Search underway for missing man near Pecks Pond in Pike County

A search is underway for a man missing near Pecks Pond off Route 402 in Pike County.

Jason Ambler Walton, 33, of Bethlehem was last seen walking around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, by a ranger of the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources. Walton’s family reported him missing Wednesday evening. He was wearing blue jeans, and a dark sweat shirt. Walton is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has a thin build and brown reddish hair. Walton has a history of mental illness.

The DCNR is heading the search according to state police. A State Police aviation unit helicopter is assisting in the search. The search is centered on the Maple Run recreation area near Pecks Pond.

Bethlehem man missing in Poconos

A search is under way in Pike County for a 33-year-old Bethlehem man who was last seen walking in the Delaware State Forest around noon yesterday.

A state police helicopter is in the air today searching for Jason A. Walton, according to state police at Blooming Grove.

A state police news release said Walton, of Bayard Street, was last seen around 12:20 p.m. walking in the area of Pecks Pond in Porter Township. Pecks Pond is a 420-acre lake along Route 402 on the Bushkill Creek and owned by the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

Emergency radio dispatches said the state police helicopter landed before noon to pick up a DCNR spotter to help with the search.

State police said Walton has a history of mental illness. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored sweatshirt and carrying a dark-colored coat yesterday. He is 5-feet, 11-inches tall, 150 pounds and has reddish-brown hair and a thin build.

According to Northampton County voter registration records, Walton previously lived on Lehigh Lane in East Allen Township.

As of 8 p.m. Thursday, the search continued for a Bethlehem man who went missing Wednesday near Pecks Pond off Route 402 in Pike County. Searchers planned to work through the night to find Jason Ambler Walton, 33.

Walton was last seen walking around 12:20 p.m. Wednesday by a ranger of the Department of Conservation & Natural Resources. Walton's family reported him missing Wednesday evening.

Missing man found in woods near Pecks Pond

A massive search and rescue operation in Delaware State Forest ended Friday when Jason Ambler Walton, 33, was found walking out of the woods in the Maple Run recreational area near Pecks Pond and Route 402.

Walton was found in a spot the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources refers to as “drop point four.” He was somewhat coherent, but had a self-inflicted wound to his arm according to state police at Blooming Grove.

Walton of Bethlehem was transported by Hemlock Farms Ambulance to Pocono Medical Center for treatment of his injury and a mental health evaluation. He has a history of mental illness.

Walton went missing Wednesday. He had been seen around 12:20 p.m. that day by a DCNR ranger, and was walking in the Maple Run recreational area, located in Pike County.

Walton’s family contacted authorities Wednesday evening to report him missing.

The search was a joint effort of state police, the DCNR, Hemlock Farms EMS, and Blooming Grove Township EMS. State police helicopters and search dogs were used during the operation.

The Maple Run recreational area ATV trail was closed to visitors during the search.
