Volusia County sheriff's deputies were still searching for a missing Deltona man Monday, prompting the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to issue a statewide Silver Alert.

Alfonso Milian, 82, who is suffering from the beginning stages of Alzheimer's disease, was reported missing Friday by his son, who told deputies he had not seen his father since Wednesday.

Deputies believe Milian left in a white Jeep Cherokee with tag K423SF. Milian's son said this father has been missing on previous occasions only to be found in Marion County and Osceola County. Milian generally gets lost and cannot find his way home, deputies said.

An elderly DeLand woman suffering from Alzheimer's disease and missing for three days after walking away from her home was found dehydrated but alert Sunday in woods not far from her home.

Milian is 5-foot-9 and weighs about 180 pounds. He has brown eyes and white hair. Anyone who spots him or has information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 386-736-5999.

Authorities find vehicle owned by missing Deltona man

Authorities this morning said they have found a vehicle owned by a missing 82-year-old man from Deltona.

Alfonso Milian's unoccupied white 1996 Jeep Cherokee was found this morning along the side of County Road 200 in Flagler County, according to a news release from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Volusia officials are coordinating with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office for a ground search of the area for Milian.

"County Road 200 branches off westbound from US Highway 1 and is a heavily wooded area,'' the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

On Monday, investigators announced they were contacting hospitals and taking other steps in their search. They disclosed Monday that there has been no activity on Alfonso Milian's credit-card account.

A statewide "Silver Alert" has been issued for the missing man.

He is 5-feet-9, weighs about 180 pounds and has brown eyes and white hair.

Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator A.J. Pagliari at 386-860-7030.

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. -- The desperate search for a missing Deltona man did not turn out how deputies hoped Tuesday.

Alfonso Milian, 82, was last seen on Friday. K-9 search teams joined the search team in a hurried effort to find Alfonso Milian.

There was no sign of Milian until a report came in that his white Jeep Cherokee was on an old dirt road in Flagler County. Searchers found the Jeep in the woods in Tuesday and, shortly after the vehicle was found, crews discovered Milian's body.

"Well it's been there since Thursday or Friday," resident Ralph Lamassa said of the vehicle.

"You first noticed it Thursday or Friday?" WFTV reporter Jason Allen asked.

"Yeah, me and my neighbor across the street," he replied.

Lamassa called sheriff deputies Tuesday after seeing a picture of the jeep on TV. He said no one thought to call earlier, because hunters often use the road and park for long periods of time.

More than 30 people started a grid search of thick woods, with few hard-packed trails and large amounts of swamp land. Investigators were encouraged after finding some traces of clothing, but they got the call Milian's body was found less than 200 feet off the road in thick brush.

Investigators said it appeared Milian's truck had run out of gas and he had been in the woods since Wednesday. Milian suffered from Alzheimer's disease and he had been lost before, in both Marion and Osceola counties.
