LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Suzanne Pleshette, the husky-voiced star best known for her role as Bob Newhart's sardonic wife on television's long-running "The Bob Newhart Show," has died at age 70.
Pleshette, whose career included roles in such films as Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" and in Broadway plays including "The Miracle Worker," died of respiratory failure Saturday evening at her Los Angeles home, said her attorney Robert Finkelstein, also a family friend.
Pleshette underwent chemotherapy for lung cancer in 2006.

I haven't seen anything about her in a long time, and had no idea she'd been so ill.

RIP :1222423:
She was on Entertainment Tonite a few months ago being interviewed with Bob Newhart. She has had lung cancer since late 2006. She was a really good actress. Back in the late 1960's she played in a few movies with Troy Donahue. She played Leona Helmsley perfect. She's been in several movies for Lifetime in the past years. She will truely be missed.
She had such a talent and could play any part. Many of todays actresses are as talented as she was.

this is a very sad loss. She was such a natural comedienne, and she and Bob Newhart played off each other beautifully. I think she was truly one of the few celebrities who never let it go to her head. She will be missed.

She was wonderful. 70 is not old anymore either. On another board, someone said there will be a marathon of "Bob Newhart Show" on TVLand tonight.
Texas, your avatar looks exactly like my bigger kitten, Toby Tiger. Adorable.

She remained pretty even though she was getting older, too.
