Hi Grins. I have a bit of a story to tell you from last night. Sandy disappeared for a little while and we couldn't find her upstairs. All of a sudden, we hear woofing coming from the basement. She had gone down there to try and get the cats food but couldn't as we had put a gate up for that reason. She was sitting in front of it barking away as if to say, I really want to get in there. It was quite funny that she really expected us to let her in there to eat whatever she felt like!

Good morning, Louise == cute story about Sandy. I can just see her.
nanabillie == love the kitty picture. . . .but "... Just some you-know-what with butter will be fine"????? http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g258/PatC_pics/smilies/why_you-you.gif
Alibar == loved the picture. No telling how Grins came to have a photo. He can do strange and wonderful things. I thought of a bird's eye view of the highway over by Sasakwa and the S. Canadian River.
Speaking of Grins.... yes, I have read everything I could find about Reeves death. Suicide??? seems unlikely to me.
Sounds like she might be getting a little spoiled, doesn't it.
Speaking of spoiled ... Harry and both doxies stayed in bed when I got up today. We were out in the yard a lot yesterday and they trot along beside me when I ride my mule so their little short legs were "worn plumb out" last night. Well, I had just settled down here at the computer when the doxies came trotting up to go outside.
I got back from letting them out and I hear "woof" from the bedroom... repeatedly ... Harry kept it up till I went back there and set him down off the bed. Then he had the audacity to scamper up the hall like a puppy to go to the door for his peepee poopoo run. :0doh:

Louise
06-11-2009, 11:39 AM
Sounds like she's feeling better, Louise! :yes2:
I think she was at the time but last night she kept waking us both up with her coughing as well as having several really bad coughing fits during the day. We have figured that it gets worse when it is really humid as it was yesterday and overnight. It still is a bit but not as bad as last night was. She has had a couple of coughing fits this morning already but they don't seem to be as bad as yesterday or last night. Her breathing has been a bit labored again when she is not coughing but I think that is due to the humidity too. I have read that high humidity can aggravate the problem.
Sounds like she might be getting a little spoiled, doesn't it.
I think so!! She doesn't like to be told no at times! :girl_haha:
Good morning, Louise == cute story about Sandy. I can just see her.

Billie... after my computer problems with heat a while back, I bought an auxiliary fan thingy for my laptop. I got it at Walmart and it wasn't expensive. It's just a flat thing your laptop sits on and it has two fans to help cool your computer. "Targus" is the only label that's on it. You might look for one.

Welcome, unicorn, to our happy cyber-home. You'll find yourself getting hungry while reading here is a common occurrence... but we're worth it. :s1gyahoo:
Good to have a new cyber friend. Come back soon and tell us something about yourself. What brought you to HFTM? I think pretty much all of us are true crime fans of one kind or another. Sometimes the true crime scenarios can get bone chilling and start to infringe on your personal life, but before that happens come here to the Koffee Klatch for some coffee, tea, cocoa, soda and snacks. Someone usually fixes us a cyber-breakie and drinks are always available. We just ask that if you take the last cup of coffee please make a fresh pot. :girl_haha:
This is a great message board and has so much material it'll make your head spin so when you get "brain overload" come on over here for friendship and foolishness to lighten the mood.
Oh, I'm supposed to mention (he told me to do it) that our favorite Hat Check Boy, Grins, who does the brusha, brusha, scrubba, scrubba as well as leaving us pretties to start our day and a belly laugh or two plus poetry that'll alternately make you chuckle or cry DOES have a Tip Jar.

