Renton police are searching for a 57-year-old man who went missing Tuesday after his wife dropped him off to catch a bus.

James R. Bertalotto, who suffers from dementia, lives at the Benson Heights retirement facility in Kent. He was last seen by his wife at 7 p.m. outside the Sherri's restaurant at 1820 Maple Valley Highway in Renton after she dropped him off so he could catch a bus back to Benson Heights.

According to police, Bertalotto suffers from dementia and other physical ailments that require medication. Without his medications, he becomes confused and depressed, police said in a news release.

Bertalotto has gone missing in the past, police said.

He is described as a white man, six feet tall and approximately 280 pounds. He was last seen wearing gray sweat pants and a mint green T-shirt.

Anyone with any information on Bertalotto's whereabouts is asked to call 911 or contact the Renton Police directly at 425-430-7500.

O.K., why do some people "drop off" their loved ones knowing they can become disoriented due to dementia/alzheimers? No matter what stage they are in. Also, knowing they have other problems that require mediciene? I just don't get it and then when they come up missing they don't understand. I just don't get it?
Praying Mr. Bertalotto is safe somewhere and calls home or seeks help.

There should be laws passed and people held accountable. Essentially, these older people are like children and you HAVE to watch your child. Just because they are adults physically, its whats inside the head that counts. Again, I pray James is found and that he's not left to his own again w/out supervision.
God Bless!

Thank you Lord. Another happy ending! We need more of these, especially with our children.
