New details released in Haleigh Cummings case
Last Update: 7:13 pm 9/22/09
PALATKA, Fla. – Detectives involved with the Haleigh Cummings investigation have been tight lipped about any details involving the case. On Tuesday, for the first time, they released the details of an interview conducted with Hank Croslin Jr., Misty Cummings brother. They say he told them he went by Haleigh Cummings’ home the night she disappeared, and no one was there.
This is different from the story Misty Cummings has told police. She has said time and time again that she was home the entire evening on the night Haleigh disappeared.
“What she’s told us is a farce…and the idea that she was doing what she says she was doing and how she was doing it is just not believable…it’s totally unbelievable in fact,” said Major Gary Bowling of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
Hank Croslin Jr. is already in jail on an unrelated grand theft charge. On Thursday, he was interviewed by police in regards to the Haleigh Cummings investigation. He told officers on the night Haleigh disappeared, he received a call from Haleigh’s father Ronald Cummings.
“In the interview, Hank tells us something very interesting. Which is that Ronald had attempted, the night of the ninth, the evening before Haleigh went missing, that Ronald had made several calls to Misty that went unanswered. So Ronald ultimately calls her brother Hank, better known as Tommy, asking Tommy to go down the street to the residence to see if he can make contact with Misty. Hank says he does, around 9:45 or 10 o’clock, go down the street and he says when he gets there the lights are off in the trailer, he says it’s dark, and quite,” said Major Bowling.
Bowling went on to say that Hank Jr. showed him how hard he banged on the door, and told them he stayed in the area for awhile waiting for Misty to either answer the door or come home. Hank Jr. says after some time passed, he gave up and assumed she wasn’t home.
“We believe that releasing some of the information we’ve found out advances the investigation. And particularly the way that we think this will advance it is that Misty’s family now knows about this information that I’m telling you now about Hank. We hope that the family or maybe Misty by her own conscience, if there is a discrepancy, that if she was indeed not home or she wants to explain why Hank banged on the door, with no response we want to hear Misty’s side of that,” said Major Bowling.
Major Bowling went on to say that on the Saturday following the interview with Hank Jr., Misty voluntarily came into the Sheriff’s Office for questioning. But, he says she did not talk discuss Hank Jr.’s interview.
“Misty is the type that if you ask her a question that she doesn’t want to answer, she reminds us she has a lawyer,” said Bowling.
Action News spoke with Misty’s lawyer on Tuesday. Robert Fields tells us Misty is out of town and will be for the next few days. He says Misty is sticking to her story that she was home the night Haleigh disappeared. He also says he believes the story Hank Jr. is telling deputies is not true. Fields says as soon as the Sheriff’s Office contacts him to do a formal interview with Misty, he will be glad to consider it.
“We’ve said for some time now, quite unapologetically, that we think that Misty has some information that she needs to tell us, and it’s information like this just like this that she needs to clarify so we can understand better what she was doing that evening. If Misty, who is represented by attorney Robert Fields, if they want to come down here, we would love to ask her some questions specifically and narrowly about that evening,” said Major Bowling.
Major Bowling also talked about Misty’s cell phone. Action News asked him if he could use GPS technology to track down exactly where Misty was the night Haleigh disappeared. Major Bowling wouldn’t go into details, but says they are investigating those facts.
“There are some things we can do with electronics, and there were some problems with the electronics…that’s about as far as I can go into that…there’s some things we’re still working on trying to get cleared up in regards to electronic intelligence,” said Major Bowling.
Action News asked the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office about possible charges it might file against Misty if it turns out that she was lying about where she was the night Haleigh disappeared. The Sheriff’s Office said it wasn’t at that point yet.
“We haven’t arrived at a place that will allow us to articulate probable cause for arrest yet…the issue is that---we have a lot of little things, but really coming to the point where we can in good faith go to a judge and seek a warrant or simply make a probably cause arrest, we’re simply not there,” said Major Bowling.