Vivian Leigh is one of the most beautiful women of all time I think. A splendid actress as well. She fascinates me still.
Did she have children with Olivier?
I had to look that up cuz it's been years since I read a bio of her. No, she had a couple miscarriages with Olivier. she had a daughter with her first husband, named Suzanne, but that's all I could find.
And, it's Vivien. We both goofed on that one. Sad that she was bi polar before they knew how to treat it and she died from tuberculosis.
Yeah, she was gorgeous! Her, Ava Gardner and Grace Kelly! My lord, they were beautiful!
Well Pat, I figured you knew who it was! "I can't think about that today, I'll think about that tomorrow" , or something very similar to that wording. Dead giveaway IMO My favorite has to be:
"If it ain't fittin', it just ain't fittin'! hmph!" :0t31: Not Scarlet of course, but my favorite character of all!
Okay, so to continue the game...
Who is Archibald Leach? No fair Googling that either! :eyebrow1qb:
Great painting, Ali. I used to paint portraits in watercolor but since my eyes have gone to heck, I just don't do it anymore. I once did a painting on the computer of my daughter and it looked JUST LIKE the ones I did for reals. weird.

They performed in vaudeville. We had a few theaters in town here and that's where they met. I want to say at The Palace theater, but it's been a long time. Judy and her sisters performed as the Gumm sisters.
I'm gonna go look it up and refresh my memory.

wikipedia has this to say:
"Childhood and early life
Born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Garland was the youngest child of hopeful but second-string vaudevillians Frank Gumm and Ethel Marion Milne. Her ancestry on both sides of the family can be traced back to the early colonial days of the United States. Her father was descended from the Marable family of Virginia and her mother from Patrick Fitzpatrick, who arrived in America from Smithtown, County Meath, Ireland, in the 1770s.[3]
Named after both her parents and baptized at a local Episcopal church, "Baby" (as Frances was affectionately called) shared the family's flair for song and dance. "Baby" Gumm's first appearance came at the age of two-and-a-half, when she joined her two older sisters, Mary Jane ("Suzy") (1915–1965) and Dorothy Virginia ("Ginnie") (1917–1977) on stage for a chorus of "Jingle Bells" in a Christmas show at her father's movie theater.[4]
The Gumm girls performed at their father's theater, accompanied by their mother on piano, for the next few years. In June 1926, following rumors that Frank had made sexual advances toward male ushers at his theater, the family relocated to Lancaster, California.[5] Frank purchased and operated another theater there and Ethel, acting as their manager, began working to get her daughters into pictures."

I am pretty sure her mom was a piano player here too when she met her husband. I've got a really good bio of Judy around here somewhere that explains her parents in more detail than you can find online.

Bulldog Blues
Dick Wagner, Alan Gordon, Jim Kaufman
Woke up this morning
Bulldog hid my shoes
Went for the paper there was drool all over the news
If he could open up a bottle
The bulldog’d prob’ly drink all my blues
Ten days a month you’re down in New Orleans
You say you’re a consultant, I still don’t know what that means
Well I’m singing to the bulldog, he’s singing back at me
We need the money, honey, but I need my honey too
Yeah we need the money honey, but I need my honey, too
The sun is going down and I got the bulldog blues
So broke, no green
Riding around in my old blue jeans
Since you went away
It’s just an ordinary day
I wake up, I lie down
Me and the dog take a ride into town
No one’s around it’s just an ordinary day
They tell me 88 keys can open up a lot of doors
Well I been working on this song since 1994
And now everybody tells me they don’t play this kind of music anymore
Two guys in bowties came to solicit me
They conned their way in, telling me what life really means
Before the bulldog ran ‘em off I subscribed to seven new magazines
We need the money, honey, but I need my honey too
Yeah we need the money honey, but I need my honey, too
The sun is going down and I got the bulldog blues
So broke, no green
Riding around in my old blue jeans
Since you went away
It’s just an ordinary day
I wake up, I lie down
Me and the dog take a ride into town
No one’s around it’s just an ordinary day
We need the money, honey, but I need my honey too
Yeah we need the money honey, but I need my honey, too
The sun is going down and I got the bulldog blues
So broke, no green
Riding around in my old blue jeans
Since you went away
It’s just an ordinary day
I wake up, I lie down
Me and the dog take a ride into town
No one’s around it’s just an ordinary day

