Straight from our local newspaper.
A missing 15-year-old Hampton girl, Harlee Hyder, was located early this morning by the Carter Conty Sheriff's Department, working in cooperation with the Erwin Police Department.

Hyder was found around 1a.m. today at an Erwin residence in the company of a 21-year-old man, who police said was a soldier stationed at Fort Drum, N.C.

Sherrif Chris Mathes said Hyder "was determined to run away."

She was last seen Friday night, when her father dropped her off at a dance at Hampton High School. Witnesses at the dance said Hyder never came into the building.

Missing 15-year-old girl found in East TN with soldier
Last updated: 1/25/2008 9:00:41 AM

A 15-year-old girl who went missing over the weekend has been found with a 21-year-old soldier in East Tennessee.

The Hampton girl was dropped off at a high school dance on Saturday and had not been seen since. Police received a tip early Thursday morning that she was in Erwin.

Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes says the girl was found unharmed with Edwin Sherrill, an Army soldier based at Fort Drum, N.Y.

The soldier has been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and could face other military charges. It was not immediately known if he was on leave.

The girl faces juvenile charges of being a runaway.
