When Marie Lupe Cooley, 41, of Jacksonville, Fla., saw a help-wanted ad in the newspaper for a position that looked suspiciously like her current job — and with her boss's phone number listed — she assumed she was about to be fired.

So, police say, she went to the architectural office where she works late Sunday night and erased 7 years' worth of drawings and blueprints, estimated to be worth $2.5 million.

As for the job, Cooley originally wasn't in danger of losing it. The ad was for Hutchins' wife's company.

Talk about flying off the handle. :a1chic:

I'll predict she'll see another ad next week that will sound like her job ... and will be. :022:

I believe your prediction will happen if it hasn't already.

Good heavens, this employee has some major issues. Glad she didn't harm anyone at the job instead of deleting all those files. :a1chic:

Sure hope there will be some jail time and a hefty fine! Oh, and she needs a serious mental evaluation. Maybe an anger management class.

She was definitely fired. She needs anger management sessions and drugs for mood swings and stupidity. She could also go to prison for the loss caused to the company. Now that might give her some quiet time to sit and think about what she has done.

Seriously, if she can do something like this, can you imagine what she might do to an innocent person?

Rather see her deleting files ,as to going postal.

Going postal may be her next step if she isn't required to get mental help. What she did is not normal.

I'm thinking that she didn't "suddenly" do this. I'll bet she had a history of problem behavior.

This is why businesses should have there data backed up and not just at the office. I'm guessing it was not a huge firm, but big enough. If I read correctly, only she and the boss had the ability to delete the data.