Hi Pat  I just thought you would like to know that the vet called my husband at work this morning to let us know he is looking at whether he can adapt a inhaler sort of medication for Sandy. That would involve using a special mask to help her breathe in the meds. He will call us back next week sometime to let us know for sure. She is now off all meds and unfortunately due to the really high humidity we are currently having she has been coughing a lot particularly at night which is when it seems to get higher.
I know nothing about your part of the world. I tend to think only the "deep South" has to deal with high humidity even though I know better.
I had a culture shock, coming from Oklahoma -- remember "dust bowl", Grapes of Wrath? -- to New Orleans. It took me a couple of years to grow gills so I could breath down here....
Sounds like you have a good vet if he's willing to be so innovative.

Louise, it breaks my heart to think of all the trouble Sandy is having with her coughing. Your vet sounds like he is really trying to help her. I hope he is able to work something out with the inhaler. Do you have air-conditioning
or maybe a dehumidifier? I know they make room dehumidfiers. We keep one in the basement. It only comes on when needed. (((((HUGS))))) for Sandy!

We have airconditioning in the bedroom (a window one) so she sleeps in there with us mainly but if she happens to wander out during the night she will cough as well as during the day or if she gets excited, she has a basket which she stays in near the front door during the day just to rest, the seizure meds make her tired from her epilepsy at times too. We are looking at getting another one installed in the tv room - will be installed in the wall - which is just off the front entrance so will make it a bit more pleasant there for her if it gets really humid. We have tried to get hold of someone who installed an airconditioner for us in our last home, the workman moved towns at almost the same time as we did which is fortunate. He lives not far from us too. Hopefully, it will happen soon.

No, unfortunately. The house didn't come with it and we can't afford to put ducting in every room at the moment, nor is the house really set up for it either. I don't know how the previous owners coped during summer, maybe they liked the humidity. :0009:

Not here anymore since the a/c fell out of the window. I have a nice big unit in the upstairs that is never used and someday I'll get someone to move it down here for me. Have a/c in my bedroom though and I like it cold when I'm sleeping. Which brings me to my point, lol.
Lousie, I've noticed my poms start coughing after I've had the a/c on in the bedroom to the point it's really cold in there. Not much coughing thank goodness but I have noticed the cold air does make them cough.
What was the reason your vet won't give the hydrocodone syrup a try? I forgot if you've answered this before.

