Federal prosecutors presented letters from Wesley Snipes in which the actor declares himself "a nonresident alien" of the United States and faults the IRS for efforts to "terrorize, enslave, rape or pillage" taxpayers during his tax evasion trial in Florida, according to a report in the Ocala Star-Banner.

The letters reportedly Dec. 4, 2006 letter was sent by the 'Blade' star in response to his indictment that same year. He also stated delivered a stern warning to federal employees against his continued prosecution, according to the report.

"Warning - pursuit of such a high profile target will open the door for your increased collateral risk," Snipes wrote in the letter reported on by the Star-Banner. "I certainly don't believe this is in your best interest."

 Wow...sounds like a threat to me.

"a nonresident alien" Well answer me this, where does he live?

I thought he said his home was Ocala, FL but maybe I misunderstood.

Why was that dingdong running around trying to use a fake South African passport when he had a valid US one? Remember that? He was in South Africa and rather than just using his US passport he tried to use the fake one.

Well if he lives in Ocala, FL how does he figure he's "a nonresident alien"?

If the government handles the case well, he'll be in prison for awhile and can think about his arrogance and stupidity. His movies aren't "all that" anyway.

You don't fool with the I.R.S., regardless of who you are or think you are.

That really does sound like a threat. The Infernal Revenue Service is not the department to threaten.

I don't understand. He was born in Orlando, Florida (according to numerous web sites) and possesses a valid U.S. passport. Is he giving up his U.S. citizenship? Does he have a "green card"? If he's not a citizen what's he doing in this country? Deport him and stop his working in this country.

He's a nut.

That pretty much sums it up, and coincidently was exactly what I was thinking right before I read your post.

I don't like paying taxes, but I'd never mess with the IRS. It's not worth the hassle.

The final prosecution witness, Internal Revenue Service agent Steward Stich, showed Friday that the actor earned almost $38 million in the years he failed to file federal income tax returns, 1999 to 2004.

Co-defendants Eddie Ray Kahn, founder of the tax protest groups American Rights Litigators and Guiding Light of God Ministries, and Douglas P. Rosile, who allegedly prepared Snipes' false documents, face up to 10 years.

The celebrity witnesses who could take the stand include Sylvester Stallone, Muhammad Ali, Spike Lee and Tom Brokaw. All were former clients of the New York-based Starr and Co. that handled Snipes' taxes before the actor met his co-defendants.

Anyone speculating on what the result could have been if he had chosen offer to work out paying the back taxes?

Think the IRS would have still taken him to trial?

No. If he had worked it out, he would not be wasting everyone's time in a trial. I know someone who owed back taxes. He worked it out with the government and paid it off in 5 yrs. If this guy thinks he's gonna skate, he might want to make a deal now. The IRS will make his life hell as long as he lives in the U.S. after this mess & his BS.

Did you see what they estimated he made during the time questioned...38 million dollars. What, did he blow it all on lottery tickets? :waitasec::duh:

Thanks for the reply Texas53. I wonder if they worked out things like back tax and fraud charges outside of prison time.

Yes, I've heard they can make life hell forever.

So he's going to have other celebrities take the stand to say they were given bad advice from this place as well?

In other words let's pass the buck and blame it on bad advice. They advised him to not file a return. Yeh right.

Actor Wesley Snipes cleared of tax fraud, convicted of failing to file return

Now if that had been me or Mr/Ms Average America trying to get away with tax fraud, we would already be sitting in prison on those charges! He can still be jailed for not filing a tax return though.
