MODESTO, CA - Stanislaus County sheriff's detectives have issued an Amber Alert for a parental child abduction involving a Modesto woman and her son.

The missing child is Landon Delaney, last seen with his mother, Merisha Jackson, at a bus stop across from a Motel 6 on Orangeburg Avenue in Modesto on Saturday morning, July 18. Investigators believe the two stayed at the motel Friday night.

Jackson has legal custody with limited visitation rights, according to Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department spokesman Tom Beck. He said the boy's father in Los Angeles County, who has full custody, allowed Jackson to take the boy to Modesto's Mancini Park Friday evening. Beck said Jackson did not return the 4-year-old to his father as agreed and neither the mother nor boy have been seen since Saturday.

The missing boy is described as black and wearing a brown polo shirt and khaki shorts when last seen. There was no photo available.

Jackson, 31, is from Modesto. She is black, 5 feet - 6 inches tall and 115 pounds. She has red hair and brown eyes. The last time anyone saw her she was wearing a one-piece swimsuit with black and white shorts.

Investigators do not believe a vehicle was involved.

Sheriff's detectives say Jackson has a previous physical child abuse allegation against her out of Los Angeles County involving another child from the relationship with the missing boy's father.

Anyone with information about Delaney or Jackson is urged to call Det. Randall Watkins at (209) 525-7085 or (209) 525-7074. Callers can also leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636. Tipsters can also e-mail tips to Crime Stoppers or text them to CRIMES (274637) by typing "Tip704" plus the message and be eligible for a cash reward.

MODESTO, Calif.—A search is on for a Modesto woman and her 4-year-old girl after the two disappeared in what Stanislaus County authorities are terming a parental abduction.

Investigators say 31-year-old Merisha Jackson has legal custody with limited visitation rights to see her daughter, Landon Delaney.

After getting permission from the father to take the little girl to a park Friday night, authorities say the two never returned.

Witnesses told investigators they saw the mother and her daughter outside a motel near the park Saturday morning.

Stanislaus County authorities are checking with agencies in San Mateo and Los Angeles counties, where they say the mother has ties.

Boy. Girl. Boy. Great reporting.

Since her resources are limited (no vehicle), hopefully they will be found safe today.

Is that a picture of the missing child? Looks older than 4 to me.
If it's of the mother... looks younger than 31.

Hope this story gets worked out and the child is found safe.

Modesto woman alleged to have abducted son could be in Half Moon Bay area

Investigators looking for a Modesto woman they say abducted her 4-year-old son have determined she bought a train ticket to San Francisco, with a CalTrain connection to Half Moon Bay.

Merisha Jackson, 31, and her son, Landon Delaney, were last seen boarding an Amtrak train about 5 p.m. Saturday.

Jackson, who has limited visitation rights with her three children, took Landon to Mancini Park with his father’s permission Friday night. Landon’s father lives in Los Angeles County with the couple’s three sons — a 7-year-old and 9-year-old are safe with him, investigators said.

Jackson didn’t return the boy as scheduled. Detectives believe the two spent Friday night at the Motel 6 at Orangeburg and Briggsmore avenues.

Investigators said Jackson has a prior child abuse allegation involving another child.

Jackson is described as black, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 115 pounds and was last seen wearing a one-piece bathing suit and black and white shorts. Authorities said she has ties to San Mateo and Los Angeles counties. Investigators have not found any ties to Half Moon Bay.

Landon is described as black, wearing khaki shorts and a brown polo shirt.

Detectives issued a limited-notification Amber Alert because there was no vehicle involved.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the case to call Detective Randall Watkins at 525-7085 or 525-7074. Callers can leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 521-4636. Tipsters can e-mail tips at www. modestopolice.com/CrimeStoppers, or text them to CRIMES (274637) by typing “Tip704” and a message.

I hope it's a matter of time before she calls her ex to come pick up the baby. You have to have money to stay on the run and I would hope any family would call LE if she shows up at their house.

Landon DeLaney's father, who lives in Los Angeles, reported him missing after Jackson failed to return from a court-ordered visit Friday afternoon, authorities have said.