Anna, I have noticed Sandy stops coughing when she is sleeping in the cool air in the bedroom so she is just the opposite to yours. Any moisture in the air seems to aggravate her problem, not really sure why but it does help her feel better being in a cool environment.
I think the main reason for not wanting to use the hydrocodone syrup was because in his experience it doesn't really work for a dog with trachea issues. I stand corrected, I went and had a look at the label of the last medication the vet prescribed for us and it was hydrocodone. I wasn't the one who gave it to Sandy for the few days we used it so I didn't know what it was called. Unfortunately, it didn't do anything to really help as the vet suspected but at least he did try it.
Here is some information from a webpage which explains the symptoms and things to avoid for a dog with a collapsed trachea.
Collapsed Trachea: The Health Problem Every Owner of a Small Dog Should Understand
Have you ever heard a dog cough, take shallow, quick breaths,
and honk like a goose?
Those are symptoms of a collapsed trachea, a health problem
found almost exclusively in Toy and other miniature dog breeds.
Not every Toy breed will develop this but enough do
(estimates range from 20% to 40%) that owners should
learn more about this condition.
Highest risk breeds are Chihuahuas, Italian Greyhounds, Maltese, Pomeranians, Toy Poodles and Yorkshire Terriers.
The trachea or windpipe is held open by rings of cartilage.
When the cartilage weakens, the trachea begins to collapse
and the amount of air that can get through is severely restricted.
This condition usually appears between the ages of 4 to
14 years. The restricted airflow puts excess stress on
the heart and lungs.
Heat, humidity and excitement exacerbate the problem. A
dog will have trouble breathing and may try to vomit
to clear his airway.
A dog with a collapsed trachea usually can't exercise without
having problems and in some severe cases, may even pass
out from lack of air. Any exercise is likely to fatigue him.
If your dog does develop symptoms, the condition
usually can be managed with medication and restricted activity.
Sometimes children's flavored cough suppressants can
help or your veterinarian may want you to use a prescription
brand to treat coughs.
In more severe cases, steroids may be used for a time
to reduce inflammation in the trachea. Because of their
side effects, including weight gain, they are seldom
used for long.
In worst cases, the dog's tongue and gums turn blue and
acute attacks require hospitalization. About 1% of dogs
with this condition do die from complications.
A surgical procedure that uses stents to widen the trachea
is available, but this is a risky and expensive surgery that
should only be done as a last resort and only
by a veterinary specialist.
Although the condition is congenital or inherited, there
are things that an owner can do to lessen the onset
or severity of the condition:
1. Feed your dog a high quality dog food
Proper nutrition helps formation of cartilage especially in
the puppy years.
2. Don't overfeed, however, as overweight dogs are
affected more than others
3. Use a harness rather than a collar when walking your dog
He can wear a collar with his tags but don't attach a leash
that adds pressure and pulling around his neck.
4. Don't smoke around your dog
You wouldn't smoke around a human baby, would you?
Remember that it doesn't take much smoke to damage
the airway of a 5-pound dog.
5. Keep vaccinations up to date
This helps prevent respiratory infections.
Watch your dog for symptoms and ensure that he gets
treatment if any symptoms do develop. Most affected dogs
can lead normal, although somewhat restricted, lives.

I see where I said "Have to imagine.." When it should be HARD to imagine...
My parents had a fallout shelter. If I recall, mother's BIL needed something to do, so my parents put him to work building it. It may have been his idea, not sure. Is strange because I didn't grow up ever hearing them say cyclone or a storm is coming up or anything to worry about other than needing rain. So having a cellar to escape to from a storm wasn't something they had... then when the fall-out scare came along... what did they do but build that shelter. Over the years, mother complained about it being there a lot, so it must not have been something she wanted. She thought the BIL built it too high. My thoughts are sort of fragmented on the subject... hadn't thought about it in forever.

Just now getting in from all the festivities today. Great ride it was. Alexis will be on one of the news channels, not sure which one just yet. She was the star of all the queen contestants. Everyone was taking pictures, people we have never seen before.

Pat, when I was in grade school a girl named Viola came to our room to announce that her father was building shelters. Funny how you remember something like that.

My sweetie had to go in to work at 4AM today. He was so aggravated. He said the manager had told another group to pick up the pace and since they didn't he, and his crew, had to go in today. What really aggravated him was, just before he left yesterday he found out some of the parts they'll need haven't arrived. :rolleye0001:

Good morning, Klatchers. Seems I am so busy weekday mornings that I cannot get here often. Bomb shelters? I remember having a few friends whose families were building or thinking about building one. My favorite bomb shelter story is the large one a church was building outside the town I lived in while I was in high school. They thought there would be a nuclear war that would virtually end the world and they would be the saintly survivors. They were a nice group of peaceful people, tho. They filled it with rice, beans, etc (no mention of weapons was ever made). We all kind of laughed at them. They owned a nice pc. of land that was near where a large dam was built, and they got a lot of money from the land because it became prime, hill top land overlooking the lake. They moved completely outside town to a new community, I moved and never gave them another thought till I heard about David Koresh and the Davidians. He (and others) had gone in and completely subverted the mission of that group, ousted the peaceful ones....and we all know the rest of the story. Of course the town I lived in at the time was Waco, Texas.
Good Morning, Klatchers!!!

