A 14-year-old girl has been missing from her home since Sept. 29, but authorities believed she was still in the Greenwood area Thursday.

According to a Leflore County Sheriff’s Department incident report, Sharnarius D. Lindsey, a 14-year-old student at Amanda Elzy High School. left her home on County Road 245 at about 10:30 p.m. Sept. 29.

Officers have received calls that she has been spotted in the area of the Gaston Apartments.

Sharnarius’ father, Lashun Lindsey, said she had been suspended from school for three days. According to the report, when he took her home she continued to be “disruptive and uncontrollable” and he called the Sheriff’s Department about a family disturbance.

“She’s been in and out of trouble at school,” Lashun Lindsey said.

He said that she has never been gone this long before, although about a year ago, she crawled out a window and went to her aunt’s home. Her father found her the next morning.

Lashun Lindsey said he had not seen or heard from her since Sept. 29. He has also contacted family members who told him they have also not had contact with the girl.

Lashun said Sharnarius did not take any clothes with her, but according to calls he has received, she is changing clothes regularly.

He said this morning that he had heard she might be trying to go toward Memphis, although to his knowledge she has no contacts there. Investigators could not be reached this morning to comment about the possibility of Sharnarius traveling to Memphis.

“The people who are housing her may be more familiar with the Memphis area,” Lashun said. “It has to be someone older, because it has to be someone who can drive.”

Lashun said trying to find his daughter has been stressful and he must try to cope daily.

“It’s a hard thing, but you really have to be strong,” Lashun said. “I just have to pray for her safe return.”

Anybody who has information regarding the whereabouts of Sharnarius Lindsey may contact the Sheriff’s Department at 453-5141.

Sharnarius D. Lindsey, the 14-year-old Amanda Elzy High School student missing since Sept. 29, was found late Friday afternoon by authorities, said her fa-ther, Lashun Lindsey.

“She was found by the Sheriff’s Department and the Greenwood Police Department,” he said Saturday.

Sharnarius, who was suspended from school for three days prior to her disappearance, is now in the Leflore County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting a hearing before Leflore County Youth Court Judge Kevin Adams, her father said.

He said it was a big relief to know where his daughter is. He’s also grateful that she is safe.

The next step, he said, is to “see how many laws have been broken” by anyone who might have helped her.

“You’re not supposed to house a minor,” he said.

Very glad she was found safe...:basic44:

I don't quite understand why she is in juvenile detention?

Whoever had her knew she was a runaway and probably will be charged...
