Alaska State Troopers are looking for a 16-year-old boy who escaped from the Fairbanks Youth Facility and who they say may be in danger.
Kyler Dean Bond of Wasilla and two other teenagers walked away from their keepers on Jan. 7 while participating in a program outside the youth facility, a trooper report stated.
The two others have been found, the report stated. Bond is believed to be headed to Wasilla, where he has relatives.
Bond is about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs about 170 pounds. He has green eyes, brown hair and a medium build. He may be wearing glasses, and he was last seen wearing a bright blue down jacket, a black long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans, according to troopers.
Bond was last seen on Jan. 7 at the University of Alaska Fairbanks U-Park Building on University Avenue.
Troopers are asking anyone with information about Bond’s whereabouts to call 745-2131 or 451-5100.
Well, this one is a little different.

"Walked away from their keepers" sounded like they were in a zoo.

Any update on this?
I found THIS>....... He's been gone almost 3 weeks, reported missing Jan 7.
"Troopers think Bond may be headed to Wasilla, where he has family. He was last seen on Jan. 7 at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Tanana Valley Campus."

By the way, the distance from Fairbanks to Wasilla is about 315 miles!!!!

I stumbled across the articles posted. It doesn't seem like anyone is really looking for this kid. Pretty scary. How is he going to travel over 300 miles? I'm guessing hitch-hike, which is soooooo dangerous.

I agree, KM, and for the simple reason that the place he's heading is so far away, as JG posted, they should put out a BOLO. He might have walked away on his own to begin with, but who knows what happened after that?

Is he a walk away or society's throw away...
How sad...

PALMER - Alaska State Troopers this morning located Kyler Bond, the 16-year old who escaped from a program Jan. 7 at a Fairbanks youth facility, according to trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters.
Bond, of Wasilla, was picked up in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, but few other details were immediately available, Peters said.
Troopers sought public assistance finding Bond after he and two other teenagers walked away from the program outside the facility.
The two others were arrested shortly after the incident but Bond eluded authorities, who believed he would head for Wasilla, where he has family.
He was last seen at the University of Alaska Fairbanks' Tanana Valley Campus on University Avenue.

Thank goodness. I'm sure he wasn't happy about going back to the youth center but he's certainly safer there than out on the street.