Ali, did your folks have the fall out shelter stocked with foods? We had a cellar but the only food it was stocked with was potatoes from the garden and some of the veggies my mom and grandmother had canned.
AmyE, sounds like the parade was a lot of fun. We'll be waiting for pictures of the pretty princess.
Billie, Shame on you. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g258/PatC_pics/smilies/tsk-tsk.gif (it WAS funny though -- your DH has a cute sense of humor)

Morning, Klatchers
I remember fall out shelters. We didn't have one but there were designated places all over the city.
Who would have ever thought that those people you knew, Texanne, would have their group infiltrated with Koresh ideas and an ultimate bad end for any of those who didn't move out. Who would ever forget Waco.
Hope you can get some more AC for you house, Louise, and maybe DRJAN's idea will be the thing. It's good that Sandy does have the bedroom for helping keep her comfortable though. So sad that this happens to a lot of little dogs.
Love that car, Amy. Can't wait to see the pictures later.

Hi Klatchers=
Our bomb shelter was the basement; our home had wide stone construction as it was built by the architect for his own home.
All of the canning stuff was in the fruit cellar.
I hid my baseball cards.
I don't remember any bomb shelters in homes, but I think there are a few in some old building around town. :g:

PatC I remember bomb-shelters, we didn't have one but knew someone who did and we were to share with them. What really stands out in my memory --were the drills we had in grade school incase of an attack. We would all have to go to the 'cloakroom'! Anyone remember the drills? I don't think there are cloakrooms anymore. Also one would be sent to the cloakroom if one was being bad. :45024:
AmyE it was so exciting reading about Alexis's day. WOW and what a nice sharp convertible too!
Well can't remember anything else, I will be back later. I have a friend coming and we are going to Ligonier for a sale, Antiques on the Diamond. I have to get ready. Rats and it is suppose to rain.

Not many personal bomb shelters among our Klatchers. So, did anyone have storm cellars? In one town I lived, my brothers and I just loved to run and peek through the hedges at the neighbors behind us when a storm was threatening. They would run around like a chinese fire drill herding dogs & kids into their storm shelter. We always heard "did anyone get the baby?" The mother would be screaming all the kids names. For some disturbing reason, we enjoyed the show. Grins: glad you are enjoying the thrill of victory today.

When I went thru the bacteriology lab in training, we use to get poo poo samples for cultures and parasites. I hated those. The patient had to collect a weeks worth of the poo poo. I had to stir it up real good to get an even sample of the whole lot. :groan: Didn't smell like perfume either! Fill about 5 centrifuge tubes and spin her down. Then take more samples from the lot and make slides. The containers were about the size of a 3 gallon bucket. As I recall they were ice-cream buckets! LOL woooooooooooooo sick and stinky GAG GAG LOL

Yep, curl up under there, keep your head down and put your arms over your head. AND WE FELT WE'D BE SAFE THAT WAY!!!! :0t31::0t31:
texanne==yep, we had a storm cellar?
The one we had behind the house in Altus was built on the order of this one:
http://www.onthefront.ws/images/32152d3.jpg
I don't see a door on that one though.
After I got out of high school and we moved out to Union Valley that house didn't have a shelter but my grandparents were building next door and my grandmother HAD to have a storm cellar .... Daddy found an enterprising young guy over in Stonewall who had devised a "pre-fab" cellar (now this was in 1959... very innovative).
He welded up a Quonset shaped room in his shop and came out with a back hoe and dug the space, delivered the cellar on a flat bed truck and stuck it in that hole and wham! bam! Thank You, ma'am, you had a cellar. And every time there was a cloud in the sky dark enough to carry rain, my grandmother would be urging everybody to get in the cellar.
Roamer==I would more than have "freaked out". I'd probably have been sick. Poor Hoppy.
texanne===:0t31: "Jim West has one of these"...(Wild Wild West). Those pants he wore were tight enough you could probably tell. :happy0158: I saw him interviewed once a couple of years ago and he said he split the seams in those pants at least once every episode.

