DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES - Family members of a 75-year-old Alzheimer’s patient who has been missing since he was released from the Twin Towers County Jail at 2 a.m. on Sept. 23 are asking for the public’s help in locating him.
Waymon Davis, Jr. was facing unspecified charges before a judge dismissed his case on Sept. 23, said Charles Johnson, Davis’ nephew. Davis was transported back to the County jail facility, to be processed for release. Johnson and other family members waited for Davis’ release at the jail, but left the facility at 450 Bauchet St. at midnight, after leaving their contact information with a guard, Johnson said.
Davis was released two hours later, according to the LAPD.
“I don’t know why they would do that,” Johnson said. “Release an Alzheimer’s patient at 2 a.m.? He didn’t even know where he was.”
Davis is described as a 5-foot-10, 160-pound African American male with grey hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information regarding Davis is asked to call the LAPD Missing Persons Unit at (213) 485-5381. After-hours or on weekends, calls may be directed to a 24-hour, toll-free number at 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (527-3247).
