RENO, Nev. — A 19-year-old college student mysteriously vanished from a Reno, Nev., home early Sunday morning, and cops fear she may have been kidnapped.
Brianna Denison, a student at Santa Barbara City College, was staying with friends near the University of Nevada, Reno around 4 a.m. Sunday.
"We're treating this as an abduction case right now," Lt. Robert McDonald of the Reno Police Department told FOX News. "A small amount of blood on her pillow is of interest to us."
Cops are looking for a GMC Suburban and a white male, about 45-years-old, who might be of Latin descent.
"He's certainly a person of interest. We're treating him as a person of interest, not a suspect," McDonald said.
Denison is described as white, 5-feet tall, 98 pounds, with long dark brown hair and blue eyes.
Investigators say she may have been wearing light blue or pink sweat pants.

The man driving the vehicle had picked up a friend of Denison's earlier that evening from the party both were attending when the friend was trying to hail a cab and dropped her off without incident at Mackay Court, the residence where she lived and Denison was staying, McDonald told FOXNews.com.
"We don't know who he is," McDonald said. "We know he was outside the residence, but he could have come back. ... Maybe he saw something or knows something that might be of interest."

Man Sought in Teen's 'Suspicious' Disappearance
By DAVID SCHOETZ
Jan. 21, 2008
Police in Reno, Nev., want to talk to a man they believe may have information about a 19-year-old woman's "suspicious" disappearance Sunday.
Brianna Denison was last seen around 4 a.m. Sunday when she went to sleep on the sofa at a friend's house near the University of Nevada in Reno. The two had been at a party at the Sands Regency Hotel Casino earlier in the night. The friend gave Denison a blanket and pillow before going upstairs to bed.
When the friend came downstairs later in the day, Denison was missing and a bloodstain the size of a "silver dollar" was on the pillow she had been using, Lt. Robert Macdonald, a spokesman for the Reno Police Department, told ABC News.
The blood caused some alarm for police, Macdonald said, but the bigger concern was that it appeared Denison had disappeared wearing no shoes and only the sweats and a light shirt she'd worn to bed. Her cell phone and purse had also been left behind.
"It's all very suspicious at this point," Macdonald said. "She hasn't attempted contact with any family members or friends." Denison's mother, her only surviving parent, has been in contact with authorities and her boyfriend, who lives in Oregon, was in his home state Saturday night.
The search intensified today when authorities announced that they wanted to talk to an unnamed man in his 40s who may have information on Denison's whereabouts.
A man in a sport utility vehicle picked up one of Denison's friends around 1 a.m. Sunday at the Sands Regency Hotel Casino after she failed to find a taxi. The driver dropped her at the house where Denison was staying. While the ride was without incident and police are not calling the man a "suspect," they say that he is a "person of interest" who may know something about the disappearance. "It's a leaf that's unturned," Macdonald said.
Reno police released a surveillance image showing the man's beige or light-brown Chevrolet Suburban leaving the casino's parking lot Sunday morning. The unidentified driver is described as a white male, possibly of Latin descent, with a medium build. He was well-dressed, according to police.
Authorities also announced that a brown stuffed bear about 2 feet tall was missing from the house where the man had dropped Denison's friend. Denison's friend gave her the stuffed animal to use as an additional pillow before the two went to bed around 4 a.m. Sunday. Denison was reported missing around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Macdonald said that there was no indication Denison had been drinking heavily or using drugs Saturday night and that none of the roommates who live in the house reported any altercations at the casino party. The house, which is rented by college students, was not locked during the night, so there is no evidence of a forced entry.
Denison is a student at Santa Barbara City College in California but is from the Reno area.
She is described as 5 feet tall, weighing 98 pounds, with long dark brown hair and blue eyes. Detectives say Denison may be wearing light-blue or pink sweat pants and a white tank top.

Family Offering Reward For Missing Woman
Last Updated: 6:53 PM Jan 21, 2008
Reporter: Auburn Hutton
The entire nation is stunned by the mystery of a missing college student.
19-year-old Brianna Denison of Reno disappeared early Sunday morning, after staying the night at a friend's home near UNR. Suspicious details about her disappearance have sent family members on a nationwide hunt for the missing woman.
She's been away at school, studying psychology at Santa Barbara City College...but she came home this weekend to visit her old Reno High School friends and her family members.
Her friends say Brianna and a group of other young women, attended a large concert and party in downtown Reno...but when the night was over, Brianna went missing.
Police are combing the neighborhood Brianna disappeared from. It's the home of four sorority girls on Mackay Way, just blocks from UNR. One of the students, "K.T." Hunter is a close friend of the missing girl. She says Brianna went to sleep on a couch in the living room, but when she woke up to check on her...
"She wasn't there and I noticed blood on the pillow so we called the cops. From then, it's just been a nightmare," said Hunter.
KT says a stuffed bear was also missing, but Brianna's shoes, purse and cell phone were still inside. When Brianna went to sleep, all she had on was a tank top and a pair of sweats. The door to the home was unlocked, but KT says her friend had no enemies.
"I have no thoughts of who could have done this, who could have just walked into my house and taken my friend."
Police followed shallow leads, sending search and rescue volunteers to check every corner of the open land near King's Row, for any sign of the missing girl. While they turned up with nothing, Brianna's family members aren't giving up. Her aunt, Rena Denison, says she's covering the city in missing person posters, hoping someone will recognize her niece.
"What scares me is, like the dog not barking. Did he know that person that came in? Did they sleep through a dog barking? Why did she not scream?" said Denison.
Rena says police are investigating Brianna's most recent boyfriend, a young college student who lives in Oregon. She says he and Brianna exchanged a series of text messages the night she disappeared.
"Just awful. They were breaking up kind of stuff, saying awful things, calling her all kinds of names. He's just young and jealous," said Denison.
Brianna's aunt says the boyfriend was in Reno Friday night, but was supposed to return to college the next day. She says police are also looking closely at another ex-boyfriend who lives out of town, as well as a 45-year-old man who gave the girls a ride home after the party. Police have this surveillance video of the man's car leaving the parking lot of "Sands."
"That's a good friend, Ian, who took us home so we wouldn't have to get a cab or anything, but no, he's harmless," said Hunter.
Police are not naming any suspects at this point. While KT insisted the man who drove them home would never hurt anyone, police say they are interested in talking to the driver of that SUV.
Brianna's family is determined to find out where she is. They're offering a $100,000 reward to anyone who can provide information that leads to her safe arrival at home.
Brianna's aunt Rena says police want an alibi from the boyfriend, just to make sure he was where he says he was that night. Other than that, the whole thing is very mysterious.
Brianna's friend, KT seems to think it may have been just a random person who saw her friend sleeping inside. She made reference to two other recent rapes and attempted rapes that have taken place in that neighborhood.
Search and Rescue halted the search late Monday afternoon. They plan to reconvene early Tuesday morning.