EXCLUSIVE: "Joe" Mentioned in Nay Nay's Jail Letter Identified
9/23/09
TJ Hart
The man whose name was difficult to read in the letter Kristina Rene "Nay Nay" Prevatt sent to her boyfriend from jail regarding questioning she received a few days ago about the disappearance of missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cumming of Satsuma, FL., has been identified Joseph Franklin Pytko.
An earlier attempt to decipher his name had it as a street name "Joe Psycho."
It has been confirmed by souces close to the investigation tht Pytko is the man who signed a sworn affidavit stating Prevatt, a party gal pal of the missing child's stepmom Misty Croslin-Cummings, was at a party with Misty, Greg Page (a man the Misty just had a weekend of sex and drugs with before the child vanished) and the children Haleigh and Junior.
In his sworn statement--according to Prevatt's jail letter, Pytko said:
"Haleigh ingested oxycontin pills and died. Everybody freaked out and White Boy Greg (Greg Page) put Haleigh in a black bag and dumped her in a pond at the Mondex"

We do not have the letter written by Joe Pytko- but the PCSO confirmed the letter existed.
PCSO says the Haleigh information regarding the pond did not come from the questioning of Hank Croslin Jr or his wife. But sources close to the investigation told 97.3 The Sky the information came from the interviews of several other people and parts of a letter from an jail inmate in another state.

Nation-Wide Pickup Warrant Out For Haleigh's Step G'Ma, Step Uncle Bonds Out
TJ Hart
Putnam County officials have a nation-wide pickup warrant out for Lisa Croslin, the step grandmother of missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings of Satsuma, FL who hase been missing since February.
Authorities with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office tell 97.3 The Sky Lisa Croslin is wanted on a count of forgery. The bond is $10,504.00. It has a nation-wide pick up. If she doesn't bond in TN, then she will be extradited to Putnam County.
Lisa Croslin recenty told several radio, tv and print news organizations she doubted her daughter Misty Croslin-Cummings was home when 6-year old Haleigh vanished from the trailer Misty shared with the child's father, Ronald Cummings.
In fact, Lisa Croslin reportedly backed up a claim made by her son who just bonded out of the Putnam County on an unrelated theft of a gun charge. Her son--and Misty's brother-- Hank Thomas Croslin Jr. stated he went to Rona and Misty's trailer at about 10 p.m. at Ronald's request by phone to check on Misty and the kids the night Haleigh was taken. Hank "Tommy" Croslin said he banged on the door and the home had no lights on and was quiet. He told Putnam County deputies no one was home.
Lisa Croslin was the woman who returned the gun Tommy Croslin allegedly took from a former neighbor hours after the man noticed it missing from his home when the two went there to use his phone.
Shortly after that, Lisa and her husband Hank Croslin Sr. left the Satsuma area rather quickly and are believed to be in Tennessee at Lisa's mother's home.

Investigators have not disclosed the contents of the letter that the woman left with the newspaper's receptionist desk about 3 p.m. Wednesday. Prior said the information is powerful.
"It will probably solve what happened to Haleigh Cummings," Prior told Channel 4's Dan Leveton about the tip.
Prior said police also thought the tip could solve the seven-month long missing child case "but they have to determine if it's authentic."

TERRY SHOEMAKER, ATTORNEY FOR RONALD CUMMINGS: Thank you.
GRACE: Terry a well known attorney in the Jacksonville area. Number one, are there witnesses placing Ronald Cummings at work about 30 minutes before he was supposed to punch in and that he was there until his shift ended, the night shift? Yes, no.
SHOEMAKER: Yes. And it`s not a punch-in, you know, as far as a time clock.
GRACE: Correct.
SHOEMAKER: They actually have to use their fingerprints in order to scan in and check in for work, so...
GRACE: OK. Even better.

Tonight, we`ve just confirmed Haleigh`s stepmom-slash-baby-sitter- slash-new wife Misty Croslin skips town again -- that`s right, again -- this time headed to Orlando with a female friend.
NEVES: Ronald received unemployment from his time, and Misty is -- the friend that she`s staying with tends to pay for everything, so...
BROOKS: Is she independently wealthy?
NEVES: I think that maybe her husband is independently wealthy.
BROOKS: OK. So Ellie, is she staying with this woman in Orlando, or is she staying at a Disney hotel somewhere?
JOSTAD: You know, that`s not really clear, exactly where she`s staying. Now, the last time she was in Orlando, she was spotted at Universal. Apparently, she was taking in the sights there, but she did have on a, you know, Where is Haleigh, button while she was there.