Now, instead of getting under the desks, the children are told to kneel down against an inside wall. We had a tornado skipping around town a few years ago (took out a tree one block from the school). My grandson was in the bathroom when the alert came over the intercom. When he returned to class he was thrilled to see that all the kids were lined up against the wall for a game of leapfrog (he was a kindergartener).

He solved a murder because the panties on the body had the tag on the right side. So they were on backward. (I think that is right. I wear Hanes and they are stamped in the back):girl_haha: He knew the woman wouldn't have put her panties on backward.
I also loved the one where the guy killed his wife and dressed her in a gown, only to have Columbo look under her pillow and find her gown from the night before. Why would she put on a different gown ?? He was so smart.:67302:

PatC, I loved your post, it is reading an entire synopsis of all of us! Which is good especially from my pea brain. :love0084:
With all the fall out shelter talk, no one mentioned it was because- the Russians were coming! :022: :022: I remember being so afraid of what was going to happen when the Russians got here. Kind of scarry for a 7 or 8 year old. Not too sure we are so safe now either
Yeppers PatC had to be a sample of many days to make sure the sample was a good reprsentation, of what was going on in the bod, as it is or was diffucult to entrap just the right sign of a parasite or whatever. It use to be so for some critters, it would take three samples, collected at different times. Not sure tho, it might be different these days.
Well the antique fair was lovley, but prices too high! I bought a lampshade for $3.00! LOL Ligonier is a lovely town at the foothills of the mountains.
This is the diamond in Ligonier, a lovely little park. We had our lunch sitting on one of the benches. The sellers had their antiques lining the sidewalks, it was really nice and the weather was perfect. I can't believe how they haul the stuff around unpack, then pack it back up, makes me tired to think about it. Also didn't seem too many people were buying. No wonder the prices were outlandish!

Nanaibllie, I love Columbo, he is one of my favorites. Did you see Peter Falk's daughter on TV this past week? I forget what program, but she was there with her attorney. Seems Peter Falk's health is not good, he must have alzheimers. His wife, not the mother of his daughters will not let the this daughter visit with their father. Well she went to court and now has been granted some limited visitation with her father. I'm not sure about the other daughter, whether she was able to visit prior to the ruling. So sad.
By the way Nanabillie, you have excellent recall! That kind of stuff goes in my brain and out the other end.

That makes me so sad about Peter Faulk's daughter not being able to see her Father. I will never understand why people act the way they do, especially at a time like this.
When my Pop died a couple of weeks ago, my step-sister did not list my name, nor my sisters in the obit. I got upset and cried, then just angry. Anytime we were introduced if I said I was his step-daughter, he would say "We don't have steps in our family". He would be so hurt. She will live to regret that, I think.

I was going to ask which word most of you use for the throne in the bathroom. We always said commode, the toilet was one of those out back. Then I googled.
com·mode (khttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/schwa.gif-mhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/omacr.gifdhttp://img.tfd.com/hm/GIF/prime.gif) n. 1. A low cabinet or chest of drawers, often elaborately decorated and usually standing on legs or short feet.
2. a. A movable stand or cupboard containing a washbowl.
b. A chair enclosing a chamber pot.
c. A toilet.
3. A woman's ornate headdress, fashionable around 1700.
[French, from commode, convenient, from Latin commodus; see commodious
Could have been some funny confusions if one was talking chamber pot and the other thinking a hat.:girl_haha:

I call it both but usually toilet. I have to use the toilet, I have to clean the commode. The one "out back" is called the outhouse. Actually had an outhouse not that long ago. My husband built us a cabin on our country land and we moved out there in the boonies in 2002. Soon we found out he had stage 4 cancer and he never was able to finish the inside of the cabin. It was a nice outhouse too complete with spiders, etc. I wouldn't go out there after dark :a1chic: so I used a pot with a lid. Is that a chamber pot? :blondblush113268230