FBI has joined Denison disappearance
Posted: 1/22/2008
The Reno Police Department said this morning the FBI has joined the investigation into the disappearance of a missing 19-year-old Reno woman.
Reno police detectives have been in contact with local Federal Bureau of Investigation agents since Brianna Denison’s disappearance Sunday and said the FBI has opened its own criminal case and assigned an agent to work with the Reno Police Department.
Denison was reported missing Sunday by a friend with whom she was spending the night. Denison is described as white, about 5 feet tall with long dark brown hair and blue eyes and weighing about 98 pounds. She was last seen wearing pink sweatpants and a white tank-top shirt. While a brown stuff bear with white and multi-colored balloons on the belly and about 24-inches tall was missing from the area where she was sleeping, her cell phone, purse and clothing, including two pairs of shoes had not been disturbed.
Reno police officers today continued to canvas the neighborhood and areas adjacent to the residence at 1395 Mackay Court where Denison was spending the night with friends on the morning of her disappearance.
Reno police have worked has with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies since her disappearance and conducted searches of the area, including an extensive search of nearby Rancho San Rafael Park including the use of helicopters and police canine units.
Monday, the Reno Police Department established a 24-hour tip line to gather information to assist in the investigation and detectives are following up on information provided on the tip line. Monday evening, members of Brianna Denison’s family made an appeal for her return and for anyone with information about her disappearance to call the tip line at 745-3521. Information can also be called into the Secret Witness Program at 322-4900 or the Reno Police Department detective division at 334-2115.
Reno Police detectives are also hoping to speak with the driver of a beige or light brown Chevrolet or GMC suburban-style SUV who provided a ride to the Mackay Court address for a friend of Denison’s who lived there to determine if he saw anything unusual. He is described as being a white male, possibly of Latin descent, about 45-years of age of medium stature and well dressed. The vehicle was photographed by security cameras as it left the Sands Regency Casino & Hotel via the Arlington Street driveway. The driver of the vehicle is not considered a suspect, but only a person of interest who may have information that could assist with the investigation.
Reno Police detectives are awaiting results of tests conducted on a silver dollar sized spot that potentially could include blood found on a pillow she was using.
Detectives also said today that at this time there does not appear to be a connection between Denison’s disappearance and two assaults on female college students near the University of Nevada Reno campus late last year. Reno detectives are continuing the investigation into those incidents.

Her friend, K.T. Hunter, 19, went to sleep in her bedroom with her dog and locked her door. Denison was sleeping right outside her door. Hunter and the other roommate who was sleeping upstairs said they did not hear any disturbances."

I also read that the couch was on the wall opposite of her girlfriends bedroom, yet no one heard anything.
Given the nature of the text message dialogue between Bri & her boyfriend that day/night, I think it will be critical in accounting for his whereabouts that early Sunday morning.

I read where the house was left unlocked that night. Maybe they never lock the door because people are coming and going, don't know. Point being, with 2 attacks in November, why would young girls or anyone leave a door unlocked for easy access? Guess young people do not think how vulnerable they leave themselves some time.
I am wondering if in the other attacks in November, if they kidnapped the victim(s). If that information is in any of the links I missed it. Just strange that the female roommate made the comment about the other attacks in one of the links. So, she was aware of an attacker but yet they did not lock the house.
Still hoping this young girl is found safe.
All comments my opinion only.

PREVIOUS UNSOLVED ASSAULT ON UNR CAMPUS;
Crime Lab To Conduct DNA Testing In UNR Rape Case
Posted: 1:30 PM Dec 19, 2007
Last Updated: 4:55 PM Dec 19, 2007
An off-campus assault on a 22-year-old student has many at UNR, has many students looking over their shoulders.
The kidnapping and assault took place early Sunday morning.
It was the second assault in a month and both cases remain unsolved.
The victim was abducted from a parking space behind an apartment building just up the street from the main UNR campus.
Three days later investigators have little to go on.
The victim was walking home just west and across North Virginia Street from the campus.
In a parking space behind an apartment building she was grabbed from behind.
At this point leads are few and far beyond.
The Washoe County crime lab has put a priority on processing physical evidence for possible DNA and failing that, investigators have to put their hope on the public.
Officials have received tips from secret witness of which none have panned out.
Still the possibility that someone saw or knows something is their best hope as the victim could give few details.
The man is described only as a white male, slender, perhaps wearing an oakland raiders t-shirt. (PREVIOUS REPORT STATED HE WAS HEAVY SET??)
Meanwhile, the incident has put the University neighborhood on edge.
Todd Renwick, Assistant Police Chief, notes that by and large the University has a safe record. "There's no reason for alarm, but there's always reason for caution and thinking ahead".
Secret witness has posted a $2 thousand dollar reward for information leading to arrest and prosecution in this case.
Their number is 322-4900 and callers may remain anonymous.
Police have no evidence that the two cases are connected, but they have no evidence that they aren't.
In the first case, the victim was also grabbed from behind.
She fought and screamed and her attacker fled.
They know so little in either case at this point and it's impossible to say if they are looking for the same man in both.

Detectives were awaiting test results on whether a silver dollar-sized stain on the pillow she was using is blood.
She slept on a couch near an unlocked glass door, using a 2-foot tall teddy bear as an extra pillow. The brown bear had white and multicolored balloons on its belly.
When the friend awoke, Denison and the teddy bear were gone. Her purse, cell phone and clothes, including two pairs of shoes, were undisturbed.
So, someone quietly slipped through the glass door and carried away Brianna and a 2 ft bear. Or did the bear have blood on it and they needed to get rid of evidence. Maybe missed the small spot on the pillow.

Thanks for doing the map. Pretty scary. Roughly a month between each. If it is related, I wonder if he accidently killed her and then had to hide her body? (And the bunny)

There is a good possibility that the predator does live in the triangle if the cases are all connected. It shouldn't be that hard to check all of those houses.
In fact, that is what could have led them to do a door to door search the other day.

Looking at the map, there doesn't seem to be a lot of open area to hide a body. I wonder if any of those homes are vacant? Is this like student housing type of apts?

I also read that the couch was on the wall opposite of her girlfriends bedroom, yet no one heard anything.
Given the nature of the text message dialogue between Bri & her boyfriend that day/night, I think it will be critical in accounting for his whereabouts that early Sunday morning.
With the door unlocked I think it could be possible for someone to sneak in and maybe incapacitate Brianna, maybe with a rag over her mouth? I'd like to know more about m/o of the other assaults.

As Shango watches from afar with the Eye of God with great acuity, so does the Global Incident Satellite.
http://www.globalincidentmap.com/home.php
I found this tool a few months ago and have been using it for all kinds of Real Time Maps and information. In the right hand corner there is a button that says Satellite. Click that for Real Time and it refreshes every 300 seconds. The picture quality blows away Google Earth, even though I believe GIM / SAT is a Google Product. Having an ultra sharp monitor always helps too.
It's relatively new, and I am still trying to figure out how to use it in a "Minority Report" kind of way. If that Satellite is filming or observing from a great altitude, with relatively clear quality, it must have a record of who entered and exited the house where Brianna was sleeping.

The friend (KT Hunter) is giving the cameraman a tour of the house, her room, telling how Brie decided to sleep on the sofa. She was given a pillow and blanket. She's showing the door that would've been unlocked. She's explaining the door was unlocked because people come in at all hours. She woke up about 9am. She looked around the rest of the house for Brie. Then called police. Police asked her not to talk anymore about if anything was disturbed in the house. Blood on the pillow but police asked her not to talk more about it. Only people who have lived there would have a key but copies are easy to make. End of August there was a break-in and some items of roommates were taken. Total of 4 people live there in the house.
She's making an appeal for whoever has her to please return her immediately.
More with Mark shortly ~

The inside of the house including the sofa can be seen from the street. Mark is outside the house now with the cameraman. The sofa is right inside the door. Single cylinder deadbolt lock on the door. He's showing cameraman the fingerprint dust on the door and light switches. Living room small, maybe 10x12. Door to KT Hunter's bedroom right at end of sofa; has lock on it. 2 male roommates were in Oakland California that night, Melissa female roommate not home, only other person there was KT Hunter. Habit to leave front door unlocked. Glass back door being shown, about 14-15 feet from front door. Another door, sliding glass door, has stick in it to keep door from opening. No indication it was disturbed. Address is 1395 McKay.
Mark joins Greta now. College residential area, very cold outside. Dogs not picking up on her scent anywhere outside. He hasn't been able to get information on the blood on the pillowcase, also stuffed animal that is missing.
Showing more video at night and how visible the sofa is. Neighborhood is working class, mostly college rentals. Talking about other assaults. M/O doesn't match other assaults. 1/4 mile to the n/w there is what looks like a quarry. Much partying had been going on that night.

I agree, the perp is most likely from within that general area.
Hey ya Grande!!! Great to see you my friend...
When Jack the Ripper was recently triangulated using new techniques that combine all of the killing locations, it was narrowed down to a one mile radius. They then went back and looked at who lived in all of the houses during that period and nailed it down to two or three possible suspects (all lived in the one mile radius). Not totally down to one, but a remarkable step forward in technology. If the people in that case were still alive, you could eliminate them by interviewing and checking any alibis. It would certainly be down to one suspect shortly.
So, I agree. Unless there is some unknown connection to the area, such as - work, then I would imagine the culprit is someone living in the immediate area. And that's a nightmare in itself.
Blood on pillow sure seems like an incapacitation punch to the face to render this little girl unconscious and to ensure there would not be a struggle.

Mark said it's believed there was partying going on in the house (maybe neighborhood?) that night that hasn't been discussed much. Greta had asked him if it's possible Brie got up and wandered out the door after a night of drinking, etc. and if there was a river nearby. That's when he mentioned there are cars, houses, and the quarry about 1/4 mi. away.

Not to be taken as a joke, but is there any chance at all that Brianna was taking Ambien?
The reason I ask is because I read an article on Ambien and in the article there seems to be a lot of patterns that have nothing to do with sleeping and actually have the person walking around and preforming all kinds of tasks.
In another article I read, there seems to be a huge problem with Ambien in England and one London hotel has come up with a protocol for when guests appear naked in the lobby. Apparently this is a side affect that most do not want.
So, I thought I would ask if there was any known Ambien use. Although that's not something likely to be known at this juncture. And highly unlikely in a case where abduction appears to be the prime candidate.

It's almost incomprehensible that no one heard anything and yet there is blood that would suggest a struggle. The location of the blood stain suggests to me she recieved an injury to her throat, perhaps by knife point.
Another thing that sticks out to me is the time in which atleast two of these assaults took place. Brianna was abducted sometime after 4:23am Sunday night. The December assault was at appx. 4:00 am on a Sunday night as well. Perhaps our perp works the 'graveyard' shift ?? Or perhaps a newspaper carrier ?? Don't they typically do their routes early in the AM ?? Obviously most people aren't active at this time of the morning.

Police frustrated by lack of leads in case of missing Reno woman
Associated Press - January 23, 2008 9:34 PM ET
RENO, Nev. (AP) - With few leads and little evidence, frustration is mounting in the search for Brianna Denison four days after the 19-year-old college student mysteriously vanished from Reno.
Police questioned a man who gave a ride home to Denison's friend the night Denison disappeared from the home near the UNR campus. But investigators said today he is not a suspect in the apparent abduction.
UNR police chief Adam Garcia says at this point, they don't have any credible leads. He told a Reno radio station tonight, that, in his words:
"Basically, Brianna has disappeared. She has fallen off the face of the Earth."
Denison was last seen at 4 a.m. Sunday. Police said she was sleeping on a couch near an unlocked glass door after a night of partying. When her friends awoke later that morning, she was gone - but her clothes, purse and cell phone were left behind.
Police with search dogs have canvassed the neighborhood a half-mile north of the downtown casino district since Monday but have found no sign of the young woman, no footprints, no tire tracks that would aid in the investigation.
Reno police commander Ron Holladay says abductions by strangers are extremely rare anywhere, and even rarer in Reno. He says it's very frustrating to have absolutely no clues, no evidence, no witnesses.

There was another co-ed murdered in SC in 2006, who'd probably left the door to her apt. unlocked. But this one is even more bizarre with the glass panes on the door, no blinds, sofa right there and the door left unlocked "because people come and go all the time". Well, it sure does look like someone just helped themselves to "coming and going" and took Brianna.

YES! Grande, I saw the couch and the bed the friend slept on. They are separated by one thin wall.
I initially heard there was a silver dollar size blood drop, then heard TWO smaller drops. So I am not sure at all.
As for the time of the crime itself, it sure does seem like a crime of opportunity and possibly not something planned or timed out.
Not many predators are trolling for a victim at 4+am. There just aren't enough potential victims available at that time.

Reno police seek man who raped, robbed woman
Staff Report RENO GAZETTE-JOURNAL
Posted: 5/11/2005 11:08 pm
Police continue to search for a man who raped and robbed a woman walking back to her car from a Reno park earlier this month.
A sketch of the suspect has been released and police hope someone recognizes him.
The attack was about 12:30 a.m. May 3 at Paradise Park in northeast Reno.
He battered the woman, stole her money and assaulted her.
Police describe the suspect as black, in his 20s, about 5-foot-8-inches tall, medium build and 150 to 170 pounds. He had no facial hair.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Reno police child abuse/sex crimes unit at 325-8040 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.

Police Think Missing Woman Was Abducted By a Stranger
Last Updated: 4:57 PM Jan 24, 2008
Reporter: Auburn Hutton
Email Address: auburn.hutton@kolotv.com
It's been five days since Brianna Denison vanished from a Reno home, but investigators still have very little to go on. Police have followed several different leads, but so far, they've come up with nothing. They still don't have any suspects in the case, but they're now saying they believe Brianna was abducted by a stranger.
It seems to be sort of a process of elimination. Wednesday, police interviewed about 100 sex offenders, but found no clues. They also cleared the name of a 45-year-old "person of interest." Brianna's family says he volunteered a DNA sample and a lie detector test, so police let him go. Other than that, the only real evidence police have to work with is a little bit of blood that was left on her pillow.
For the first time since Brianna went missing, the neighborhood near the home on Mackay Court was fairly quiet Thursday morning. Police cars no longer combed the streets for evidence, and local students seemed to be back to business.
From an outsider's viewpoint, it almost looks like the police have stopped the search, but Brianna's family says that's not the case.
"As of right now, they are working their hardest. They said they are working all the time, knocking on doors. They have the dogs out, smelling for her scent. I know they're doing all they can do," said Brianna's cousin, Ashley Zunino.
The problem is, without any solid leads or clues, there is a limit to what police can do. Brianna's cousin, Ashley Zunino, says she and the rest of the family will never give up hope. Zunino says she truly believes her cousin is still alive, and that she's somewhere in Reno.
"I have my suspicions. I just want the community to know that someone needs to come forward fast, immediately. We want someone to come forward. Someone knows something about Brianna."
She says Brianna's boyfriend is not a suspect, and in fact, he's as shocked and saddened by Brianna's disappearance as the rest of her family. Zunino thinks someone else, someone unknown to the public, knows where Brianna is.
"I have a feeling she's with someone. Someone has her. A stranger? I don't know. I don't know."
Police say they're still awaiting DNA results from the blood on Brianna's pillow...and investigators are still conducting interviews. While they follow what little they have to work with, the family is only trying to cope. Zunino says her cousin's disappearance still feels like a dream.
"I feel like she'll walk in the door any day. I feel like she'll call me any second and just say 'sorry, it was all just a big misunderstanding.'"
Investigators say a 24-hour tip line will stay open, at least through this weekend. If you know anything about where Brianna Denison may be, or if you have any other information about what happened the night she went missing, you should call the tip line at 745-3521.

It's a fairly simple test to determine if a stain is blood. That shouldn't take days. But, if they're trying to determine if its Brianna's blood that might take a bit. Or if its blood from her abductor...we can only hope so.
Did LE ever say if they'd gotten any viable fingerprints from the door?

But I want to say, Greta, that we are discovering that there was a little bit more partying then everybody is really reporting, and I think a little less coherence that we have heard previously reported.
Maybe this is why the friend didn't hear anything. The dog may've barked and KT was too asleep to hear.

Last night the friend said she got up around 9am and noticed Brie missing. Well, Brie was texting her boyfriend at 4:30am and both had been out partying ~ so ~ isn't it a little odd that the friend would be up making breakfast at 9am? And when did Jessica get home? I thought KT said everyone else was gone?

"Two of her friends, Jessica Deal and K.T. Hunter, said they started making breakfast Sunday morning when they saw Denison's personal items.
"We started piecing together later that hour that everything was still there," Deal said. "There is no way she left voluntarily." "

I'm not sure if this has been discussed already or not, so, if it has, I apologize in advance.
But, does anyone think these could be related?
Mariela Moreno went missing on New Years after her boyfriend dropped her off at her house at 4:30am after a night of partying.
She went missing from Henderson, NV.
Sounds pretty similar. Anyone know if these have been looked into as being related?

No problem :) that was a good idea and they could be connected if the perpetrator travels around the state. It's happened before! I just think with Brie's disappearance that unlocked door and no curtains was an open invitation for someone. It's a sad reality, but people need to be careful!

Greta on now talking about Brianna.
Mark is saying that the evening started about 9pm, then went to a concert with friends ended around 12:30am, then went to Sands Hotel/Casino to party. About 600 students renting rooms at the Sands. A lot of partying going on at KT Hunter's house. Implying Brianna would've been quite intoxicated when she "passed out" on the couch. The other assaults are quite nearby. No similarity in m/o with Brianna's disappearance ~ neither were kidnapped.
Mark showing a somewhat aerial view of Brianna's parents house. Brianna had been staying with them while visiting Reno. Jessica picked her up. It's about 8-9 mi. from Hunter's place. Stop by Hunter's place because KT isn't ready to leave for the concert (Livestock Center on Wells Ave. is pictured). Arrive at Sands 12:30am-1am Sunday morning. Jessica leaves around 2am and flags down the motorist in the GMC Suburban. KT & Brianna stay at Sands and hook up with Ian, another friend. They leave sometime after 3am, maybe around 3:30am. Ian gives them a ride home (Hunter's), he doesn't go inside house. KT gives Brianna a pillow, blanket and teddy bear as an extra pillow. Around 9:30am KT & Jessica making breakfast and discover Brianna is missing.

Well, I WAS gonna post this and then decided not to.. Now I have reconsidered.
I am having a problem with the 2 foot tall teddy bear being missing. Predators do NOT take anything but the victim. Often they do not even care if they leave evidence behind. I would image that the predator would have thrown the teddy bear on the ground outside the house once he had his victim.
If this is a crime of opportunity (i.e. the door being unlocked) - then there would be nothing missing but Brianna.
Something is not making sense in this case.
I have a feeling (And that's all it is) that the people in the house know more than they are saying.
With the teddy bear being missing, I get the impression that it is evidence and needed to vanish in order to protect the predator.
I also have a feeling that there could be a chance that the other assaults in the immediate area could be cover and a coincidence in this case.
I hope I am wrong and one of Brianna's friends did not harm her, but something is not making sense here. It sometimes happens in missing person cases.

It seems to me if they were involved and did remove the bear they would have removed the pillow with the alleged blood stains, jmo. Secondly, why would KT even mention the 2ft. teddy if she played a role and disposed of it in order to conceal evidence. LE had no idea a 2ft. teddy exsisted until KT mentioned it.
It's unfortunate but I'm sure their will be plenty of people speculating about the possibility her friends played a role, I just don't get the impression that is the case.

Grande, you're probably correct. Like always my brother.
Do we know exactly who was in the house that night? I understand that the boyfriend and the person that has dropped Brianna off have been cleared. That would leave an unknown (at this time predator) and the people in the house as possible suspects.
During the interview on Wed. (???) indicates that four people live in the house - 2 females - 2 males. I have not heard that they have been cleared. Doesn't mean that they haven't been, just that I have not heard so to date.
Do we know if all of the tenants were home during that morning?
In the event it is an unknown predator - the outcome looks very bleek.
This does not look good at all.
I am worried about this defenseless little girl.

I've been bothered by that 2 ft bear as well. Brianna was tiny but I can't imagine someone trying to carry a person and a 2 ft teddy through a glass door without making any noise and leaving no trace for the dogs to pick up. It just doesn't make sense.
Also, while watching one of the segments on Fox a couple of afternoons ago, it was mentioned that the girls waited to report Brianna missing. They apparently were thinking that she went upstairs to sleep and didn't check check right away.
So, we really don't know how long between the last time Brianna was heard from and it was reported. AND, if they were in the habit of leaving the front door unlocked, how do we know that someone wasn't already in the home waiting for them?

Thank you Grande for clearing up who was where. I feel it's safe to assume that something bad has occurred and Brianna would not intentionally not call her family.
Do you know if there has been an extensive search beyond the immediate area?
And one other note - the predator(s) in the immediate area has not abducted anyone, but seems to have assaulted and then fled. (*I think I have that correct*). This would seem to be a new MO for the previous predator(s) or possibly a new predator. There also seems to be a African American and possibly a Hispanic male. That would possibly indicate at least 2 separate predators, if I am not mistaken.
Are there any previous cases that have not been solved and could this predator be someone that strikes in intervals of years and not days, weeks, months?

Assault case at a standstill
By Staff Report
Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008
Last month a University of Nevada, Reno student was kidnapped and sexually assaulted after she was attacked on the 1400 block of N. Virginia Street Saturday morning about 3 a.m., university police said in a statement. The student was attacked from behind, choked until she was unconscious and then taken to an unknown location where she was sexually assaulted. No new information has been released as of Monday.
The suspect is described as a heavyset (There are conflicting reports on the alleged suspects weight. This article states he was heavy set and yet another claims he was thin ??) white male about 30 to 40 years old. He has some facial hair and was wearing a Raiders T-shirt. The suspect’s vehicle is a dark, single cab truck with cloth seats and an after-market CD player with blue and red lights. It is described as an older truck.
“The victim stated that her keys to her vehicle and residence were taken and that subject may have been prowling in the area days prior to this happening,” police said.
People who have information on the case can contact the Reno Police Department at 775-334-2115.

Hi KittyMom,
You know, I am reminded of the Meredith Karcher case in Italy. I think I have her name correct. Amanda Knox appears to be the prime suspect in that case and has tried to explain away her fingerprints on the knife in her jail house diaries.
So women who are roommates do sometimes kill. Not often, but it has happened. I also realize that Brianna was a guest and not a roommate.
I have a hard time wrapping my mind around that teddy bear being taken by the abductor. That just seems like unnecessary luggage to me. Brianna is the target - not the bear. It has to be evidence and must have more blood on it - in my opinion. And in the Madeleine McCann case the abductor did not take cuddle cat. So abductors do not care if a child has a favorite toy to comfort them. (I realize that some believe the McCanns have killed Maddy, I'm not one of them - so I am going by my own presumptions).
Also, we have Grande's posts about the text message at 4:23am(IIRC). That's the starting point. At what exact precise time was the call made to report Brianna missing? That's the end point for the crime even if the girls are not involved.
For example - if the crime occurred right after the last text message at 4:23am, and the call was not made to report Brianna missing until ???, that could leave a larger window to dispose of Brianna and to conceal the crime.
The pillow could have been inadvertently overlooked.
After-all, the bear was removed. Someone is trying to conceal something in my opinion.

5 hours is a lot of time. Anything could have happened in a window that large.
Earlier I heard that 100 registered offenders were being interviewed. That's a lot of offenders in the immediate area - as some have already noted.
Those 100 could / would be in addition to any new predators. I wonder if there will be any connection to the previous assault victims - even if they do not have anything to do with Brianna.
In a previous check in my own area we only have three registered. I have no idea what the norm is, but 100 + seems like a colossal amount. With that many diabolical minds - dangerous things happen. And it only takes one to destroy a community and a family.

Whoa Nice grab KittyMom,
Sports bars here sometimes allow the employees to wear their fav team jerseys.
And if you figure the bar may close around 2 am (they do here but no idea about Reno's liquor laws) and then factor in time for clean up - that could get you to 4 am.

I think you might be onto something :) That's a pretty big stuffed animal to take along with getting the victim out of the house and keep the victim from making any noise. And I'm sure a stranger didn't kill her in the house and then take her away! The friend's story doesn't make any sense either why she'd leave the front door unlocked "because people are coming in at all hours" ~ well, WHAT people???

KittyMom made that connection. Very observant!
So the person could have been watching the game earlier or working at a sports bar.
those are just some ideas...
and you're totally correct - who leaves the doors unlocked because people are coming and going? What is that house? a crack house?

Thanks also to KittyMom! :) About the unlocked door, I just don't get it. Don't college-age people pay attention to the news? Didn't these girls who live there know of the other assaults? That's assuming of course that things happened the way they've been reported in this case.

Aren't there all sorts of sports bars in Reno, like inside the casinos? Maybe he could've just been a fan there at one of them watching and betting on the game. Do we know where the Dec. 16th victim was that evening while the game was on tv?

I googled sports bars and that one popped up. The address jumped out at me. I'm thinking this guy has got to be very knowledgeable about the area. He can get in and out without being seen and knows where to hide to get his victims. Someone who works or lives in the area would know this. The fact that two attacks had guys with a Oakland team t-shirt just seems too much of a coincidence.

U.N.R. Student Says She Was Attacked and Sexually Assaulted
Posted: Dec 17, 2007 12:08 AM CST
Jen Jackson
Channel 2 News
Police say a U.N.R. student was walking alone Saturday morning when she was attacked and sexually assaulted..
That man who knocked her out is not yet caught.
The campus escorts have made the decision to work longer hours after this recent attack.
Instead of escorting until 1:00 am, they'll now go until 6:00 am for the rest of the semester.
Samantha Voorhees is a Sophomore and is on edge. She says, "It's a bigger city and things like this are bound to happen. I was kind of scared that is was so close to campus and it was a university student."
Students at U.N.R. were sent an e-mail Sunday morning alerting them of a kidnapping and sexual assault.
"There's another assault on campus and what is U.N.R. going do about it?" asks Trista Biggs, a Graduate student after reading the e-mail.
A female student reported she was walking alone, attacked from behind, choked to the point of blacking out and then sexually assaulted.
This happened 3:00 am Saturday morning in the 1400 block of North Virginia, thats across the street from campus.
Students tell us this is the second e-mail reporting an attack within about a month's time.
Now they're asking questions.
"Are they going to put out more patrols? Or are they going to put up more call boxes like they have at other universities I've attended? I just don't think it's very safe anymore." says Biggs.
Graduate student, Michelle Hayes says, "Make it a little more well lit. Have more cops around. I would just feel a lot safer because a lot of us have late classes."
Some students say there appears to be a spike in crime this semester.
This recent report prompted the Campus Escorts to give students rides five hours longer.
"Get a ride either from campus to off campus or off camput to on campus within a two mile radius." says Escort and student Phil Roen.
But not all students know about this free service which can take them to a friends dorm or to and from the library.
Those that use it say it's great.
Geneva Nichol is in her fourth year at U.N.R. and says, "They come before you even know it. Sometimes you're like, oh, it will take a while so I'll call right now, then they're there. It is really a good resource that students should take advantage of."
Here's a little advice from one of the escorts:
"Don't walk alone at night. If you're walking alone, talk on a cell phone or even appear to be talking on a cell phone so someone's less likely to approach you." says Roen.
"My mom told me before I came to college, don't ever walk alone at night and it's kind of stuck with me." says Sophomore, Marysa Falk.
The suspect is described as a white man, who's heavy set, 30 to 40 years old with some facial hair.
He was last seen wearing a Raiders t-shirt and driving a dark, single cab truck.
Reno police ask you to contact them if you know anything about what happened or who this man may be.
The University Police will escort a student 24 hours a day, students just have to call to set it up.

I thought it was pretty quick to take effect too, from what I've heard about other cases. All I've heard is she was texting her b/f around 4:30am. It seems such a weird time frame between that time and daylight for someone to abduct her, like she'd have to fall sound asleep almost immediately afterward. I'm hoping for more news today. :)

Detectives Have New DNA Information
Evidence obtained from the scene of Brianna Denison’s disappearance included DNA genetic samples. After analysis by the Washoe County Crime Lab, a positive link has been established between this case and a Kidnap and Sexual Assault case that occurred at a nearby residence on December 16, 2007 @ 2:05 a.m. The victim in the December case was also the victim of a recent (1/19/08) attempted burglary at her residence in the 1400 block of N. Virginia St. On November 13, 2007 shortly after 5:00 p.m., an unknown suspect sexually attacked a UNR student who was walking to her home in the neighborhood. That case is also being investigated as being possibly connected to those already mentioned.