SATSUMA, FLA. -- Haleigh Cummings had only been missing for four days when Texas-based EquuSearch arrived in Satsuma to help find her.
AUDIO: Tim Miller (http://www.frn.com/fis/stories/Miller1.mp3) | Tim Miller 2 (http://www.frn.com/fis/stories/Miller3.mp3)
Now, eight months later, there is still no trace of the girl, but the one person to have last seen her alive seems to be making the rounds.
Haleigh's stepmother, Misty Croslin-Cummings, will be back on network TV Friday morning, two days after she was detained in Orlando in an I-4 road rage incident.
According to police, a woman claims she was harassed and terrorized by Croslin-Cummings and EquuSearch member Donna Brock, who was driving the car.
EquuSearch founder Tim Miller sent Donna to convince Misty to open up about what really happened to Haleigh, but Miller didn't expect the pair to run into authorities.
"It just shows the mentality again of Misty Cummings. No matter where Misty Cummings goes, she takes destruction with her. That is who Misty Cummings is," he said. "Wouldn't this just be a total embarrassment? Here, your stepdaughter is missing, here this rumor is out there, you are on drugs, you're having threesomes, and now you're being thrown on the ground by the cops."
Reports in the case show Misty has failed five different polygraph tests, but authorities have yet to arrest her.
She will appear on the CBS Early Show today.

More stunning audio is coming out from Texas EquuSearch Director Tim Miller, the man who coordinated some of the ground searches for missing 6-year-old Haleigh Cummings of Satsuma in February and who arranged for the child's stepmother to be polygraphed and hypnotized.
Miller spoke with 97.3 The Sky's news partner The Florida Radio Network. Rozie Franco conducted the interview and she asked Miller, " Who is Misty Cummings' friend, Donna Brock and what is she doing?"
Miller did not hesitate to answer.

Phone conversation (audio/transcribed) between Tim Miller and The Florida Radio Network, Rozie Franco:
Tim Miller speaking:
...To go ahead and get Misty's nails done, to get her hair done, to take her to uh, Daytona, to take her to Universal Studios and stuff to try to get closer and closer and closer to her to get information so we could find HaLeigh. I was still spending money as of two days ago; wire transferred $300 more dollars to Donna. And we was doing everything that we could do so Donna could be a mother. So Donna was taking her to church, had a private meeting with the pastor. We felt as though the closer we could get her to the pastor and stuff, maybe she would go in there and confess to the pastor, uh, whatever the hell it was going to take for us to find Haleigh.
Rozie Franco: Right. Now Donna, is she one of your closest volunteers? Where is she....
Tim Miller: She is one that yeah, did a good job but she is one that would fit in as a mother that Misty never had. That somebody Misty could trust. You know, I mean nobody ever took Misty to the mall or nobody ever took Misty to get her nails done, nobody ever did any of that. So it's one of them things that you know, let's go ahead and play this Donna. You're gonna be the mother, I'll spend the damn money, work on this girl and everything and let's see if you can just go ahead and get her to break and say where in the hell little HaLeigh's at.
And when they put something together to that point that they know a jury's going to find her guilty and whether they'd have to take her in there first like they did Casey and take her in on child endangerment and false police reports, uh, and hold her under high bond or what. And you know what, here's what I truly believe from my heart, .... After spending as much time as I spent with those damn hillbillies is that number 1, she is scared to death to go to jail. She is scared to death to go to jail and I think the other reason she is not giving anything up is because of all these damn drug addicts thugs that she hangs out with, if she goes ahead and gives up what really happened, she fears for her life because uh, these these thugs'll kill her. (Tim Miller on phone with Rozie Franco):
Tim Miller: There are two things Misty is afraid of:
The polygraph clearly shows Misty knows where HaLeigh is and what happened to her. One of the questions was: Have you intentionally withheld any information about HaLeigh's disappearance? Misty said "no" and it was 99% deception. Another question was: Do you know where HaLeigh is? Misty answered "no" and 95% deception. She totally, totally blew that polygraph.
During the original search for HaLeigh, Lisa and Tim stopped in a little bar on a Sunday night. Girl in a bar wanted to talk to Tim Miller and told him that Misty wasn't home that night. Misty was at a party and was snorting oxycotin, smoking pot, and Misty and another girl had a threesome that night.
Girl in bar had gone over there to buy drugs and saw Misty there. Girl on probation and did not want to tell but showed Tim where the house was. Tim brought this up to Misty and Ronald six weeks ago in Orlando, they know the spot; it's their friends and this girl was telling the truth. Tim got LE involved and they questioned this girl but also said they aren't sure if it was the same night because people doing these drugs get things confused what day is what.
Tim told TN about it and the threesome. This is the kind of life they are living and having this 5-year-old child in, dragging this 5-year-old child around or leaving alone. All the thugs and drug addicts they hang out with. With what poor little Junior has to live with too. Disgrace to American society that two people can do this to two small children that will never have a chance in this world. All the money, all the resources, everything that has been spent on them and for the most part; two of the most irresponsible, immature people I've ever ever met.

