Police in Helena are asking for the public’s help in locating an ill woman who left her apartment on Park Avenue a week ago and hasn’t been seen since.
Det. Sgt. Richard Drysdale said Nancy Swan, 52, told her husband George Swan about 11 p.m. May 28 that she had a friend who wasn’t doing well at St. Peter’s Hospital and was going there to visit. She never arrived at the hospital.
“She has a medical condition, is taking lots of medications and didn’t take them with her,” Drysdale said on Wednesday. “She had a CT scan scheduled for yesterday, but didn’t make the appointment. Mr. Swan said his wife has congestive heart failure, suffered from seizures and is diabetic, and she may have a mental illness.”
Nancy Swan is described as 5-feet, 2-inches tall and weighs about 300 pounds. She is a Native American, with medium length black hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing jeans and a white T-shirt. She was driving a 1993 white four-door Ford Tempo, with a license plate of 5C-76298.
Drysdale said the couple hadn’t been arguing before Nancy Swan left the home, and that she has a history of disappearing for a few days.
“She’s left in the past, but always returned within three days,” Drysdale said. “A few months ago, she left the house for three days, but called by phone from time to time to let her husband know she was OK.”
He’s issued a statewide alert for her. Anyone who may have seen Nancy Swan or her car is encouraged to call Drysdale at 447-8471 or 431-7377 or the Helena Police at 442-3233.