http://www.kolotv.com/home/headlines/14469877.html
Suspect vehicle: Extended cab pick-up truck or SUV, dome light above the windshield, tall enough that it requires a step up to gain entry, floor-mounted console that was described as “fairly skinny” that opens in front, blue and red LED read-out on the radio, cloth seats, automatic transmission. There was a baby shoe on the front seat floor board. There were 8 ½” x 11” white pieces of paper with typing on the floor board of the front seat.
Suspect: White male, approximately 28 - 40 years, long face with a square chin, taller than 5’6” but not excessively so, very strong but not with a significantly muscular build, a belly that was described as not excessively large and firm but not flabby, an “innie” belly button, a light covering of hair on his arms, no jewelry or a watch, facial hair about a quarter to a half an inch long below his chin and was soft and not prickly as stubble normally is, unknown if he had a mustache, brown head hair of undetermined style, normal speech with no accent or regional dialect, no smoker’s breath, no alcohol, no bad breath, no cologne or after-shave.
Suspect clothing at the time of the Kidnap/Sexual assault: red (not maroon) short sleeve shirt described as being made of material similar in feel to a Fubu jersey-type shirt (silk/rayon/polyester type) with a medium blue-colored neckline, short printed (possibly embroidered) word on the upper left breast area, another shirt underneath with wrist-length sleeves, unknown color pants – regular length – not jeans. The pants reminded the victim of basketball pants as the material was smooth but they made no noise when he moved and they had an elastic waist band and no zipper.

From above link.
Case Summary and Other Details:
Brianna Denison was last accounted for at approximately 4:30 a.m., on Sunday, January 20, 2008. It is believed that the suspect encountered her sometime thereafter, at a time when most people were asleep. Because the suspect was out at an odd hour, he may have fabricated a story regarding his activities during the early morning hours of January 20, 2008. The suspect may be a resident of the neighborhood immediately west of the University of Nevada campus and/or may have intimate knowledge of the area. For reference, the three crimes in question occurred on the following dates and times: November 13, 2007 – 5:40 p.m., December 16, 2007 – 2:00 a.m., January 19, 2008 4:00 a.m., and January 20, 2008 – 4:30 a.m. Because of the nature of the crimes, please note that the information, e.g., height or weight descriptions, might not be completely accurate. Any information, no matter how seemingly insignificant, should be brought to our attention, including abrupt and noticeable changes in the behavior of a person that could be considered a suspect.
Genetic sampling (DNA) has been identified from the scene of Brianna’s disappearance and has been linked to the Kidnap/Sexual assault case as mentioned above. Additionally, the blood found on the pillow at the residence has been identified as belonging to Brianna. Her clothing at the time of her disappearance was described as a white tank top with pink angel wings with rhinestones on the back and word “Bindi” on the back. She was wearing pink sweats that had two distinctive brown stains on one leg.

I'm throwing this out there and maybe you guys know more about college sports than I do and can straighten out my thinking. I'm thinking that this may be someone who has to be up very early to help train team members. The early morning hours may not be when he gets off work but rather prior to his going into work. Also, the clothing...jersey/atheletic style shirt and pant. This is someone who knows the area. So, what sports are practicing at that time in the morning? The only thing throwing me is the color...I've googled UN wolfpacks and oakland raiders and I'm not seeing red jerseys.
One other thought...could I be totally wrong and this actually be hospital scrubs?

Maybe someone local to Reno area could identify another school that has those colors, like maybe high school and he's a coach? The victim described something like "basketball pants" and this would be basketball season in Dec. & now. Or it could be someone who goes to the gym to work out early in the morning, or at least that's what he tells his wife. It seems he has a small child!

What about Nov? What sport would be playing then? Also, if this is a trainer or coach, could he be responsible for more than one sport?

Basketball. But the time of the Dec. 16 incident (2:05am) kind of takes that out of the scenario, imo, making it less likely he was on his way to work or the gym. :0009:

"Our chances of capturing the suspect are exponentially increased now because of the DNA," Holladay said. "He probably lives in the area. It's still my hope that Brianna is alive, and we're expending every resource possible to get her back safely."
Holladay said the match between DNA samples obtained from the scenes of Denison's disappearance and the earlier assault allowed investigators to make a major breakthrough in the case.
He said the victim of the earlier case was interviewed again after the match was made and a more detailed description of the suspect was developed.

Good Evening And thanks to Kitty for PM'ing me and notifying me of today's developments.
I have a few minor observations - and I just glanced the info.
But there appears to be a small child's shoe spotted in the previous assault.
*possibly a father of a small child and husband and not a loner**could be angry about a change of life the new child has brought* (could be lack of money due to new child or hatred that he is a father and a husband).
*possibly currently unemployed and pretending to be leaving for work in the morning*
*8 1/2 x 11 paper could be instructions for a job site or a resume*
*possible foreman that assaults before work*
NEW DNA - I am thinking the assault vehicle "could" be a company vehicle and there could be DNA from several assault victims present.
Linked to a previous assault tells us all that there is a serial predator running amok and Reno has a problem. A big PROBLEM.

Don't we have another description of the SUV?
Possibly as an older model?
I'm thinking this guy could be in the construction field. And Nevada has had a huge building boom over the last ten years.
An SUV that you would step up into - is a larger, more expensive model generally. Crew Cabs cost even more.
I'm thinking maybe an F350 - or - Chevy 3500. But could be an F250 4X4.

"Idonas Hughes, a university administrator, said students need to be more vigilant now that police have information that the incident not isolated.
"Knowing this now students need to be ridiculously aware because ... now the threat is real," Hughes said."
Well, the threat was real before these assaults happened, and the front door of KT's should've been locked and had blinds on the windows. I also wonder what progress LE is making in interviewing the many SO who live nearby.

DNA samples have linked Brianna's kidnapping to at least two sexual assaults and abductions in the same neighborhood.
Police say on November 13th, a female UNR student was attacked while walking home. She fought back and escaped. One month later, another young woman was kidnapped and forced to perform oral sex.
Each assault took place somewhere in UNR neighborhood, and each victim was a petite, young student.

