Danielle – 14 Dorothy - 47 Disappeared Sunday, May 23, 1993,
while walking from their home to a local store in Sunizona, Arizona.
The Pitcher family, friends and a group of volunteers last visited and spoke out to the Citizens, Police and the Media in and around Sunizona, and Cochise County, Arizona, May 2001. At that time, Missingpitchers joined forces with Dawnnie Consultants as we copied the route Danielle and Dorothy Pitcher were last seen walking when they disappeared. We handed out fliers, held up signs for all passing motorists, printed up and wore T-shirts, necklaces, magnets and pamphlets with information regarding the case of Danielle and Dorothy Pitcher. We conducted Physical searches in areas of interest in the high desert of Arizona hoping to find a clue, any clue. Although it did not produce their where-abouts, we are still working on several other leads that could lead to some closure for the Pitcher Family.
We talked to anyone that would listen! And we are confident that Someone Knows Something and they just need a friendly nudge to speak up! We do yearly mass mailings to citizens, businesses, and prison facilities. We are still active in trying to continue to get the word out in hopes of finding Danielle and Dorothy!

16 years ago, a woman and her daughter vanished after walking to a convenience store in Sunizona, AZ. Today the Cochise County cold case unit may have found a lead which could bring closure to the case.
Back in 1993, 47-year-old Dorothy Pitcher and her 14-year-old daughter Danielle were walking to the A&M Market in Sunizona, AZ. Yet, they never returned from that trip. The pair hasn't been seen or heard of since May 23, 1993.
For a long time the search went cold until recently an investigator with the Cochise County cold case unit reviewed the case.
This week, a tip led deputies to a dusty plot of land just north of Elfrida. For three days it was crawling with activity as authorities looked for clues to the long-unsolved case.
Ruth Williams lives down the road. She says, "There were sheriff's vehicles parked inside the fence all the way up there. I guess deputies walking the fence line and they moved the mobile homes that were parked over in here and just under them."
A house that once stood on the property was leveled to a pile of rubble during the search for any clues which might yield information.
Cochise County sheriff's officials say specialists from the University of Arizona, including a forensic anthropologist, assisted in the search using sub-surface imaging equipment.
"We found items of evidence that may or may not be connected with the pitcher case. Investigators will be going through the items to better determine that," says Cochise County Sheriff's spokeswoman Carol Capas.
For 16 years, Dorothy's other daughter Dawn Pitcher has never given up hope. Even though she left this area years ago, she knows the answers are hidden somewhere in Arizona.
"I want my brothers and sisters to be able to know exactly what happened and have closure in their heart and begin the healing process," says Dawn.
Dawn says she is pleased the Cochise County sheriff's cold case unit is actively investigating.
"In our hearts we know they are gone. And we've come to grips with that. We just want to know what happened and now we're finally getting to that point," says Dawn.
If you have any information, you can call the Cochise County Sheriff's department at 1-800-362-0812.

Dawn’s Story and Web Page
http://www.missingpitchers.com/mp/dawn_files/image004.jpg
My name is Dawn Pitcher and I am writing this because I am in need of your help.
On May 23, 2002, my mother (Dorothy Pitcher) and sister (Danielle Pitcher) have been missing for 9 yrs, and are now presumed dead. I am willing to accept that fact, but not without proof and bringing them home and laying them to rest as they should be. Then finding out what has happened to them!
My family is a large one and we don’t have much money. I believe if we had money we might have gotten more assistance with the local law enforcement and media.
I have a very strong feeling that since it has been 9 years; that someone out there has information on the disappearances of my mom and sister and are ready to talk. I need to make sure the right buttons are pushed and you can help me do this.
My family needs closure
After about 5 years working on the case solo, I came across Connie Smierciak or should I say she came across me, and who is now my co-partner. She has helped me out of the kindness of her heart not asking for anything but to help bring peace.
My co-partner and I have been investigating this case since. We have conducted phone interviews, made a web page, made posters, and roadside billboard type signs, formed a "walk for justice " and I have done talk shows about missing persons. We have done searches through the desert, mines and mountains. We have even followed up on every rumor we’ve heard and still no sign. We may be getting tired, but we wont give up.
We have had countless meetings with the police out there, but it's hard for them to help when there is such a high turn over in the police department. Since the beginning of the case, we have had over 8 detectives in charge and at some point, no one has had the case. When they have a chance to look at it, it moves to someone else making it hard for anyone to get familiarized, and making it very frustrating on us.
Any extra money is spent on the case, any extra time is spent on this case, and we are running out of both, but we will never quit.
So please if there is anything you can do to help us in our search for my mom and sister, anything, please notify me immediately!

Search Warrant Served In Cold Case
Published/Last Modified on Thursday, August 20, 2009 5:03 PM MDT
New evidence concering persons missing since 1993 was discovered on property in Elfrida today. On Monday August 17, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on a property in the area of North Moore Road in Elfrida in connection to a missing persons cold case from 1993. The original incident reported to the Sheriff’s Office on May 23, 1993 was that 47 year old Dorothy Pitcher and her 14 year old daughter Danielle Pitcher left their house on Ash Creek Road and Highway 181 at approximately 1:00 pm to walk to the A&M Market in Sunizona and never returned. The search of the immediate area was ongoing for several months with various leads being followed and the investigation remains open.
A Cold Case Investigator with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office began a review of the case earlier this year and revisited old leads which led to new ones being generated. As a result of these leads, a search warrant was obtained and served on the property described above. As part of the warrant requirements a period of three days was allocated to conduct a search of the property, buildings, and excavation of the land. In order to most efficiently accomplish the excavation portion of the warrant, Dr. Bruce Anderson, Forensic Anthropologist and Professor Ben Sternberg, Geologic Engineering Department and Lab for Advanced Subsurface Imaging both of the University of Arizona were called to assist. With both University experts and approximately ten volunteer students, along with Cochise County Sheriff’s Deputies, Sheriff’s Detectives, Search and Rescue volunteers, and Sheriff’s Assist Team members, a search was conducted and covered a significant area.
As a result of this search warrant, items of evidence were located and the investigation continues to move forward with additional leads being followed.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with any knowledge or information in this case to call 1-800-362-0812. All information will remain confidential.
