Stillwater police issue Amber Alert

STILLWATER -- Police have issued an Amber Alert for a child reportedly taken from her house, said Capt. Randy Dickerson, police spokesman.

The missing girl is Mycah Michelle James. She is 5 feet tall and weighs about 115 pounds, according to an Amber Alert request from Stillwater police. She was wearing blue and white shorts and a black "Nightmare Before Christmas" T-shirt.

Authorities are looking for an older model red two-door car with rust and flaking paint driven by a white male about 35-years-old, an Oklahoma Highway Patrol bulletin states. The man has a thin build and short, brown hair. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police said the man picked her up and carried her over his shoulder then placed her in the back of the car with the child screaming and crying as he drove away.

Dickerson said the apparent abduction took place on the southwest side of Stillwater but there are conflicting reports of where the abduction happened. Scanner traffic earlier indicated she had been on a school playground but a bulletin from law officers states she was abducted from a residence.

Police are searching for 12-year-old girl and a man accused of taking her this morning in Stillwater.

Mycah Michelle James was abducted at home on the 1700 block of west 22nd Street about 11:15 a.m.

The girl is described as about four feet tall and 100 pounds with brown eyes and brown curly hair. She was last seen wearing a black and white Nightmare Before Christmas T-shirt and blue and white shorts, police Capt. Randy Dickerson said.

Police described the suspect as a white male in his 30s, thin with short brown hair. He was dressed in a blue T-shirt and blue jeans and is said to have driven off with the girl in a rusted red two-door box-top car with paint peeling.

Dickerson said the girl’s 10-year-old sister had seen the girl talking to a man, who then put the girl in the back seat of his car and drove off. The sister called police about 11:15 a.m. The abduction was on the 1700 block of west 22nd Street, near Walnut Street.

All available detectives and officers are looking for the girl and treating it as a legitimate stranger abduction, Dickerson said.

Police say Mycah Michelle James was last seen at a house in Stillwater, wearing a black and white "Night before Christmas" t-shirt with blue and white shorts.

She's light complected with reddish-brown curly hair. She's about four feet tall and weighs about a hundred pounds.

Stillwater Police believe the suspect put her in an older model, red, rusty two-door car.

It doesn't say if that is "the" car.

Amber Alert update: community joins search for abducted girl

Update: Stillwater police have identified the victim of this morning's abduction as 12-year-old Mycah Michelle James. She was snatched off the street at her home, located in the 1700 block of west 22nd Street. Friends and family are joining in the search in this usually-quiet, family-friendly town.

The suspect is described as a white male about the age of 35, thin with short brown hair. He was dressed in a blue T-shirt and blue jeans and is said to have driven off with the girl in a rusted red two-door box-top car with paint peeling.

The girl is described as about four feet tall with brown eyes and reddish-brown curly hair. She was last seen wearing a black and white Nightmare Before Christmas T-shirt and blue and white shorts.

Mycah's 10-year old sister said that some man they didn't know grabbed her older sister, put her in his truck and drove away. The terrified younger girl called 911.

It isn't yet known if the man was armed. Stillwater police ask that you do not attempt to make contact with this individual, but instead contact them at:

Stillwater officers issued an Amber Alert at about noon.

Police said a sibling of the girl told officers that a man put the girl into a rusted red two-door car. However, officers said that the 12-year-old runaway had coerced her 8-year-old sister to concoct the story.

The girl is 4 feet tall and weighs about 100 pounds. She has short, curly reddish-brown hair with brown eyes. She was wearing blue and white shorts and a black and white "Nightmare Before Christmas" T-shirt.

Missing Girl Found

A 12-year-old girl police say ran away from her Stillwater home earlier today, has been found safe in Oklahoma City. Stillwater police say she was located around 5:30pm, and is with officers in Oklahoma City, waiting on her mother to pick her up.

Police initially issued an Amber Alert, after they say the girl told her younger sister to fabricate an abduction story. That Amber Alert was cancelled.

12 years old and she coerced her 8 yr old sis to say she was abducted so she could leave w/an older man.....Thank God she's o.k. but it could have been so much worse. I wish the children of today didn't have that "it can't happen to me" attitude. I think schools should have a course on abductions and show pictures of their peers after they have been brutilized and killed. I might be the eyeopener they need.