On January 20, 2010, investigators from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, HIDTA Tri-County Drug Task Force, and the Office of the State Attorney, 7th Judicial Circuit, concluded a month-long undercover operation with the arrest of four (4) Satsuma residents and one (1) individual from Orlando for trafficking in controlled prescription medications.
During the operation, investigators made several purchases of Oxycodone and Hydrocodone medications from these individuals. Ronald Lemyles Cummings, Misty Janette Croslin, Hank Thomas "Tommy" Croslin Jr., Hope A. If convicted as charged, Ronald Cummings, Misty Cummings, and Donna Brock, could receive a minimum mandatory sentence of twenty-five (25) years in state prison. If convicted, the other individuals can receive minimum sentences ranging from three (3) years to fifteen (15) years in state prison. An undercover Putnam County Sheriff's Office Detective purchased large quantities of prescription medications from this group on seven (7) separate occasions. This operation was in response to the growing problem of the illegal sale and distribution of prescription drugs within Putnam County and surrounding areas. Prescription drug abuse is rapidly on the rise in Putnam County, and is one of the toughest crimes for law enforcement to combat. Most dealers are merchants of their own addiction, and sell these prescription medications to simply support their own habit.
Information was obtained that these individuals were unlawfully selling prescription medications in the community. Sheriff Hardy assigned detectives from the Drug/Vice Unit to the investigation. An undercover Putnam County Detective infiltrated this group, gaining the trust of these drug dealers.
Sheriff Hardy acknowledges the rise in prescription medication crimes in our community, and understands that this is a precursor to many other crimes affecting our citizens. He has instructed his investigators to not only aggressively pursue the subjects who are illegally selling prescription medications, but also the individuals who are unlawfully possessing and using these highly addictive drugs.
As stated in previous releases, investigators assigned to the Haleigh Cummings investigation will take every available opportunity to speak with any individual believed to have knowledge about Haleigh Cummings' disappearance.

This just in from TJ Hart - Simon
The bond for one of the five suspects arrested as a result of a month-long drug sting operation in Putnam County has been lowered.
Hank Thomas “Tommy” Croslin, who was arrested along with Ronald Cummings, Misty Croslin, Donna Brock and Hope Sykes January 20, 2010 was originally being held on $100,000 bond on charges of trafficking in controlled prescription medications. Regardless of the bond amount being lowered, sources tell The SKY Croslin has apparently violated the terms of his previous bond(s) in Putnam County and will have a difficult chance, if any, of being released from jail
The arrests stemmed from a tip from a source with knowledge of the alleged dealing of oxycodone and hydrocodone, according to Putnam County Sheriff’s officials.
Misty Croslin is facing six counts of trafficking in prescription medications. Three counts of the same charge are pending against Cummings and one against Hank Croslin Jr., Sykes and Brock, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Misty Croslin remains held in lieu of $950,000 bail; Cummings, $500,000; Brock, $250,000; Sykes, $150,000; and Hank “Tommy” Croslin Jr. is being held on $7508.
Ronald Cummings is the father of missing 6-year-old HaLeigh Cummings of Satsuma, FL who was abducted from her home February 9, 2009. Misty Croslin was babysitting the girl and her younger brother that night and was the last person to see her. Croslin and Cummings married a few weeks later and got a divorce a few months ago.
Misty Croslin, Hank Croslin Jr. and Brock are incarcerated in the St. Johns County Jail. Cummings was moved to the Flagler County Jail. Sykes is in the Putnam County Jail.
All but Sykes were moved to jails outside of Putnam County for security reasons. Ronald Cummings and Misty Croslin were placed in separate jails to avoid the possibility of communication between them.
Florida Department of Law Enforcement Agent Dominick Pape said that potential maximum sentences if convicted are: Misty Croslin, 74 years; Cummings, 43 years; Brock, 25 years; Sykes, 15 years; and Hank Croslin, three years.
