To the Friends and Families that Have supported Stacy,
As you know, the 2 year anniversary of Stacy is approaching quickly and will be a sad day for all of us. In the midst of everything going on, we still hope everyday for that piece of information that will break her case wide open. Stacy's case aside, it is very sad that people have made decisions that have put a tasteless view on the whole situation.
The Friends of Stacy Peterson is the only group officially organized by her family to make decisions regarding any funds. The friends of Stacy Peterson is the only group that holds a bank account for any funds that have been raised.
Currently there is an on going investigation that is looking into the misuse and disappearance of funds that have been raised in Stacy's name with the Bolingbrook Police Department. Because of this, we are not standing behind anyone or any group that intends to raise any type of funds in Stacy's name or honor.
We do however appreciate and accept any events that strictly raise awareness in her name. We will pursue by our attorney anyone who continues to do so in her name until the investigation is completed. We hope that anyone out there will use their judgment before you donate any funds, as The Friends of Stacy Peterson is only trying to raise awareness at this point in time.
Best Wishes, The Friends of Stacy Peterson

Sometimes it seems like it has been even longer. I'm sure it does to her family. I hope she is found one day soon and that justice is served to the guilty.

We have to find a way to identify what it is in some males that makes them think they have the right to beat, torture, and kill women. I pray for Stacy and for her family for the pain they have been going through.
As for the missused funds....there are always crooks lurking for an opportunity to cheat others out of their money. Thirty years ago my 17 yr. old cousin was battling leukemia. He was quite popular in the community ( football star, etc). Well meaning people had fund raisers to help him & his parents. One group showed up and wanted to throw a variety show at the high school with (has been) musicians, etc. Everybody (including me) bought tickets. You guessed it...that group left town with the money and the family got a pittance. Lesson learned.

Nearly two years after Stacy Peterson of Bolingbrook was last seen alive, a group will march in her name to raise money for a battered women's shelter.
"It's kind of a way to remember Stacy and get the word out" about the Groundwork battered women's shelter, said Stephanie Kreidler, who organized The Angels For Stacy/Peace4 the Missing team entry for the Oct. 24 Angels Against Abuse 5K Walk.
The walk will raise money for the shelter, which operates under the auspices of Joliet's Guardian Angel Home and has been stripped of funds in these hard times.
"This is going to be our first walk (but) we hope to do it continually" in coming years, said Shirley Reilly, a social worker and community advocate for Groundwork.
The event was scheduled to coincide with Domestic Violence Month and happened to fall just days before the anniversary of Stacy Peterson's disappearance.
State police believe Peterson may be the victim of foul play. They have named Peterson's husband, former Bolingbrook policeman Drew Peterson, a suspect in his wife's disappearance.
The walk will also help publicize Groundwork, said Kreidler, who wishes Stacy Peterson knew what the shelter offers before she disappeared.
"If somebody brought this to her attention, she could have been saved," Kreidler speculated.
Peterson has not been charged with abusing Stacy.
Those wishing to participate in the walk can register in advance on the Groundwork Web site at www.event.org/angelsagainstabuse . Donations can also be made through the Web site.
The Oct. 24 event will be at the Crumby Recreation Area in Hammel Woods in Shorewood. Check-in and on-site registration is at 8 a.m., and the walk steps off at 9 a.m.
Kreidler repeated that she hopes the walk will increase awareness while helping Groundwork financially.
"Just to get their name out there," she said. "Just so if there's someone else out there in her shoes, they know where to get help."
