COLUMBIA — The Boone County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a missing 52-year-old Columbia man.

Mark Durrant was last seen at 10 p.m. Monday at the Maplewood Barn Theater in Columbia, according to a news release. Durrant is diabetic and wears an insulin pump. The department does not suspect foul play.

The department said Durrant might be driving a silver 2008 Toyota Rav4 with a Missouri license plate KD2M9D, according to the release. The department asks that anyone who might have seen Durrant contact it by calling 875-1111.

Man missing, deputies fear for his well being

OONE COUNTY -- The Boone County Sheriff's Department is looking for a man missing for more than 24 hours. He's not a suspect, but deputies fear for his well-being.

Mark Durrant, 52, was last seen leaving the Maplewood Barn Theater in Columbia around 10 p.m. Monday night. Durrant wears an insulin pump that looks like a pager.

He could be driving a silver 2008 Toyota Rav-4 with the Missouri license plate KD2-M9D.

Missing Man's Car Found

BOONE COUNTY - Boone County sherriffs say they have found the car belonging to the missing diabetic man who has not been seen since Monday night.

The 52-year old, Mark Durrant disappeared Monday after leaving the Maplewood Barn Theatre. The car crashed into a pond off Wehmeyer Road in West Boone County.

Family members and deputies are on the scene, and KOMU will have more information as it becomes available.

Update: Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 at 6:30 p.m.

The Fire Department has confirmed that Mark Durrant was found dead in his Toyota Rav 4 at a western Boone County pond under eight feet of water.

The Fire Department says tracks show that the car left the road way and traveled through a field and into the pond.

Mark battled Type I diabetes bravely for many years. He fought hard, always employing the latest technology in his attempts to avoid complications of the disease. However, diabetes finally took his life suddenly when a severe hypoglycemic episode led to his accidental death.
