Just horrific to me. This is ongoing since 2000, this couple had other children and IIRC Mary Grodin gave birth to another child while incarcerated.

I believe the Mother has made a deal with the state and should be testifying this upcoming Tuesday. I did not follow this case from the beginning but I am stunned how they have worked the system. New revelations being Gretchen was not farthered by Jusin Grodin. Just so mind blowing.
Should anyone remember or follow this, thought I would post.
My prayers for Gretchen to have justice, May she be joined in heaven with all the other little ones whose lifes were taken.

Man convicted in baby's death sentenced to life
FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A Fort Myers man convicted in the death of his infant daughter has been sentenced to life in prison.

A Lee County judge broke from the jury's recommendation of the death penalty Friday and sentenced 35-year-old Justin Grodin to life behind bars.

Grodin was convicted in June of killing 11-month-old Gretchen Grodin in April 2000. Her body was found buried in a shallow grave in south Fort Myers the next month. The News-Press of Fort Myers says that testimony during trial revealed that Grodin was not the girl's biological father.

The trial was delayed for a decade because of questions about Grodin's mental health. His wife and the girl's mother pleaded guilty to child abuse and is scheduled to be sentenced on Monday.

Lee County investigates dead body found in woods

Story Created: Sep 28, 2009 at 10:08 PM EDT

Lee County, FLA - Witnesses say dozens of buzzards clued them in that something or someone may be in the woods near 41 and College parkway.

Some employees from a nearby medical office say they discovered a man's body Monday afternoon off Kenwood Lane.

Carmen Medina says she could have easily been the person to find the body.
Medina walks her dog in the woods every day.

"Yeah, but today we decided we weren't going to go that way--we had something else to do," said Medina.

She says the discovery opened some old wounds in the community.

"Terrible and it's not the first time. Remember they bury a baby over there? They found a baby that the parents killed and put back there, it really makes me really sad," she said.

Deputies found Gretchen Grodin's body buried in the same area nine years ago.
The child was killed by her step-father and the baby's mother was there when they buried her.
Justin Grodin was recently convicted of her murder and Mary Grodin testified against him at the trial.

"Every time I pass by, I pray for her, I get chills," said Medina of baby Gretchen.

Medina says she'll also pray for whoever was found here almost a decade later.

Deputies won't say if the death is suspicious.