Back....Alexis won 3rd place. She was so proud when they placed a tiara upon her head and handed her flowers, sash, and a check of 5% of her sales. She was so nervous though. Will get pictures posted tomorrow. We have some bad storms coming through, so I hope I don't lose power. Hope all is well. And, we are all sunburned....the heat was terrible today.
Wow! Tell her we are so proud of her. Can't wait to see the pics! :happy0158:

OC, very interesting post about the park and fair. )))))
Oh, yes! The Russians were coming!
Piggly Wiggly is a grocery chain, although, I'm not in the south... I'm southwest.
I was kinda disappointed at the fair. Every year one of the sellers always brought the nicest cloth napkins. She wasn't there.
Thanks Ali well that is solved. Happens I had the story all mixed up LOL My daughter posted on her my space she had purchased tickets for her girls to see Miley Cyrus. Then someone posted they worked with Miley's uncle at the Piggly Wiggly. LOL :67302: I must be nuts today! :71526:

Interesting subject Nanabille! :22wink: Never thought about it to tell you the truth, I say toilet. We use to have an outhouse, came with the property! I called it the outhouse, "have to go to the outhouse" LOL I think,we burned it down. I have to clean the toilets, yep toilet for inside.
I have 4 of those potty chairs, two are at each end of the dining room table. They are quite old, stenciled and all that old pretty painting on them that the Pennsylvania Dutch use to do to everything. Nope, no enamel potties under them anymore, but I do have them. The chairs have a round piece of wood covering the hole, which fit in perfectly. Hopefully they do or one could get their privates pinched! :0t31:
I also have the other described too. A stand with a top, lift the top and a wash bowl fits in the cutout.
Lots of old stuff around here including US! :groan:

Amy, so very proud for the little princess! You will have to get her a special box for her tiara, Plexiglas maybe.
You can also dry her flowers to keep. Lots of good memories you are making together. Stay safe.

Alibar==I know I've read of a piece of called a commode but, honestly I'm not sure I know what it is. At least I didn't till I caught up on yesterday's posts this morning.
A hat == commode! :waitasec: Dint know that.
AmyE ==Congratulations to Alexis!! What an experience for her. I'm looking forward to the pictures. Watch those storms.... did you see the talk about cellars? Do you have one?
annalyzer==:0t31: @ "I have to use the toilet, I have to clean the commode." Isn't it strange that we do that? That's they way I say it too and yes, the one "out back" is called the outhouse.
How long were you able to enjoy the cabin before you had to move back to "civilization"? Do you still have it?

I thought I did look at the camera until I seen the pics, lol. Maybe mom will have one of me looking. My lil cousins was waiting for candy, so I was trying to dig up a bunch to toss. We were at the bottom of the candy...as my family was at the end of the parade. We were the only ones that had candy left by time we got there.
I am gonna try to get Alexis into some small pageants locally to see if she really likes this. The lady on the microphone on stage is a pageant director whom I am friends with.
LOL. I noticed she looked a little unhappy in a couple of them. That must have been nerves.
Yes, but I am the same way when I have to get up in front of a bunch of people, so I guess she took after me. But, not even 10 minutes after she got off stage, she started walking around having everyone smell her flowers. She was the youngest. She is 4, the other 2 little girls are 6, and the older girl was like 13 or 14. So, now you all can see why I say she is tall, she is the same height as the 6 year olds, lol.

GOOD MORNING EARLY BIRDS!!!! Hope everyone had a great weekend. It was in the mid 90's here (heat index in the 100's) and you betcha I was up and out early getting my veggies picked and yard in ship-shape before it got too hot. By 10:30 I was dripping wet so the a/c was calling to me. I 'jarred' some peppers, green beans and some squash and remained out of the heat for the rest of the day. Yesterday was the same routine, except I weeded and trimmed my flowerbeds (all my veggies that were ready were harvested the day before).
Amy, your daughter is beautiful and congratulations on her win.

Thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures of your darling Lexi! She is beautiful and her dress so stunning along with her jewelry to match. Just loved all her expressions too, what a grand and glorious day for her, and only four years old.
If that was one of my granddaughters they would be wearing the dress everyday and probably swinging off the chandelier! lol And also having a great time playing dress-up too. You are real cute too! :friends3:

By 10:30 I was dripping wet so the a/c was calling to me. I 'jarred' some peppers, green beans and some squash and remained out of the heat for the rest of the day. Yesterday was the same routine, except I weeded and trimmed my flowerbeds (all my veggies that were ready were harvested the day before).
Amy, your daughter is beautiful and congratulations on her win.
BLass be sure to keep all the heat down south would ya? LOL It is 69 here so far, not sure what the high is to be, but we have had glorious 70's for quite awhile, occasionally reaching around 80 ish or so. Oh it has be grand!
Your veggies sound wonderful and I bet they taste nothing like we buy. We use to do big veg garden, but now all the gardens are flowers. I don't miss all the work of canning and freezing. ***Birdseye SteamFresh! :girl_haha:
Weeds! ugh, I pulled a few and told DH we don't have too many and he looked at me like I was crazy! Well, I told him to not look too hard for them. It wasn't too long after he was home yesterday he had the tractor out cutting the grass, not surprising. I don't do tractors, the ones he get are too big for me. YEAAAAAAA!

By the way they are getting ready today for a big parade in the burg! I heard a few of the Penguins showed up in Pirate shirts LOL not sure if for the parade or somewhere else, but it is rather late for any help for the Pirates. So I hear. Do you listen to KDKA in the morning? That Marty who is on at 9:00 in the AM is enough to drive one mad! I hope they broke the mold! :0t31:
All are excited about the

Morning, everyone... that means I SEE all! LOL
So the parties are rampant in the burg, eh?
Nice treat to see Alexis pics again this morning. Amy, I'm imagining how she felt when seeing her pix in the forum. Another taste of celebrity! I might show Isabella all the pix, including hers, when they are here today. Might not do it, though, since they've never been in this room and the youngest one would sneak back in to explore more. LOL
Good morning, OC. Oh for the 69-70s temperature. Like BL, I have to get out early for my veggies. I went out this morning and brought in 15 pounds of cucumbers! I wish I'd known how many a plant produces.... I'd have only planted one instead of two.
I have a couple of cantaloupes almost ready to pick. :basic44: Can't wait.

By the way I did see your post about me being so excited DH was coming home. Yeah we are joined at the hip after so many years, highschool and all. But yeah a little absence once in awhile makes the heart grow fonder. LOL He is happy too as long as I don't complain about his golf. LOL Works out well, as I like my space too doing my thing.

Me too! :s1gyahoo:
My laptop sits on the kitchen table, so when the grand daughters come they are in heaven. They each have their membership somewhere on the web with some kind of things they collect. Dang cannot think of what they are called. Oh Webkins, that is it. I think, they make rooms for them or something.
Soon we are off my mil's house, she is home from the rehab and has a list of 25 things she wants done! :groan: 25?????? jeeeeesh! I guess she sits and makes lists. :zm1:

50 years! wow. I wasn't even born yet. I do remember reading something about his death, many years ago. Can't recall if it was a book or what.
I didn't mention it here but this last Friday, June 12, it was 15 years since the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. It hardly seems possible!
My dad's family had some strange birthdays as history turned out to tell it.
My dad was born November 24, which is two days after the JFK assassination. That's not a biggie because it's not the right date, BUT
His sister Nancy was born on December 7 - Pearl Harbor
His sister Lois was born on September 11 !!
Jeff and I seemed to have all 4's and 5's.
He was born 04 - o4
I was born 05 - 14 4+1=5
Jessica was born 04 - 05
We always thought that was kinda neat. :yes2:
