A missing van that belonged to accused killer Gary Michael Hilton was found Friday in a Habersham County scrap yard, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation announced.

The GBI had issued an alert on Wednesday asking the public for help finding the 1996 white Chevrolet Astro van that had been abandoned on a logging road in White County in 2005. The van was moved from that spot less than a month ago.<snipped>

I dare them to try and say this guy is too crazy to stand trial for Meredith's murder. He knew exactly what he needed to do to get rid of evidence. I can only imagine what they would have found in this 2nd van had it been found before it was vandalized.

Look at these videos. No way this guy hasn't been doing this same thing for years. I just can't get past what he's done to so many people.

CLEVELAND, Ga. – Authorities on Friday found a second van belonging to drifter Gary Michael Hilton that sat abandoned on a forest service road in Georgia for two years before disappearing a month ago.

Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said the 1996 white Chevrolet Astro van was in a scrap metal yard in Habersham County, Ga.

The GBI said a man who had seen a flat-bed tow truck remove the vehicle from the forest service road in the Chattahoochee National Forest called in after media reports about the search for the missing van.

Agents recovered it and transported it to the GBI’s Regional Investigative Office in Cleveland, where it will be processed for evidence next week.

The van had been stripped and is in very bad condition, the GBI said.

Hilton is a suspect in deaths in three states, including the killing of hiker Irene Bryant and the disappearance of her husband John near Brevard in October.

N.C. State Bureau of Investigation agents also are looking into whether Hilton may have been involved in disappearance of 26-year-old Rossana Miliani, who was last seen in Bryson City on Dec. 7, 2005, a month after Hilton was cited for his abandoning the van.

ATLANTA (AP) -- Georgia authorities have recovered a hacksaw, baton, duct tape, a bloodstained yellow jacket and other items from Gary Michael Hilton's van -- evidence that could be important in investigations into three other deaths.

Hilton is now serving a life sentence after pleading guilty in the death of a 24-year-old hiker who disappeared on an outing at Blood's Mountain on New Year's Day.

Authorities believe the jacket may have belonged to a couple killed after they were abducted as they hiked in North Carolina's Pisgah National Forest in October.

Florida officials also are trying to determine whether Hilton was responsible for the death of Cheryl Hodges Dunlap.

Florida's State Crime Lab will look through the evidence obtained through a search warrant executed on January fifth. That's the day after Hilton was arrested at a Georgia gas station while cleaning his van.

Hilton lived out of his van in the months leading up to his arrest. Investigators also found drug paraphernalia and pornographic magazines.

ATLANTA -- There were new revelations Tuesday about what investigators found inside confessed killer Gary Hilton’s van. Channel 2 got an exclusive copy of the report for his van.

In January, Hilton admitted to killing Georgia hiker Meredith Emerson.

Whenever Georgia Bureau of Investigation agents get a search warrant they’re required to file a document which lists everything they found inside. It is an extremely detailed document and the GBI told Channel 2’s Jodie Fleischer that some of the items listed are still considered evidence in other pending cases against Gary Hilton.

When agents with the GBI caught Hilton January 4, he was at a DeKalb County gas station. His white van was parked near the vacuum cleaner and officials say, he was trying to destroy evidence. But he didn’t get it all.

"He lives in it, it's his home and everything he owns probably was in that van and so when you think of it that way it was potentially a big evidentiary catch,” said John Cagle with the GBI.

The list is lengthy and detailed. Twenty shirts and a dozen pair of pants, eight jackets, 29 hats and three sleeping bags.

Medical papers in the van confirmed Hilton does have multiple sclerosis. Hypodermic needles and various medications were also found along with pornographic magazines, personal lubricant, condoms and a bong.

"Some was very expensive cold weather gear, something you'd look at him and someone virtually homeless and lives in his van, how would he acquire that kinds of stuff,” Cagle.