Hi Everyone -
I see there are no developments in Brianna's case the last few days. Well, none since the DNA match to the previous victim.
To me, and this is just speculation, but, it seems to me the perp has left the area. There doesn't seem to be any sighting(s) of the Brianna, the SUV / Pick-up Extended cab, or the missing teddy bear.
With everyone on the look out for this vehicle, it's hard to imagine that no one has seen a vehicle of that description. It's also hard to imagine he has "parked it" out of view of everyone. A vehicle that large is not generally going to fit in a standard size garage.
With the previous assaults in the immediate area and the LE saying they believe that he lives in the immediate area and no one coming forward (that we know of) leads me to believe he is on the run. Someone in the area must know who he is and has seen or been in that SUV / Pick-up Extended cab.
2 assaults in 2 days and then nothing - could be he is out of the area.
all just my opinion anyway.
Hope today brings a big break and Brianna is found.

IF this guy has no ties to the community a flight would probably be a likely scenario, on the other hand if he does have a family and an employer you would think his sudden departure would raise some suspicion from those people. Hi Ya Grande, my brother!!!
If he was employed in the area a boss would recognize the links that could tie him to the crimes. Vehicle, missing from work, perp description.
If he lives in the area he most likely be missing and a family member would certainly recognize that. Unless he is a loner in the area, it's hard to imagine no one knows him.
I have found that most people DO want to volunteer info if they have it and there seems to be a lack of info streaming in here.
It's also possible he comes into the area to assault and then flees back to his home turf. In this case, he is most likely familiar with the area through previous school or work but does not frequent the area except to commit his dastardly crimes.
With gas prices at 3+ dollars and having a vehicle as described, I would imagine he is not traveling too far to commit these crimes. The cost alone would be pretty high.
Even if it was a 100 mile round trip, it would probably run him -
100 miles
8 miles to the gallon
-------------
12.5 x 3 = $37.50 to commit the assault on one night.
2 assaults $75.00
-if he is not from the area-
Doesn't sound like it is economically feasible for a man that possibly has a small child (based on that shoe seen in the cab).
If he truly from the area and living in the area, he is concealing himself very very well. That takes help.
Even Andrew Cunanan was eventually seen and found in the house boat. It's hard to remain hidden forever. People need food and the basics of life.

AMW has now learned exclusive information about the woman involved in the prior attack. A source close to the investigation tells AMW that the assailant told the victim, a foreign student from Taiwan, that, "If you tell the police, I will kill you." Authorities say the 22-year-old was abducted outside her home on Dec. 16 when an unknown assailant grabbed her after she parked her car on the 1400 block of Terrace Drive.
According to police, the assailant grabbed the female from behind, forced her to the ground and attempted to choke her with her right arm. He then placed his right hand over her nose and mouth which caused her to pass out. When she began to regain consciousness, the suspect forced her into the front passenger seat. The suspect drove to a location 3 to 4 minutes away where he forced her to perform sexual acts. After the attack, he drove her back to her residence where he dumped her off and threatened "he might be back."

Is he missing? and is he missing because of an upcoming court date? or is he somehow linked to Brianna's case?

David Benjamin Creamer
From U.S. Marshals
Child Pornographer David Creamer Is On The Run: David Benjamin Creamer was charged with distribution of child pornography, transportation of obscene materials, firearms violations, money laundering and income tax evasion and has been wanted in the District of Arizona since December 1997 for violating the terms of his pretrial release.
Grossed Millions Distributing Child Pornography: Investigation of Creamer, 53, began in 1993, focusing on the sales and distribution of CD-ROMs containing child pornography, obscenity and bestiality. The president and founder of the distribution company was Creamer. Between 1992 and 1995, he produced more than 100,000 diskettes for worldwide distribution. His company grossed more than $2.3 million in sales from 1994-95.
Porn Proceeds Kept Creamer In Lavish Surroundings: In September 1995, a search warrant executed by the U.S. Customs Service, Internal Revenue Service and the Tucson (Ariz.) Police Department at an office and two airplane hangars leased by Creamer turned up many valuable items, allegedly purchased with the proceeds of his illegal business dealings.
Cessna Among Valuables Seized: Items seized included 70 firearms, 80,000 rounds of ammunition and $120,000 in U.S. currency. U.S. Customs Service also seized a Cessna aircraft, two automobiles, two trailers, a 19-foot Larson Runabout boat and seven acres of land in Pima County, AZ.
Released On Bond: In June 1997, a federal grand jury in Arizona indicted Creamer on 23 counts of criminal activity. He was arrested, arraigned and released on bond that same month. A trial date was set for March 1998, but he failed to report to Pretrial Services in December 1997. He has been on the lam since then.
Deputy Marshal Rick Lovelace Leads Investigation: "He'll probably assume a new life, doing what he has done before in another part of the country," said Supervisory Deputy Marshal Rick Lovelace, District of Arizona (Tucson sub-office). Lovelace leads the investigation to find Creamer.
Creamer's Physical Description: David Benjamin Creamer is a white male, height 5'10", weight 220 pounds. He has blue eyes and brown hair and a medium complexion. He has scars on his upper lip, right leg and left knee. Creamer often has a beard and mustache.
Cautions and Contact Information: Creamer is considered armed and dangerous. Do not attempt to apprehend this fugitive yourself. Report any information to the nearest USMS District Office or call the United States Marshals Service Headquarters at 1(800)336-0102 or in Tucson, AZ at 1(520)620-7030.

Just looking at him he doesn't look like the suspect described. And Creamer is too old to be the perp.
Maybe they just want him for unrelated existing charges.

I believe this is unrelated as far as I can tell.

That's what I'm thinking too. I'm sitting here wondering if that was somehow not formated correctly on the AMW page.
It kind of looks related where it says "running down leads".
Grande - feel free to delete those posts that are unrelated. TIA

I don't think he left the area. See if you guys see anything.

Results, HI
Maybe we should look back to see if there are any previous attacks that follow that pattern.
And the next attack (should it occur) could be to the right and only a block or two over from the Jan 20th attack involving Brianna.
