location on the night of May 25, according to the release.
She also bought a Zion National Park pass on May 26 and bought camping equipment from Wal-Mart, Gaines said. She has not made a purchase since or contacted any family members. Gaines said the park pass appears to be a year-round pass and does not indicate where Jensen chose to camp or for how long.
The main concern is that she may have had an accident while camping. Jensen was not upset when she left home, indicating any problems, Gaines said, and she appears to have left on her own accord.
"There's no reason to believe she's in danger or anything," he said.
Gaines said Jensen enjoys the outdoors and national park areas. Her ex-husband told police the couple camped in Zion frequently in the past, and she knows the area. It is common for her to go camping, but this instance is out of the ordinary, Gaines said.
"She will go maybe for a day and then come back, but for her to leave for a week and not come back is odd," he said.
Orem police have contacted law enforcement around Zion, who said there have been no sightings of Jensen that they know of. Posters have been sent down to post around the park to help find the woman, Gaines said.
According to the release, Jensen is driving a silver 2002 Toyota Corolla, license plate UT Z725DE. It has two distinct bumper stickers, "Devotchka" and "Abide." She is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall, 115 pounds with blue eyes and shoulder length blonde hair. She was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white shirt. She wears a necklace with the letter "S" and has three tattoos. She has a sun tattoo on the middle of her upper back, a tattoo of a character near her belly button and a tattoo of Japanese writing on her lower back.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Orem Police Department or Sgt. Craig Gaines at (801) 229-7070.

DesNews, thank you for running this story. Sarah is my son's mother and I can assure those out there reading this that he is being well taken care of. He really misses his mom and we are all really worried. Drew thank you for taking the time to do this interview you really offered up some good information. Now I suppose all we can do is hope and pray she's okay.

Missing Orem woman alive and well
By Melinda Rogers
The Salt Lake Tribune
Updated: 06/16/2009 04:13:42 PM MDT
A 31-year-old Orem woman reported missing earlier this month has been found alive and well, her family and police say.
Family of Sarah Jensen reported her missing and asked for the public's help finding her after she left Orem in her vehicle on May 25 to go camping in southern Utah. The woman's family and boyfriend didn't hear from her for more than a week after she left, prompting concerns that she'd run into trouble.
Orem police Sgt. Craig Gaines said Tuesday that Jensen has been found alive and in good health.
Police officers in New Mexico contacted Orem police after pulling over Jensen for a traffic violation, Gaines said.
He said the woman apparently "didn't want to be contacted" for awhile and did not tell her boyfriend or family how long she planned to be gone on a vacation. Jensen told New Mexico police she was traveling through the state "on her own accord," Gaines said.
Jensen's family had feared the worst had happened to her when she disappeared last month. The family had planned a candlelight vigil for their daughter in Orem this week, only to then discover she had been found.
Jensens' mother was able to access her bank records and discovered Jensen used her credit card in Beaver and stayed a night at the Best Western Zion Park Inn in Springdale on May 25. She also learned that Jensen bought a pass for Zion National Park, purchased camping gear and withdrew cash on May 26.
The family had reported
it was not out of character for Jensen to disappear for a day or two, but it was unusual for her to take off for a week and not call someone, he said.