Some of it may have belonged to other people, like Emerson, who Hilton admitted kidnapping on New Years Day and then beating to death in the north Georgia woods. Hilton’s weapons included a sling blade, a hack saw and three air pistol BB guns.

"We not only recovered things that were helpful to Florida but some other timeline items that also will be helpful to North Carolina,” said Cagle.

Agents found at least four separate blood stains -- one of the outside of the sliding door of the van, another on a yellow jacket which may have been the one hiker John Bryant was wearing when he and his wife were kidnapped and murdered in North Carolina. Hilton is a suspect in their deaths.

Agents swabbed several items including a fanny pack, a receipt and a yellow raincoat. Surveillance pictures at a Ducktown, Tennessee ATM show someone wearing a yellow raincoat using the Bryant’s bank card after they were reported missing.

The GBI would not confirm which specific items are part of cases in other states. They did say all of the Georgia evidence will now be sent to the state crime lab in Florida. Hilton is the only named suspect in the murder of a woman found in a national forest in Florida.

He has not been charged in either the Florida case or the case of the Bryant’s.

REI sleeping bags range from $150-180 bucks.
REI hiking pants range from $50-100 bucks.
The North Face adult jackets range from $100-130 bucks.
The North Face mens pants range from $65-150 bucks.
Sierra Designs tent range from $350-480 bucks.

I had to google to get an idea of prices. I'm sick thinking of who this guy killed to get his hands on their things. I don't think LE has even begun to figure out Hilton's victims.

I don't think they have either, I believe there are quite a few more. I don't think this is anything he just started doing, I think he's been at it a while.

FDLE lab personnel will go through the evidence for hair, fibers, DNA, blood and fingerprints, said Maj. Mike Wood, of the Leon County Sheriff's Office.

"There's just so much evidence that can be mined out of this entire process," Wood said. "It's almost beyond description. It's a little bit overwhelming, quite frankly, but we're very confident that it's going to be of benefit to us in the Cheryl Dunlap investigation, as well as the Bryants'. It has a serious potential to tie the unknown cases at this juncture."

Sounds like those vans are full of DNA evidence.
"Obviously, that would be an ideal situation," Wood said. "We would love to do that. But historically, and I can only speak to the Georgia case, Mr. Hilton is not amenable to an interview without conditions that he proposes. And we're not really in a position right now that we feel compelled to offer him any conditions or concede to any of his conditions. We feel really good about the way this case is moving forward."

I'm glad to hear Hilton is not dominating this situation. I pray LE can find evidence to connect him to as many unsolved cases as they can and then give him the DP.
A GBI Special Agent John Cagle said Thursday that investigators believe Hilton stole the REI clothing from hikers and campers. REI clothing has a tag which allows tracking of where the item was purchased, but Hilton had cut out all of the tags.
How was he smart enough to know to cut out the tags? And notice that they don't mention what he did to the hikers/campers he stole from. :eyebrow1qb:

OMGosh!!!!! I was reading the comments from the above article and someone suggested that LE talk with a blogger and linked this...

Apparently, the guy lives on property next to where Meredith was found. Look what he found after GBI had finished their CSI and left the site...

I found this interesting from the guy that owns that property...

"I realize that I sound alittle over the edge, at times. I feel that Meredith could have, and should have been rescued. It tears at my heart that she was held for four days, less than 300 yards from my home, and the GBI, didn't release the information to the media that would have assisted in her rescue. If John Tabor, had dialed 911 instead of the GBI, she would be walking with Ella as we speak, I am confident of that. I saw his van in the field next to my home; thursday evening. I would have rescued her myself if the media had been alerted sooner. Hilton was spotted in front of the abandoned house Friday 01/04/08 at 9AM, by a neighbor. He wasn't aware of his presence.
I don't wan't this too happen to anyone else's daughter.
Sincerely Glenn"

Interesting and truly sad if it's true. I tried to follow the blog, but not sure is this the same guy who thinks the demon entered his body?
